Hate to say it, but I think I prefer this Fly Proton to my Cult AK.
It just feels lighter, easier. Both my Fly and my Cult have 165mm cranks, but I just fitted a 28t sprocket to the Fly. I expected the 165+28/9 to feel like hard work. It’s not, it feels the same but gives me a slightly better top end.
These Shadow Contender tires feel good for the winter too. Quite a hard compound versus the Cult’s Kink Severs, but with a deeper cut tread pattern.
The shadows are 2.35 and the Kinks are 2.40, but the rims are narrower on the Fly (my crappy cheap parts bin wheels) so that makes them narrower in use.
Pretty pleased with this, and for once the chain managed to get spliced together at the perfect length. Not loose, but no so tight it’s going to pop.
This may well end up being my no1 daily choice.
