right so I’m back in ERS field today giving it a second chance cuz last time I was here about a year and a half ago a lot of people started crying on the comments kicking off saying oh it’s not that bad you’ve slugged it off too much the train station’s really good that’s the best thing we’ve got now if the train station which is a good train station to be fair it’s got a bit of history on it is the best thing about your town and there’s Su seriously wrong so it’s been done up apparently since I’ve last come here is a bit of a walkway apparently it’s been cleaned up a bit so so I’m giving it a second chance so we’re going to walk down do the typical back street stuff but walk along where all the new stuff apparently as meant to be so let’s go down there and let’s see what’s kicking off missed that building last time it’s quite a nice building that so that’s what you get when you do a bit more walking so sorry that I missed that last time but that is a is a nice building that and it’s been well kept this where all the work’s going on now a bit of work’s been done so let’s go down there and see what’s happening benches maybe all the floor’s been done as well um new pylon things behind me which don’t look too bad to be fair I’m not a fan of this modern art stuff but that looks all right floor’s been he not tripping up all the time but you still just got your shops here beside that pretty rank like your Gregs and you shut down whatever shop that is your old post office that’s just been vacant for ages so yeah apart from the floor that’s been done and then pile on things not much at the minute so spit here yeah hope f a full of cans and stuff soon let’s get to the uh let’s get to the indoor market see if any more popup shops that have uh moved in maybe some unique ones or something like that some dance music going on in the background on a Wednesday morning all these shops here quite a few of them are shot and goes right around there they should they should be vacant to be fair a lot of people come to Huddersfield but it seems like they just come for the generic Gregs and stuff like that and Tesco and little this a little area here which could that could be really nice that you know what I mean just a bit more well I know it’s a winter so they’re not really going to do too much with it and events probably do happen here in the summer but you know you could uh you could probably just don’t know at least do what they’ve done down there CH some uh concrete on it make it just look a bit better modernize it a bit more that’s that’s the word I was looking for this is what it’s supposed to look like built up area stuff where you can walk along Food Hall Public Square library Museum but somehow I just don’t think it’s going to end up looking like that where are we I think we’re somewhere here don’t know can bet you now it won’t look like hey it’s looking busy in here it’s that busy I’ve even got an echo on my voice woo wo uh I think they said it op fa is it open say oh Jes it’s fully shook I wonder if that shook CU it’s getting knocked down from that video was that picture we saw a minute ago maybe they’re all being moved out who knows but it wasn’t great anyway so even if they weren’t building that they probably all have to move out anyway because no one really went in there I think after these shops are shut because they’re smashing a lot of stuff down because that place on his there last time was rammed I can’t see that just shutting up shop but I don’t know some’s got to tell [Music] me NTI area down there 80s bar there sure do oh yeah there’s like a a gay bar down here rain bar which you have been in it’s pretty decent in there to be fair there you go got a lot of um different food shops here a lot of them are open and there’s a lot of variety which Courtyard there we spoon here to the left yeah sort of on the fence with weever spoons so right there for one for a pre- drink but people who spend all night there nah not for me let’s see where I can go to get out of ERS field for the cheapest day what’s the cheapest here 200 oh here we go cabri and saari Adventure get picked up from moders field 140 quid one night half board where going to go AB broad though way newor portal City it’s all right is it Go Skys scanner or R A get 50% off that book it individually as where a secret is now last time I was here there’s hardly any shops in here and it looks the same I don’t know what’s happening with this place but could it CH I mean so many vacant shops some nice chair sit down on but don’t know why it would in here I want even coming here to get warm it’s not depressing oh boy H this one open last time up here see what’s happening up here eer this place is new bring your half back for a refund typical Center again where everyone chills when it’s a bit warmer nice buildings but again the bottom of them just all vacant church Park here looks like it might follow of some Dodge people yeah church grounds are all right but apparently a lot of people come here call it like smackhead Park CU a lot of people in the summer come here shoot up drink you know and there’s a lot of people who sleep here and stuff like that but I’m not in the summer I’m in the winter so maybe they found a a warmer spot a more sheltered spot to keep here we go scenes of other field back in the day obviously ERS field uh what bloody H man Jesus Christ got to run over again nice big buildings here but just look at them no one has wanted to do anything with this the council should be putting a bit of money in or doing cheaper business rates or something like that don’t know what the actual reason for these nice buildings not to of independent shops underneath them even if it’s just coffee shops I know there’s a lot of them but it makes the building itself look a lot nicer to look at instead of just some deric stuff with posters in it from like 15 years ago that’s the market there it’s probably the best thing about osfield to be fair is actually a half decent Market but again it’s only open two days a week so that concludes my revisit of Huddersfield and to be fair them pictures where showing it’s doing up I just know it’s not going to look like that and there’s a lot of shops moving out I’m hoping they’ve moved out due to uh the new they’ve got new premises at new place where it’s been built but that’s going to be ages so I don’t know what they’re doing in the meantime so it looks like they literally just just moved out and there’s literally less shops in the were last time so yeah I mean again people just come here it’s just for looks like it’s just for uh The Greggs and the pound Bakery and C ex maybe you know your typical shops you go to on a Saturday when you got nothing to do and you’re bored oh let’s go into wers field let’s go get a sausage roll or something like that there’s nothing again in the center that says oh let’s go for an activity or something something like that there’s a cinema down the way but it’s a proper ropey Cinema I’m not going all the way there to film that take my word for it uh just over there somewhere it’s near it’s near the Huddersfield football club so so yeah Huddersfield giving it a second chance it’s just the same as last time bit more scaffoldings gone up but that’s probably just to keep the foundations of the buildings from falling apart more than something going on so yeah that’s other field anyway I’m going to revisit juy anyway cuz it’s not too far from here I can’t bother Ming cuz it’s so cold up and down the country yet so that’ll be the next one so see you in the next one

there is something strange about this town – https://youtu.be/uFht43WGE70?si=uELaZ3ifXznLr4sy
Lives in a Dreamworld. Must go out at 6 in the morning.
