[Music] Hello. [Music] Love. I did not think I’d be putting sunscreen. It’s a first day arrives in Ireland. Get that sunscreen on. It’s so hot. I don’t know. I’ll just take it for so people know what it is. Actually, I will say good morning. It’s not. It’s the afternoon. We are at Dublin. We are going to go and do a massive adventure riding around the whole of Ireland. I’ve got the ferry over. I’m with my lovely friend Ja. You will catch up with her later. Is Northern Irish cross down. We got to do the whole route around Ireland. We’ve got some really fun stops. I’m not tell you the what the one stop that I really want to make. You will see. So, let’s go. Let’s go. We’re doing it. First climb of the trip. Dublin Mountains way ahead. Oh, this is a such a pretty view. Yeah. Oh, look. You can see all the the port. So, we’re heading into The Wikllo. Mau is how you say it. Yeah. Hello. Hello. Hey. Look at your bony deal. Look how beautiful this is. And we’re going to get a nice lolly. Right. We found this ice cream at the top. Hello. They didn’t have like thumbs up. They didn’t have an ice cream though. They had actual ice cream, but no twist. We’ve had Club. Oh, he’s there. He’s there. Give us away. 133,000. Jesus. Jesus. How many followers you got? Are you a YouTuber? I love the Irish Irish accent already. It is my one of my favorites. Look at this. And we get a like this. This is a proper Irish club. It is. Yeah. I love it. I just went for the standard. Standard. And now it’s so pointy. So, we made it to Bunglad. We haven’t really actually filmed that much. We’ve not only stopped that once um to get a little snack and we’ve just been taking in all the beautiful green scenery and just chatting away. However, do you know one thing that I am shocked at? I didn’t realize how expensive island is. Like, I’ve been to get I’ve been having a craving for cereals all day. So, I bought I bought some milk for maybe maybe my supper or maybe breakfast. Anyway, uh it was like €5. €5 for a milk. It’s crazy. Hi. So, Jay’s getting pizza. I’ve had Chinese and I’ve got my lovely cereals. I was going to buy a big box of cereals and I was just I was like I can’t I can’t pay that. A tenner to have some cereals and some milk. Crazy. I do love Hello. I do love a um a supermarket raid though after a ride. Although it’s dangerous cuz you just pick up loads of random stuff. Like I bought a one, two, eight pack of cereals. You know those little mini ones that you get when you’re on holiday and you’re a kid like we used to have them in the caravan. I love them. It’s cuz it makes it just makes you feel like you’re actually on holiday. Oh, sorry. Sorry. No, it’s only filming me. It’s not filming you. It’s there’s load of people in the window. They’re like looking at me filming. I’m outside the restaurant. Oh, it’s tiny. I asked for a we one. I don’t want a big one. Big enough. Hang on. And I’m going to eat all this rice and Chinese and all this cereal. You’re a minger. You know, the delivery coming. We’ve got a car. You like some pizza. That’s the saddest thing I’ve ever seen. So delicious. Hot water. Dip your biscuit in. Delicious. Look at the table. So she’s drinking this and she said she calls it tea. She’s like it’s like tea but without the tea bag. place was so it’s so windy but she was so lovely. The way that she greeted us go why would you not say she was so nice and they had lovely place for us to keep the bike so please come and stay. It’s called Monti Monti. I can’t remember, but I’ll leave a link to it if you are in Bumladi. Yeah, we’re in. Come and stay cuz she was honestly the best breakfast. The nicest host. So happy for us to wash our kit. Beautiful. Oh yeah, let’s get Let’s get Okay. Are you eyes open? Yeah. Yes. The AJ took so many really good pictures. There’s a few of them. In fact, they’re all bad. I had my eyes closed on all of them. He took this picture of this dog. We were laughing so much last night. This beautiful little dog just yapping, running around and like the picture shook a mill like an absolute But yeah, we’re just getting a picture of the little flag. Right. We’re off. We’re off. 100ky to me. Fun times. We’re off. So, you might not see a lot of us today because there is a lot of wind. And I’m not complaining because I think the wind and the rain in Ireland are what what make it so unique and special and also very green. And like all these trips that I come on, I love the anticipation of what I’m going to see, what it’s going to feel like, what it’s going to smell like, the people that we’re going to meet. I just this is my absolute