Last kilometres of the first stage of the 2025 Tour of Denmark, Nexø – Rønne 178.3 km, the 35th edition of the Danish 2.Pro stage race (5). A truly impressive lineup this year, with some very important names at the start, including Mads Pedersen, Philipsen, Skjelmose, Magnus Cort, and Tibor Del Grosso. For the Italians, our own Mirco Maestri will be present. There will be three stages, including today’s stage, one dedicated to sprinters, and a time trial…

Yeah, looking a little bit nervous down towards the the back of the group. Victor Bi, the uh Belgian riders, the first of the chasers hits the ramp. What’s the plan now? Well, it can only be for Matts Patterson to go absolutely rampant on the ramp. Meanwhile, the strongman establishing themselves at the back end of this breakaway group. The first real signs that Magnus Bak Claris has got great legs today, the young rider from the BHSPL Bournehump squad. Meanwhile, the main pelaton and at least one or two dabs there, I think, despite the fact it’s the third of three assaults on the helic. Yeah, it still caught people out every single time. That sharp right corner. And we see now the front of the race whistling down. Just two riders left now in the front and uh yeah, the the majority of the work being done by Yurus Johannes who uh rides to the UAE Emirates and just showing just how strong he is here and he’s not going to make this easy for this uh chasing group. Yeah, just just to talk a little bit about the running once we come off the circuit. It’s a descent before we turn left off the circuit and then we go through a small town there with the town center cobblestones. Then it’s mostly flat roads on the run in this last 14 km until we make a a right hand turn at 4 km to go. Also worth mentioning perhaps that it’s mostly crosswind I think from here down towards the finale and we’re not too far, you know, we’re pretty much on the coast from here to the end as well. So, that’s going to be uh interesting. They’re about to Does someone launch an attack straight away with just over 10 minutes of racing left and think I can hold this one or does it become that just tactical moment where everyone just wants to size each other up and uh see what’s left in the tank? Do they need to be mindful as well of of chasers behind? Are there any groups in between this second group and the Pelaton? We believe that they’ve the Pelaton have hoovered up all of the other chasers. Yeah, at the moment I uh I think it’s just a chasing pelaton and then uh the two leaders that we see now and then the eight chasers I don’t believe that there’s anyone in between certainly not from uh the pictures that we’ve seen. So that pelon be interested we’ve not seen them for a while. Be interesting to see if they’re organized or not behind. Uh want to be the one that’s following him up the line. That’s uh that’s Dal. That’s is it D that’s um Larson I should say. It’s Nicholas Larson. He is one of the stronger riders in this group for sure. The rides through. Here’s an interesting uh rider here. Kubish. All all these riders continuing to give a turn indeed those that have just been closed down including Julius Johansson putting their shoulders to the pump here and it’s down to or it’s back up to I should say 55 seconds. We get further sort of clarification of that gap and hanging on at around the minute mark. as you say that, you know, you get a uh you get a 50 second head start through stage one in the tour of Denmark. All eyes on that time trial coming on stage three. Uh Patterson super motivated to put as much drive, as much daylight between himself and other GC favorites here. Are we going to see one or two riders maybe think, well, you know, these riders are absolutely going to ride this one all the way to the line? Maybe, just maybe, I can sit on here, save a little bit of energy, and that might just even things up in the in the uh in the sprint when if if Person has made huge efforts to try and secure more of a GC advantage. Yeah, I think it really can. I think kind of for some guys in this group if they want to win the stage they’ve got to take the biggest gamble of their careers where you just sit behind you uh maybe suffer a little bit of abuse from the other riders about hey why you’re not doing your turn come on let’s ride we need to stay away you have to just kind of ignore that a little bit and just take that gamble that you know you could be riding to a stage victory here and it’s not always it’s not always the strongest riders that are going to win. It’s going to be the guys that are a little bit smart and I think yeah, you can uh for sure need to play that card. If you’re a fast finisher and you know, hey, I can spring a surprise here then uh yeah, why wouldn’t you play that card? Was funny almost don’t qu shout to the three riders behind him. At least two of them were in that early break. So, they might have the limited resources to deploy in this scenario at any rate. And I think we may be just losing one off the back here. Is it their rider from Dathlon? Indeed, it is. Who potentially is heading towards the jersey today. So he might have tripped the podium anyway, but Mario Sinhogdal is is not boxing clever here. He’s just simply getting dropped. Yeah, he’s not looking so