Both are €150 from two different used bike shops in my area. Looking for a comfy bike that I can turn into something ready for weekend cafe cruising and short bike packing trips, where I might come up against a bit of gravel or unpaved trails.
I’m about 5’8” and hoping to add some racks, swept back handlebars, new tyres, a saddle and maybe some new pedals but nothing too major in terms of modification — it’s my first time dipping my toes into any sort of xbiking!
I’m pretty sure the GT is steel and the Specialized is aluminium. GT is described as “46-54cm”, 21 speed with 26” wheels (I think). Specialized is 20” frame, 8×1 gears and 700c wheels.
Which one of these two is the better option? Retro MTBs and hybrids don’t come up in my area in shops or on marketplace so I don’t want to miss my chance if either of these could be a winner.
