A short trip for myself to Worksop. Even managed to drag Dyl along, yes paying for his ticket helped. Though I got him to pay for the food, bucket of chips with gravy £6. Cheers Dyl 👏👏

So the last pre season friendly before we get on to league action. Worksop having just been promoted to National League North. Was a good test for us, few ex Scunthorpe players in the ranks too. First half we started with 5 at the back, changed to a 4 throughout the first half. Oli Rose starting since his move on a permanent from Peterborough. Also a debut for the new away shirt, for me the better of the two shirts we have released. First half we were by the far better of the teams. Plenty of chances created, though as tends to happen not converted and the one that was took a deflection before nestling in the back of the net. 0-1 Plenty of the ball and lots of good passing/movement. Oli Rose took a nasty blow, which didn’t see him come out for the second half.

This half, Worksop looked a lot more of a threat. Keeping the ball well and creating chances. That’s not to say we didn’t have our moments too. Chances created, just the final execution. Eventually Worksop pulling a goal back after the ball had pinged around the box. Campbell made a smart save too, didn’t have lots to do truth be told. Though when he was called in to action he dealt with it. Other than a bit of petulance by Danny and a stoppage in play because of a drone flying overhead, not a lot else to say really.

Yes the game had some good moments, though at times it felt like the first game of pre season. Dyl said it was a bit flat. Still felt like we weren’t sure of th formation either. I thonk the team that started will predominantly feature for out first game, maybe a couple of changes. All in all though, we’ll be judged at Tamworth. Hearing they like to keep it on the floor now and play. So whatever happens, let’s get behind them from the off. 800 away fans backing them, credit to all going 👏👏👏 #UTI

Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] This is why I left. That’s our ball. Get your book. Lovely. Offside. Great ball. That was it. Oh, great ball across and Starbucks has just put it wider at the post. Um, we are dominating this game. In all fairness, they’ve had a couple of chances early doors, but um yeah, we’ve just got to do something with the ball now and get it in the net. Good. You don’t need to come. You don’t really honestly How good is he? Yes. Been a matter of time really. It’s been coming. I thought he took too long there though. But car Roberts does doing Car Roberts things. Oh, no. Voices there. Oh, is it Brandon Rose? Yeah, a bit of a arm there dragged him down. Smashed it into the floor. Bit naughty that. [Music] Yeah, Joe Rley is on. Who’s he on for? Do we know or is it Rose? Oh, he took that knock, didn’t he? Four at the back now. [Music] rest. [Music] Oh, [Applause] save. Really good save. Ref is all over him there. Danny like ref wants him and he’s walked off and then he’s called Boyy over to get him. [Applause] me when I told Kendall off. Deb, Deb, come here. Get get. [Applause] So, just missed workshop towns goal. Um, bit of a scramble’s been put in. One all. They have played better in the second half in all fairness. Um, I think we switched off a bit. There was a man over as well just before the goal. Like I said, works off in the second half for me. Playing better football. [Music] [Applause] Come on, refle this game on 73rd minute right now and this it feels like an early preseason game. We’re just finding our feet on the pitch and so there’s no real tempo or anything like that. Um, it’s a weird one. I’ll be honest. Um, you know, there’s been good passing, good movement. You know, I’m not going to deny that. But it does feel like early preseason, not the last game before the season starts. I don’t want any else thinks that’s been [Music] through there, Billy. looking. So, we had a stoppage in play. Somebody’s flying a drone over the pitch. Can you believe it? Five minutes left and a drone stops play. Not again. [Applause] [Applause] [Music] one. Go on. What did you reckon, mate? Yeah, a bit flat. Um, we look better with Robert’s on. Obviously, a little bit flat. Still not sure what formation we’re going to use in the start of the season. Hopefully not the five back, but uh hopefully we can uh have a good start at Tamworth like uh we did a couple of years ago. And uh good luck to work town in the National League

  1. Although pre season games don't really paint a true picture, commenting on the games that I have seen, I have to say that, in my opinion, that Scunny are looking at a long, hard season ahead. The strength in depth of the squad, and injuries to key players, will be a determining factor. I'm not really convinced that some of the players are of a National League standard. Wishing Andy and his team all the best for the forthcoming season and hopefully a final position of consolidation.