dream ideal thing to do on a bike. I just love it so much. And J is like the nicest, funnest. I don’t know. She’s just so Look at Look at that happiness. Okay, let’s go. In the green car. In the green. In the green. Look at this weather. I have messed up again. It said it was going to be cold. I wanted like a thermal jersey again. Snip the sleeves off. So I just put in nine stones. Nine stones. And I said, “What is it?” Nine stones. Okay, it is 57.153 kg. Look at this. I’m a little bit warm, actually. Look at the blue skies and all the green green hedges and trees. Gorgeous. Okay. Beautiful church, right? I’ve got my eyes on a Guinness and some beans on toast. We keep chatting about what food we What are you going to have? These are the best crisps in Ireland. Look delicious. Can’t get Can’t get those bad boys. What is it? Belly Milo. Yeah. Relish and cheddar. And I have to explain yesterday what we’re doing. But basically, we’re going to do a thousand kilome just over a thousand um loop around Ireland. But this time we’re doing it a little bit differently because we’re doing like shorter days. There’s some longer days, but we’re just going to take our time, sit and eat our crisps, enjoy the scenery. Yeah. And uh laugh a lot. We’ve had a couple of little little teasers. Um and so Ja, just explain like how we met. Uh we met in 2022 maybe I think. Um because you joined us when we went to watch the first tour to France fam a Vex Swift uh in France obviously. Um I in 2019 was part of the international who rode every stage of the tour to France the day before the men and then in 2022 when it was the first one that had come back again since the 80s we were over there cheering and supporting the women and Kelly was along with us and we were flat mates. Yeah, we will. We share the roots. Honestly, Ja is just like so fun. You want to You’ll see it on this trip. But honestly, just having the best time already. And yeah, just having a good old time eating all the eating all the crisps. Want to drink all the Do they do other flavors? I think they do, but this particular flavor is the best one. I want like Do they do something? I’d have later on. So yeah, today we’re just going to have a very steady ride. It’s like it’s not even that far. And then we’re gonna go, we’ve got a 9K to go to New Ros and we’re gonna go. I found a cafe and they got really good reviews for coffee for you. And what about beans on toast? Have to. Um, it’ll be fine. We’ll find it. We’ll have a great So, this is this is the trip. This is what we’ve got going on. Yeah. And we’ll leave a link to all the pl That place last night was honestly 10 out of 10 standard. So, I’ll leave that link below and then we’ll just catch you on the on the trip. Yeah, we saw a few stones today, too. Cool. Cool. Sorry, bro. Look how quiet the roads are. Oh, it’s just so quiet and peaceful. And this tarmac is lush. It is so smooth. They’ve had some bit of uneven. This is really nice. Just go there. Just squat there. [Applause] Oh, they are good. They’re really good. We’ve come through New Ross. What other towns? What was the first one? Kill William. We’ve come through Bali William and then Ken Ross and now we’re heading towards Waterford. Oh, new Ross, not Ken Ross. Who’s Ken Ross? Okay, Barbie’s coming up. Don’t This is why I need a Garmin because my direction is just shocking. Okay, let’s Waterford. It is very, very pretty. There’s loads of road works that way, but this is really nice. What do you think of Waterford? Well, it’s like a bit watery for the Ford. We might be changing the route because we’re going beauty. Beauty over Brun. So, one of Jay’s friends, Annabelle, said that we should go a different route. So, we’re changing the route to go on a coastal route via Anstown rather than the Dungarin Greenway. So, I mean, you’ll know if any of you are local. Just changed the route up. So, we’re going to go and head that way. Okay, let’s go. So, we’ve got about 50k to Dungarin. Great little bike lane. Oh, look at that for a big old Tesco. That’s the biggest Tesco I’ve seen. Woohoo. Here for the size. Look at that monster. [Music] Oh my god. Go look at this. Look. Oh my god. Look how nice this is. It’s a proper Look at that big m like rock in the sea. It’s like a little mountain. Hi. Oh my. I can’t even tell you how beautiful this is. Oh, absolutely 10 out of 10. Would recommend to come and visit and I can’t believe we weren’t even going to do this. Thank you, Annabelle, which is Ja’s friend for recommending it. I love this so much. So Ja just got chatting to this woman. She like, “Oh, do you want a