happy and uh he’s drinking as frantically as possible. So kind of think maybe he’s just suffering a little bit with cramp there um over the course of the last couple of kilometers, but he for sure didn’t look too happy there. Yeah, complicated. He’ll struggle to absorb that Joe between the end of the race boat. Hey, they’re eating for tomorrow as well, aren’t they? and uh he’s gulping down anything that will make him feel like he’s possibly going to recover to go again in the finale as we’re down to the final 3 and a half km. Does anybody have it for uh for attack? You feel that the riders flapping around at the back here from the early move much as they’d like to attack just are simply going to try and stay in the wheels as long as possible and perhaps secure a big result. Ulysia Hannison is going to take them down and as you mentioned there’s a little bit of descending in this finale. Yeah, we come now off uh off the main road and we’re going into the descent which will uh help the breakaway to just hold that advantage now and they’re not going to be too scared about getting caught here. The descent finishes 2.2ks to go where we enter the town and then it becomes a little bit more narrow. Big crowds out at every single junction along the way. It’s not a huge population on the on home as I mentioned just 40,000 of a population. Indeed, it dipped below 40,000 for the first time in uh in a 100 years as I suppose the sort of regression we’ve seen it all over Europe and and further a field as population sort of gravitates towards the big urban centers and they’re putting island life on the map here though today into the final 2 and a half km. Pettison on the front. Kubis immediately latches on and rolls through. Kubis, the National Road Race Champion of Slovakia, going for something a little bit special today and worthy to take the win. We’re going to uh come into town now and then down a bit. Yeah. Yeah, we’re going to make our uh our right turn coming up at just over one and a halfks to go and then uh we’re really deep into the final. And like you said, the gap is coming down, but I don’t think they’ll be too worried about that. That’s also a little bit natural as they run in. They will lose a little bit of time, but um they’re still working fairly well together here. William Bloom Levy as well and part of this group already mentioned him. Uno X Mobility have an option here and they have an opportunity to to go for Glory Dui is hanging on in there. He’s been in the break all day and he’s fighting fighting to try and stay involved at the back of the move for the team Flanders. Balos going to finish sixth in the Grand Prix champion Monsole in the classic season. Here comes Johannes again from the back. We know about it. the rest of them are just about to find out. Yeah, really nice move there as he rolls through, but it’s just before the corner. It just uh all squeezes up together again once more as uh we’re going to come onto the main road towards the finish at just over 1ks to go. So, we’re going to see this big sweeping roundabout now. Here we go onto the main road. And now it’s just a straight line all the way into this final. Yeah, Johannes needed a bigger gap, didn’t he? by be by the time he got onto the brakes there. All he really achieved was uh was a big effort to make it to the front of the group and that played absolutely perfectly. Well, here you go. Verui fancies a little bit of something. He’s managed to save a few jewels of energy and he’s going to play his card. Who’s going to try and fix the problem here? Well, immediately it’s goes to the front to try and close it down. Victor Vui. What a famous victory it would be indeed for Belgium Flers Balwis. Has he got enough energy saved? This is exceptional stuff. Johannes sits on the tail of Matias Scalmozi. He doesn’t want to help the little Trek squad. Matt Person just has to believe Kubis is doing something similar. Has indeed William Bloom Levy and the rest in this group. Larson second from the back. Also got Hadad in here. That was a great move. Great opportunity to try and go solo. Didn’t work out. But we’ll work our way down into the conclusion of this stage. And it’s going for Glory. Mads Patterson. No one’s going to deny him. It’s going to be more glory for Mads Penis on day one of Tour of Denmark. Arms in the air. Kubis comes up but doesn’t quite get there in time. And into Rona, it is the former world champion, a two-time winner of this event, Mads Person who takes yet another stage victory, the fifth of his career in the Tour of Denmark. And Mads Pettison gets up to convert. And that was slam dunk really for the lead squad. It came in as the outright favorites for overall honors in this race. Certainly his favorites for stage honors today. The Pelaton rushing through and into the closing stages. This Vance Gold’s getting up to take the minor honors perhaps. Frustration really for the Inox squad. Mind you, they did have William Bloom Levy in the group up front, but it’s glory for Mads Person. He takes the win.

fine commenting from the pundits, nice race, strong finish
I don't think anyone will beat Mads Peterson or Skjelmose. It would surprise me if someone else won.😊
Great teamwork.
Wow, the nicest dude in the peloton won. Congrats.
