Well, what to say about Pisa? It’s got a Tower and it’s not straight! But there’s more to it than that. Pisa was a powerful player from Roman times until the early Middle Ages, before being eclipsed by Genoa and Florence. I like it, manageably small, and pretty chilled away from the bustle of the Tower. We had a lovely stopover there, covering the ground very easily on bike. And you’ve just got to have a pieca pizza in Pisa…
