First time poster here, thought i'd share.
I caught the bike restoration bug this spring after picking up a neglected mountainbike from the Norwegian used market for around $50.
It was full of rusted bolts, the drivetrain was rusty, the fork had stanchions rusted through. The paint and decals were sunbleached and worn.
I started by revoving rust and lubing it up, but soon figured i wanted to put more effort into it. I changed the fork and drivetrain, removed the paint (huge undertaking) and swapped out rusty bolts and other small parts.
It is a ongoing project, and i Made a bunch of mistakes along the way, like buying an aliexpress fork instead of a manitou markhor, installing the pedals wrong so one of the crank arms got stripped put. But i am learning as i go, and i simply love the process.
Future plans include brushed aluminum finish with chrome silver Cannondale decals, swapping some parts to give it some blue and green accents, and when budget permits, getting a proper fork.
Suggestions are welcome!
