The Col de Tougnète is claimed to be France’s hardest mountain pass and the last 8km are reserved exclusively for bikes. The climb starts in Mountiers climbing the quiet D96 road to St Martin de Belleville where it joins the main Val Thorens road as far as les Menuires. It then branches off onto a cycle track to the col. This was only opened in 2022 so is entirely new.
