[Music] [Music] Where are we going to go? [Music] And I will show you. [Music] down to [Music] heat. [Music] [Music] [Music] In the likeness of the world’s greatest tener, Mario Lancer I think your drawing’s fantastic. [Music] God inst. [Music] [Music] Let’s do the show. [Music] I feel like I haven’t really checked in with you guys in this vlog. So, I just want to pop in and do as I promised, which is update you guys on this book that I just started reading, Happy Hour by, again, I’m going to mispronounce this. Malo Granadas. I really should look up how to pronounce this. Last time I talked to you guys about this book, I hadn’t even started it yet, but now I’m like nearly halfway through. I’m like 120 pages in, and I’m really enjoying it so far. Plotwise, it really is living up to what I expected from this book. It is two girls trying to make it in New York and working all these side gigs and meeting some cool people in the New York night life. But I did struggle a little bit to get into the story. Not because of the plot, because of the characters, but simply because of narration. There are several moments, especially in the beginning, where the narrator breaks the fourth wall. and it all just kind of seems very meta, which sometimes works, but in this very case, I just didn’t really think that that really works because it is supposed to be about these two young girls trying to make a New York. I was expecting it to be a little more like a messy and coming of age. So, having a narrator that seems so meta and so all knowing almost, even though the narrator is in the head of Isa, the main character, just felt off. There was something off about it. It’s like the narration is too confident and too arrogant in contrast to the actual characters and where they are in life. But has gotten better as I’m reading. There are less of these like meta moments that I didn’t really love. And it feels like the narrator Isa is settling a little bit more into her character and into who she is and where she is in life. So, I really am liking that. So, all in all, it is a quite good book, but the narration did throw me off a little bit. But, I’m going to give the author a bit of grace here because it’s her debut novel. So, I feel like you can tell that she’s still trying to like settle into these characters inner voice and not make it her own voice. So, that’s probably the biggest critique I have so far is that I can tell that the author is still struggling a little bit to find the voice of her characters, but that is again expected when it’s a debut novel. So, I’ll probably try and finish this within the next week and I’ll of course update you guys on what my final thoughts are. [Music] fun. [Music] Bring him [Music] Did you die?
