My father picked up these two road bikes many years ago and they've just been sitting in my garage collecting dust. He was going to work on them but unfortunately he past away two years ago. They're actually in pretty good shape. Front and rear brakes work on both, and they need to be cleaned. The only think that they need are new tires, and the handlebars need to be re-wrapped. Im thinking about selling them but I'm unsure. Advice appreciated!

  1. Just looked up the bikes and the red one appears to be a vintage peugeot carbolite 103, and the blue one is an astra tour de belique if that helps!

  2. The red one has a problem with the drivetrain. Either the chain is too long or the derailleur spring is too weak to take up the slack. I suspect if you really inspect/test these things you will find at least a few more issues.

If I had them I think I would just donate them or offer them up for free on craigslist. There is not much value in them. Selling them as-is might get you $50 US each if you find the right buyers. That’s stretching it though, probably more like $30 each. To fix them up properly would probably cost at least $100 each. Afterward you still wouldn’t be able to sell them for more than maybe $75 each.

The main issue with them is that they are old/obsolete but not interesting enough to be valued by collectors.
