Hello everyone and welcome to the race course. The old ground that has seen it all. And tonight it’s ready for the theater of the cup. After 43 years away, Rex made their second tier return on Saturday, but felt its cruelty at Southampton. Now they seek solace on familiar turf against championship rivals Whole City. Strangers for over 20 years, but tonight they are drawn together for the third time in the competition’s history. The Tigers were semi-finalists not that long ago, but arrive on the back of another testing summer of turbulence and a transfer ban that began life under new boss Sergey with an encouraging point of promotion. Hopefully his commentary at the weekend as Rexom pay tribute here to one of their own, the legendary defender Joey Jones, who passed away last month, capped 72 times for Wales, also a European Cup winner. [Applause] Ashfield in the uh starting lineup tonight. local lad 19 years of age conceding a free kick for that foul there on Palmer. It is Giles to deliver and it’s not bad. Mc Bernie glancing wide on the first real chance of the game and Mc Bernie is right. It was a pinch of a delivery from Giles. We know he’s got that in his locker. put it right on Mc Bernie’s forehead and Rexom let off the hook. Hughes. Not much Palmer could do with that. Born touch from Tinsdale. Sets Hull on the offensive again. Mc Bernie not run kindly for him. Still he goes on Mc P and pushed away by the conquo. He’s had two opportunities now. All City’s number nine determined to make his mark upon his return to English football. Taken on the turn by Ashfield. Player who Rexom had high hopes for. Lee finding the gap. James followed by Lstrom. Mlane for Elliot Lee. Striking chance potentially. He’ll take it on now. Deflected and in. Rexom in front. Nicely worked and a little bit of fortune to go with it. But Elliot Lee breaks the deadlock in this Caribell Cup tie. Plenty of time and space to pick his spot. Think it may have gone off John Eaggan on its way through. [Music] [Applause] And he wins the header. There’s Smith. Counc by Dram who’s on his way. Delha on to Dram again. Good whole City play. Money. Hall City’s new number nine is off the mark. and whole City are all square in North Wales. [Music] He passed up two opportunities earlier in the half. Not this time. Lovely goal. This Dome kept on going and Ollie Mcernney able to steer it home. The Conquo got a glove on it but powerless to keep it out. O’ Constrom trying to have muscle Ashfield but Rex come away with it. It’s Longman and that is a guiltedged opportunity for Ryan Hardy. He should have scored. He absolutely should have scored within seconds of the restart. Whole city let off big time. It’s a delicious ball from Longman. Hardy peels off Egan and should bury this Bernie Lstrom. There’s Hughes. Good play this from the whole city. Palmer Aonquil makes the save. Really good Tigers play though. Goats up beautifully here and Palmer couldn’t quite find the right finish. So alterations not too far away. [Applause] [Music] There’s Hardy. Smith has been a peripheral figure in this second half. Ashfield knee turn chopping back onto his left. Really good try. Ultimately left frustrated. Drags it on the inside of Lstrom. It wasn’t too far away, was it? [Applause] both sides as you can see from the statistics having a go. Halt City with uh more of the ball and that’s a lovely ball. Gellard is in. He squares it and Dala [Applause] has given whole City the lead. delayed reaction because the ball bounced back out of the net and the whole city fans have now cottoned onto the fact that the ball has indeed gone in and whole city with 20 minutes to go. Lead at Rexom. Joel and Dala with the strike. One that caught just about everybody in the stadium out. Delhart squared it and Joel and Dala was there to finish. [Applause] All City edging ever closer to a place in round two. [Music] Dram swings it across and flicked away by O’ Connell but kept alive here by Casey Palmer. He was looking for endal but there’s Crooks and surely whole city are going through to round two of the Caraval Cup and finally it would appear that their League Cup curse is broken. For the first time in five years, it looks as though the Tigers will be in the hat for the second round. Matt Crooks off the bench to give the Tigers a twogoal cushion. Palmer did well to keep it alive and Rexom simply switched off presumably thinking this was going to run out for a corner. They are almost there. [Applause] Windas. Eight additional minutes. We did have that long stoppage, didn’t we, for the injury to Matt Crooks as MLAN swings it across. Oh, Rexom back in business. Ollie Palmer. It’s back to 3-2 and a healthy dollop of additional time still to play. Maybe Rexen won’t finish yet. Main with the initial ball. It’s a really good header from Ollie Palmer. That really does set up a grandstand finish now as Hull were coasting towards victory. Suddenly not so comfortable. [Applause] Baret Rexom with the wind in their sails again. Suddenly digs out the cross. Palmer again. I do not believe it. the forgotten man in many many ways. But Ollie Palmer with a quick fire double makes it ransom free whole city three. Well, this place has witnessed the extraordinary in recent years. Well, you can add this to the list. Rexom looked down and out but suddenly right back in it thanks to a pair of headers from Ollie Palmer. [Applause] And so to penalties we shall go. Whole city coasting at 3-1 and looking set fair for a place in round two. But Ali Palmer stepping out of the shadows for Rexom with a pair of headers. 1 minute and 10 seconds between them to rescue Rexom. [Music] James Mlan then first up in the shootout for Rex. Calmly done. Aonquo making himself pick. Palmer scores. Aonquo rooted to the spot and scores. Two out of two. Oh, it’s off the frame of the goal. Advantage, Rexom. Mandala looks to the heavens. [Music] Emphatically done. Good penalty. Well, City still alive. [Applause] It’s Palmer and he buries it. Ryan Giles needs to score this and he does score. [Applause] It is down to Jack Marriott to finish the job. It’s Marriott. It’s round two of the Caribel Cup for Rexen. A remarkable turnaround. They were 3-1 down. Two O Palmer headers put them back in business. And it will be Rexom who take their place in round two. And this League Cup curse for whole City shows no sign of lifting. But they’ll never get a better opportunity than what they had tonight. It belongs to Rexom. who are through to the second round after a penalty shootout success over City. [Music]

  1. Nice that they didn't cut away from the minute's silence after 2 seconds. I didn't expect them to show the whole thing, but they included a lot more than I was expecting! Nice touch.

  2. Hello from Greece. Wrexham is my new favorite team because of everything they’ve been doing in recent years. I’ve been following English football since the ’80s, and I’ve supported West Ham ever since. But now, I also like Wrexham! Go on!!!

  3. Winning with Palmer and Lee making the goals is pretty awesome. 2 players from the national league doing it shows it is not just the new players bringing success
