HGV Driver here. The comments section is literally full of idiots.
As HGV drivers, we are commonly known to be "professional drivers," and as so , I can confidently say , regardless of how the car is parked / broken down, this situation is 100% the HGV drivers fault, end of.
I know someone who uses his phone and drives all the time. I ended up stopping contact over it.
The same people blaming the car parked on the side of the road are the same people who blame women for being raped based on what they’re wearing.
Yet the thugs who followed my parents into their house AND STOLE thousands of pounds and ran off only got a CAUTION…
I’ll never text and drive my truck again LOL although I only do it at red lights
I though mercedes had some auto brakes
I'm 70 years old, you have no idea how often we see people looking at their phone rather than looking where they are driving on traffic.
Car on middle of a road? Wtf
They need jail time too
The driver was in the wrong. No excuse for using a phone. But also the driver of the car should have pulled all the way off the road and also put the hazard lights on and being well away from the car🤦♂️
First things first. Who doesn't steer their car off the side off the road after they notice their car broke down? Second of all. Mobile phones are prohibited when operating ANY vehicle. Justice is deserved for this lorry driver. Hate it when drivers use a phone while driving…
"Hi, he's a crazy dad looking at his phone" Ahh dad😭💀
The morons who left their car in the road contributed to the accident. That was intentional idiocy.
Driver was extremely stupid, but prison time for a nonviolent driving offence without malicious intent is a bit much imo
It could have been much, much worse, he could've tweeted something the snowflakes didn't like, and might now be facing a life sentence😂😂😂😂😂😂
Is that all he got, he should have been fined for using his phone whilst driving. And banned from driving.
So basically, he got away with it then. Great justice striks again. What a joke. Not even band from driving.
What was the car doing half on the lane in the first place!! 😮. Yes its Lorry driver fault – but the car was reckless and risked their lives!! What if both lanes had traffic!!
He nocked down the elderly woman with the blue coat.😮😮😮😢😢😢😢and he shouldnt be on his phones kts dangerouse
CDL and Freedom are gone all cuz he couldn’t wait until he stopped to check his phone
WHY wouldn’t you attempt to get your car completely off the road even if it’s broken down? Use the momentum you still have to get off the carriageway. It’s not rocket science, and why don’t they have any hazard lights on.
Awful, never any excuse for being on a mobile while driving.
Still got less than some just putting out a tweet
Just as well it wasn’t a stupid tweet he sent or he would of got suspended for wreckless endangerment of lives & life for a tweet
It's a truck not a lorry
Why did they park half in the road? Then they walk to a spot where they could have pulled even farther off the road?
Vehicular manslaughter in the US will get you a fine but no jail often. In the US he would be back at his job the next day.
All it takes is 2 seconds of distraction.
Why are they not standing behind the barrier?
You've been told countless times to drive and be distracted by phones. Why would you even think about it?
Prison king 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
That is not a professional driver. Why would anyone even do this with a camera trained on them?
I see people doing this everyday in the US….not crashing, but with DUI-behaviors, driver, head down.
ESPECIALLY around a blind corner or over a hill! There's always someone or something going on around or over them. It never fails..
that'll teach him/ they're all pretty much the same from what I've seen on the road. Dangerous.
Just sums the world up today. Everyone blaming the parked car but not the idot looking at his phone and not the road. If thats a 40 ton lorry the damage it could have done is unthinkable, ban him from driving for life.
Both are at fault
One has a phone in their hand
The other has their car half in the road
This is America 🥀
He's a trucker. The roads are privately owned by him. He doesn't care what you think, you have no right to use his roads, he doesn't care about the law either.
Me and 2 truck drivers get emotional
When we do not see them
But I seen them today

Fool
no phone when driving!!!!!
dude this is 50/50 life thw cars not on the shoulder (yea they didn't have time PUSH THE CAR) both should be in jail
A lorry or truck driver should never be distracted from driving a large and heavy vehicle period..especially being on a phone..you are a danger to the smaller vehicles around you..😮
The mighty professionals of the road as they're claiming.
If anyone was killed, prison was necessary but little people realise how bad prisone really is and even if such a thing happens you must be suspended and pay a huge fine
:(noooooooo
I got magnet on steering wheel so I don’t have to look away from road
next time, pay attention to the road
Tf is a lorry
