Greetings to all and welcome to the channel The intention of today’s walk is to serve as a orientative guide through the Madrid-Chamartín station… since due to the remodeling works, it is currently (August 2025) in a somewhat chaotic state for its users First we are going to approach the arrivals area of the high-speed trains… so whoever arrives in Madrid on those trains will be able to orient themselves as they leave The station was recently renamed (2020) as Madrid-Chamartín Clara Campoamor, to pay tribute to the historical defender of women’s rights In the same way as the airport Barajas was named after the late president Adolfo Suarez… And Atocha station was named after Almudena Grandes, after the writer. But most people usually name them by their traditional names… since it is difficult for them to replace the “usual” name with a longer one. It is like the Atocha roundabout, which has been called Plaza del Emperor Charles V since 1941, and almost no one knows it or uses it. This is the arrivals area; we can only go this far. There is only this space for family, friends, couples… to wait for their loved ones. Going out onto the street, we will find a great availability of taxis, if we want to use that means of transport That upper area, renovated, is the area where travelers wait for departures We are going to approach the walkway that will take us to the main area of the station And also to the parking area and connections with commuter trains and the metro network Behind the station appears the “Cuatro Torres Business Area” space And the leaning Kio Towers I’m sorry for the noise of the gusts of air in the microphone when I went out to record, this change in weather was not expected We can see a storage area for the works of remodeling behind the glass, the lobby for those waiting to depart from trains The first phase of the remodeling works is expected to finish sometime in 2026 (Access is currently prohibited here) …But the entire renovation of the station and the surrounding area is estimated to last beyond 2030 It should be noted that this entire area is going to undergo an extensive remodeling The entire burial of the tracks that lead north… will leave an estimated area of 311 hectares, that is, more than 3 million square meters… where it is planned to build “Delta City” (*ahem!*) I mean… “Madrid Nuevo Norte”… …but the the philosophy of the project it’s kinda like as in the film Robocop (1987) by the brilliant Paul Verhoeven This is like a kind of temporary waiting area, to wait for train departures You have to be aware that this is outdoors, there is no wall, no glass, no air conditioning Luggage control area, to access the glassed hall that we saw before Today we will not go any further Let’s see more parts of the station In the past, the large hall of the station was accessed from there. It’s now closed Station parking area Upstairs, the old “Bowling Chamartin”… what memories I’m going to change the camera exposure… You have different automatic ticket booths, apart from the office with staff My goodness, the state of the station… To the right are the toilets. They cost 1 euro They look good We go out to the west facade of the station We enter the access to the Metro network, and the commuter trains Breakers! Let’s see how they do it Well, here ends our walk for today I hope the tour has been useful to you. See you soon!
