[AUS] First Road Bike – Used

Hey All!
I’m looking to purchase my first adult bike, I think the last bike I owned was in primary school.

A bit about me first – I’ve been weights training for the last few years and am looking to mix in a bit of cycling into my workout cycle.

I’m 175CM/69kg and based in Sydney (all prices in AUD). My budget is 500-800AUD excluding gear and the bike will be primarily used for workouts – I suppose endurance would be the focus over any racing.

Given my budget I’m looking at the used market, and have my eyes on a few options below. The strongest options seem to be the Cannondale CAAD8 and Triban RC520, due to bang for buck and resell if I decide cycling isn’t for me.

If there are other options please let me know too!

   • Saddle: Azur 300x (new)
   • Chain: <1 year old
   • Condition: Well maintained with some cosmetic wear
   • Note: Left brake needs a little attention

4. Cannondale CAAD8, later Taiwanese made version circa 2016 ($650AUD)

   • Purchased new in 2022 secondhand Less than 1,000km ridden.
   • Wheels : Maddux RS3.0 alloy clincher.
   • Shifters : Shimano 105, 10 speed Front rear derailleur: Shimano 105
   • Crank: FSA Gossamer, BB30, 50/34 compact
   • Saddle : Bontrager Affinity RL
   • Pedals: Speedplay (included)
   • Damaged valve on one wheel
   • Includes additional gear (not sure if it’d fit me, but at least gives room for negotiation – FLITE Helmet, Shimano RP1 Cleats and new pro cycling gear

   • I’ve negotiated to $580 excluding lights and locks – I don’t think I’d need these as I won’t be commuting with this
