Hi friends! Come for a ride from France into Luxembourg and over to Germany via the La Voie Bleue (The Blue Way) Cycle Route beside the Moselle River.

Today we’re riding on a VERY popular section of this cycle route, which is fully paved the whole way. We’ll show you why people love this ride so much!

This is a key stage of a big adventure, cycling up the Saône and Moselle from Lyon in France through Luxembourg and into Germany… finishing at Koblenz where the Moselle meets the Rhine River. We’ll do over 1000km in total… during a heatwave! Oops.

You can download a GPX Map for La Voie Bleue from the French Government promotional page here: https://www.lavoiebleue.com/

Last time we had a look around Mets. This time we’ll show you a ride featured by the BBC travel service. We’re in the mighty city of Mets at the moment and we’re setting off in an amazing odyssey today following the river on the blue way and we’re going to start off in France. We’re going to Luxembourg and we’re going to finish in Germany in Pearl. And today, one of the things that we’re going to go and see is the Senzhen, the village of Senzhen, where the Senzhen treaty was signed that gives us the 90 days in every 180 days. And I am very excited. I love crossing borders. And this is going to be a beautiful ride. She single peaceful morning. Night of the sun. As you’re riding along, you can hear the waves, the wake. It’s 8 minutes to 12 and it’s uh quite warm. This ride is interesting in that it’s really well used. It’s clearly a really well-loved community asset. There’s lots of people jogging and cycling and families. The outlook is green and you see the water most of the time. It’s got an industrial character though. There’s a lot of uh industrial activity on the banks. I’ve just stopped to get Charles and I a drink. And this is my creative solution for getting the bottles on the bike. So, we’re at Labar Back BAC. And we’re about 17ks from the border, 18ksish from our accommodation tonight, I think. And uh what time is it? It is quart 1. It’s very hot. The riding’s been okay, but it’s quite warm. It’s an interesting outlook. Can you see the lawn mower? I guess it’s a place to store it. After all our trials and tribulations coming up the Moselle through France, it’s a bit of an antilimax. Now we’re entering Luxembourg. So I expected a grand archway with like, you know, lots of fireworks and, you know, and all we got was this. So this is the border and the bike path sort of stops about a kilometer back and you’re on the main road through the border and this is the poor sorry sign that greets you in the wrong direction in the wrong direction you know so this is it so we’re now entering the village of Senzhen There’s the train. And this is where we’re staying tonight. Somewhere up there. Here’s Charlie bringing the bikes up. Champion fellow. kitchen and weird. Bathrooms in here. Bathrooms where? Down there next to the front door. Down there next to the front door. Let’s have a look. Oh, okay. There’s nothing wrong with that. There’s a little shower. Good for the bike packers. And there’s a little balcony. And this place has another bedroom as well.