swim spot?” I’m like, “Oh, yeah, let us know.” And they got on about Annabelle. She’s like, “Oh, yeah, I know Annabelle. I think it’s her cousin’s friend.” And I’m like, “Small world. Small small country.” Bye. I had to get out. That’s so amazing. Look at all these pretty colored houses on a steep hill. Woohoo. Thanks for the recommendation. This guy used to babysit Annabelle. Everyone knows everyone here. Look at this. Look at this. Are you ready for this? Is that a view or is that a view? This is the best detour. Honestly, already second day in. One of the best trips we’ve ever done because it’s so I don’t What is it? Okay, you just have to hold and press it. It’s just the best. Like, look at this. Oh, it’s cold. It’s actually so refreshing. Jump over. So good. We’re jumping. You ready? One. Don’t jump too well. So great. I just don’t want Just looking for another little pebble to take home for my mom. She loves like rocks and she loves Ireland. I’m like I’m trying to find her. Quite like that one. Apparently this coastline is one of the best places in in the world to ride a bike. GCN featured it. So it must be amazing. But when Katie Cookra features it, it really is. And as for And as for Ji saying it is, then come on. If you get a bang like get a bang in the head. That’s it. Red things can change very fast. That is so true. Yeah, definitely. Yeah, you need be careful. Okay, I leave you. Have a lovely day. Bye. You too. Hey, have a lovely resting. Have a lovely evening. Lovely to meet you. Yeah, nice to meet you. Have a lovely evening. Bye. Enjoy your trip. Why is Eli? I feel like he’s he is a character of B. In the nicest possible way, just like I just love eccentric. I know. It’s so gorgeous. I love it. This is the payment for going down. And it’s quite a steep hill back out, but look at this little lovely little cute road that come to us. Lovely Irish fella. And uh it just reminds me of a character out of Father Ted. And I kind of see now where they all got, I guess, ideas, inspirations for the characters in Father Ted. It’s I just love it. I love Ireland. I can’t believe how good the weather’s been today. We are so lucky. And this is the day that the storm is forecast. I think it’s pretty bad in the UK and Wales, but here it’s pretty good as you can see. Also, I just want to clarify what I mean about the characters in Valentine. Just that they’re really like Irish and friendly and just very eccentric, maybe like they’re the people I’ve met and it’s just I love it and I just I’m loving this trip. Love it so much. And Ja just so fun. We’re just stopping, taking pictures, having all the snacks, little sea stops. This is what bike packing is all about, isn’t it? I don’t know where we’re going. No, I know where we’re going. Yeah. Look how beautiful this is. We’ll just say we’ll take the bags off and bring left [Music] in there. What door? One. Oh, what was that? Your Oh, it’s there. Okay. As long as it’s not out the way. Hang on. [Music] Sorry. [Music] Oh, yeah. [Music]

So happy you had great time and saw real Ireland 🇮🇪 can’t wait for next video as I spent 40 years cycling those roads 👌
Finally made it to my land 🇮🇪 enjoy. God's country 🙏
Is it wrong to fall in love, vaguely, with a person on YouTube before 05:15 minutes are up? Missed her name, not sure Seamus Heaney would be concerned about our self forgetfulness
(Genuinely; the 'vaguely' comment is an exaggeration: I'm besotted. YouTube can be SO scary. Also, I lied about being besotted – delighted would be more accurate)
Failte Katie! "Go n-éirí an bóthar leat" – May the road rise to meet ya, or basically good luck on the road 😉
Least yous got proper weather for the trip
first place you stopped is one of my local climbs! its not long but fairly punchy! 😀
Would love to do that ride, my dad's family originated in Co Roscommon, little place named Ballynaghare.
Great choice to go the Copper Coast between Waterford and Dungarven instead of the greenway I did a loop doing both together from the south a few years ago and the coastal road is far more memorable and spectacular. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the trip!
i need to get to Ireland looks amazing, hope you are well
Long time subscriber Katie – welcome to my neck of the woods. Sorry about the prices!
What a treat to turn on and see you ride my local coastal route in Waterford! It's an amazing cycle.
Jaysus you got ripped off. Milk is only around €2.50 in most places.
If you think that's good wait until you get out west Connemara,, Gallimh abu, enjoy every bit of it
Welcome to Ireland and enjoy your cycling.