They are actually totally rebuilding the 60s shabby town centre not that u d care.
lets see whats kicking off , it is what it is ?
I lived here happily for twelve years and it isn't anywhere near as bad as you're portraying. It seems like any specky mug can start a channel and spread shit about places. Wanker.
I dont go near Huddersfield now unless I have to, stick to Holmfirth
Tell f-block that place is dead
One place that has come back with a bang is Barnsley, reinvented and redone the town centre, would be happy to show you around my home town (though currently live in Wakefield 😂)
It's like the internet shopping came along with the council rate rises and council parking charges. Slowly killed it and wtf are those pylon things, more waste. There was a time you couldn't walk into the market or through the packhorse without weaving through people walking the other way. It's just dead! Why bother spending anything trying to upgrade? Just turn it into residential. Shrink the commercial area and get rid of the concrete abominations like Queens Gate market. Build some affordable housing, ie. some new eco council houses.
Floor? It's a bloody PAVEMENT man!
I wonder what the night life is like?
The problem of this town's decline is the sole responsibility of the council and it's councillors. The council has too many old councillors and too many foreigners. Neither are forward thinking and their way of making money is to increase parking charges. They lack any kind of creative thinking. The amount of shows, concerts, events etc this council can put on, especially in the summer, they could make a fortune.
Same guy commenting about vacant shops tells you to go on sky scanner and get the holiday / flight half price. Got to love the irony 😂
derelict town centre buildings should be converted into accommodation, the country has a very bad housing crisis it makes sense to bring in more people to these town centres by giving them accommodation there. Great videos keep up the good content.
Same all over the UK! Boots, for example!
Grew up here, lived for about 20 years. Moved to Thailand full time in 2012… best decision I ever made, what a shit hole! ( Huddersfield that is )
You know fuck all about Huddersfield yer fucking child
If you want to get a true interpretation then go 2 miles out to a place called almondbury, and Charlie and Billy are also invited, a really lovely place.
We did one here. https://youtu.be/vy4-Dzw95Ec?si=Nu8hbx54QyQOk0pt
A lovely looking town.
It’s not the Huddersfield I knew from 1998 when I was a student here
Shithole
It's a disaster
Huddersfield's awful council and neglect is an issue but the train station is a grade 1 listed building, won numerous awards, King Charles is a big fan. Why wouldn't that be the best thing about a Town? I suppose someone with neck tattoos and a binman hat wouldn't appreciate that. Maybe stick to reviewing the quality of the Greggs?
Sky high rents unfortunately coincided with the decline
5:00 I agree with all my life.
3:45 All this area has now been demolished apart from the library on the left!
Obviously after closing time
Still a shithole
Huddersfield market is open four days a week and also for a couple of events twice a month. It seems you went in the morning. It's usually busier. I'm looking forward to your next video where you implement strategies to improve town centres. See you soon.
I'm born and raised in Huddersfield and look, I can call it a sh***ole but no one else can 🤣no in all seriousness, the town has beautiful buildings and so much potential but due to many factors (poor council, online shopping, lack of parking) people don't really use the town centre anymore. The bit with the parade of shops (4:23 onwards) is being redeveloped and that's why they're all empty – it's a huge area to just have shut. The local art organisations are doing their best to use them for art installations, events etc. but it does look a state at the moment. Highly recommend some of our villages – Slaithwaite, Marsden, Holmfirth – this is where people go. Village life is coming back in Huddersfield
My hometown from 1966 to 2024. Lived at Newsome. I remember the old market hall and the old ABC cinema before it became a Sainsbury store. I used to work at the Classic cinema on Queensgate from 72 to 77 before joining the R.A.F. Also remember the hotel at castle hill as my sister had her wedding reception there back in 74.
Also the Old Leeds road stadium where Town used to play. Never been to the newer stadium apart from the concert when Bon Jovi played there in 2001, .
Loved going to many pubs and nightclubs in the centre. Burns Tavern on King Street was my favourite and the Starlight Disco my fav night club.
Left Hudds in 2004 to come and work in China. Not been back since and don't really miss it