Someone has seriously ripped you off, Milk is about 1-50 a ltr …. Are you sure you didn’t purchase a creamy pint of Guinness 😂
When are you in the real capital, Cork?
I wish I were there with you, but you'd probably find it annoying because I'd be wanting to stop at every pub we passed for a pint of draft Guinness.
Should went to kerry ur on the wrong coast 😅😅
Father Ted is not a comedy…..it's reality-tv !
Hope you get up to Donegal. Can show you both some fantastic roads, between Donegal town,Glen and around the Wild Atlantic way. Fresh from our team winning the Donegal Ultra 555 on Sat. Enjoy.
Ah Katie this is amazing, so great to see you in my home country, I fell out of cycling for a while after my Dad passed away a couple of years ago and I posted a comment on one of your videos at the time as I'm a subscriber and you were kind enough to write a thoughtful reply, thank you. Anyway, cut to now and I have returned to cycling since the start of this year and when I saw a video popping up of you in Ireland, I thought 'yes, I'm watching that', can't wait to see where you end up and if you need any recommendations be sure to ask, but your route seems really good already. Good to see you having a good laugh and so enthusiastic about Ireland, didn't realise you were a Father Ted fan too, it certainly captures little parts of our culture/eccentricities 🤨Your videos capture what I really like about cycling, its the touring and what you see, the people you meet etc, by all means record on strava, but data shouldn't be why we do it. Enjoy your tour, I look forward to the next videos 😀 have fun
Ha – 12:20 is my local Tesco’s 😂 And the Copper Coast is my outdoor ride on a Sunny Day. And as often as I’ve done it, and as much as I’ve travelled, it still takes my breath away and is still my fav bike ride anywhere on a sunny day. Check out my vid from last year on a ride out around there – brought the drone – just love it. Glad you got to see it.
But the Greenway is a lovely route as well. Flatter 😂
Enjoy Ireland.
Welcome to Ireland!!! The coast was made for bikes. No flat roads tho! Lucky things what a trip.. enjoy
Where was the big shock then🤔🙄
…so Envious of This Whole Trip..One of the first I wrote on My Bucket List!!
can't wait to see this All Unfold….. ❤
Ah, gwan, gwan, gwan 😂
I have been on that ferry!
You are in one of my most favorite countries in the world! I’m envious. What a fabulous way to spend your time away. The Irish are so joyful and fun!
One of the mistakes you can make when long-distance cycling is buying stuff and then not being able to carry it OR eat it all. Throw it to the seagulls? 🤷♂
Amazing place, everyone should visit Ireland at some point!! Thanks for taking us along🚴🏼♀️💨🚴🏼♀️💨
This is so weird to me already – I went back to Ireland last week for my sisters wedding, got the ferry from Holyhead to Dublin. Got bus to family home in Wexford. Next dat cycled to wedding venue through Wicklow mountains, had a delicious Club Orange in the same cafe you did in Laragh. Have only watched a few minutes so far, but loving this!
I hope you went through Ardmore.
One of the most expensive cities in Europe!
I cycled from Derry to Cork down the west coast, amazing place for cycling!
Brilliant. Welcome to Ireland. Raced against Julie-Anne in the Race Around Ireland a good few years ago. It was a pleasure to share the roads with her. Have a blast!
thank you for not showing too much of the real gems you went past – best we don't tell people or it will be crowded
Hey welcome to ireland will you be visting my town waterford ,and we are having a heatwave at the moment
Fair play to ye ladies. Great video. JA has a great laugh. Looking forward to the next video.
That was a lovely video. Thanks.
You have stumbled upon Benvoy where my extended family have gathered over the last 60 years. Brought a tear to my eye, and damn you for sharing what we always regarded as a secret place. Have a great trip and stay in by the ditch!
Hi Katie! It was a real pleasure hosting you both in Mon Petit Cottage (Bunclody)! Your video is brilliant. Please visit us again soon!
Was the big shock that Ireland is expensive?
Call into Killarney and I will treat you to dinner on the hotel I manage.
Did you buy gold infused milk ? I never paid a fiver for milk in Ireland 🇮🇪 😮
€5 for milk, you were done!
Brilliant start to your tour of the Emerald Isle! 🚴♂️😄
Happened upon your video in my feeds and come to just over 2.30 in i find myself in your vid…..🤯 Was in the cafe in Laragh!!!
