Hello guys and welcome to Belgrade, Serbia. Yeah, I’m excited. Yeah, it looks
pretty spectacular, isn’t it? Wow. So, it looks like we’ve got a proper view out.
My body’s rejecting it. I can’t I can’t. So, it’s our first ever time in this country. We’re
super super excited. We’re going to get our first impressions of this place. We got some really fun
things planned for today and we cannot wait to see what this culture is all about. The food’s
all about and the top things to do are here. First stop is Republic Square, which is
essentially a public square right in the middle of Belgrade, but it is so lively.
We’ve got the National Museum behind me. I’ve got the theater over there. It’s just
like a big meeting point in the middle, which the locals actually call Kota. So
if you uh want to meet one of your mates, you say koda, which means by the horse,
which is the big statue. So Abby, if you lose me later and I’ve had like four or
five pints and I shout at you, where are you? Cot that means I meet you by the bloody horse. All
right, now we’re walking down the main shopping street here, which is almost like Oxford
Street in London, basically. I’m not going to again theme of this video is Gaz butchering
names of stuff. Yeah, we’ll just put it on the screen to to call it, but yeah, it’s got some
really interesting architecture. So, like some of the buildings look like normal. I don’t know
how you’d describe like buildings. Yeah. Yeah. Industrial style buildings. And then you got
ones like this that have like really intricate like balconies that are really really beautiful
and then it goes to like glass buildings. So, it’s like a real mashup of say it’s more Austrian
Hungarian architecture. Would you say architecture over here? I think so. for a central city.
It’s giving off kind of Manchester vibes, isn’t it? Yeah, I thought that when she when
we arrived cuz the restaurants and the shops and everyone looks quite like cool and hip
and edgy, don’t you? Yeah. The women look so beautiful. Literally, that’s why I’ve got
makeup on today. No comment. I’m joking. I’m joking. You’re the most beautiful. Yeah, it’s very
trendy city, isn’t it? It feels like that. Yeah. Delicious. We have just entered Calamagen Fortress and Park,
which is a stark contrast from the main shopping street which is just behind us. It’s so close to
the center, isn’t it? Yeah. I think it’s like the most touristy thing to do here as well. So, if
you come into Belgrade, this is like probably number one on what to do. And you can see it
cuz as soon as you’ve arrived there’s loads of souvenir stores to get coffee, ice cream. You
can see the fort just ahead as well. Yeah, I can see football tops. That’s how you know you’re in
a tourist area. If you can get the local football tops of the players. There’s like socks of prime
ministers on there as well. I don’t know who most of those people are. I’m not going to lie. Maybe
we should have done a history tour. Yeah. But wow, it’s really really beautiful and peaceful,
isn’t it? like calm with loads of benches, lots of historical artifacts. Apparently,
it’s been around since the Roman times. So, it’s over 1,800 years old, this fort area. So,
G, you’re probably going to nerd out in a bit over the history, aren’t you? Oh, wow.
I think we can get some views over here. Wow. So, it looks like we’ve got a proper view
out to the city here because obviously when you’re actually in the epicenter of the city, you can’t
really get the vibe whilst you’re walking around. But look at this. It’s obviously b like built
around this massive river that’s right next to us. And it’s got like a bit of an industrial feel
to like the cityscape essentially. Not that many like skyrises to be honest in this outlook. And
then lots of bridges. And also yesterday night we arrived and I went for a run all the way along a
river and it was absolutely beautiful and that’s where we spotted we think is a little hidden gem
restaurant we’re going to try like pretty soon. So, we’ve done the park bit and now we’re
entering the exciting historical bit, the fort. So, this is actually one of the
most attacked forts in the whole of Europe due to its strategic location on the river.
And it’s actually been attacked and like rebuilt over 40 times by like the Romans,
the Ottomans, the Austrohungarian Empire, and the Serbs. So, there’s a lot
of history that’s gone on here. So this is literally where the
river Sava meets the river Danube, which is literally the meeting of the Balkans and
Central Europe, which is pretty cool. Right here, you can see in the background, one big river
there. Oh, and one big river just there. Nice. Behind me is the Victor Monument,
which is Serbia’s national symbol. It was built in 1928 to celebrate victories of
World War I and the Balkans War. So, in his hand, he’s got a falcon in one hand to represent peace
and a sword in the other to represent war. Um, can’t really get a good view of it, but he’s
looking out to see the two rivers meeting. It’s time for my second favorite thing of the
day, apart from his historical sightseeing. You got it right, Abby. And that is
food. Now, you can’t visit a new country, especially a capital city, without trying
the local cuisine. And it just so happens that the stuff I’ve been eating in the Balkans
has been pretty spectacular so far. So, yeah, we found somewhere that we spotted after our run
the other night. It’s got really good reviews, and it says local Serbian restaurant. So,
it’s a no-brainer, isn’t it, ABS? It is. So, come to a place called Janoon Mik. I’ll
leave the location on the screen, but it looks really cool. It’s like definitely a traditional
Serbian restaurant cuz the interior is like just giving Serbian like checkered green tablecloths.
There’s like driving number plates all around. There’s like little old school like telephones
and pictures and it has a really cool vibe. And obviously behind us, I think is a big group of
Serbian men. So, it’s a good sign. I think we’ve picked somewhere very local. We’ve gone for I’ll
show you I’ll show you the food when it comes, but we’ve gone for traditional food here. And then
apparently the salad I’ll say it now cuz I won’t be able to pronounce it later. She saids salad,
which is a traditional Serbian salad as well. So, I’m very excited for this meal actually. So,
we’ve literally got a mountain of cheese here. It sounded like it was a Greek salad, like
cucumber, tomato, and it said feta cheese, but the amount of cheese grated on top here is
crazy. And the lady did say that it was local. Got a bit of onion in there. I think the
cheese is going to be the best bit. Cheers. Tastes like fat cheese. It’s so cheesy for
a salad. It’s definitely not the healthiest, but it’s absolutely delicious. I for one,
I’m not a massive fan of salad. No way. A bit strong of cheese for me, but it’s not bad.
It’s not bad. A bit too cheesy. I can hear a little bit because we have this. No problem. Thank
you. Enjoy. What’s this called? What’s the name? Oh, thank you. Okay. Okay. So, I’ve
seen these around and I’ve always wanted to try one and they are called
pies. I’m probably saying that wrong, but it sounds something like the waitress says,
but essentially it’s like a big beef burger um or like a big meat patty and then inside
of it, it’s got bacon, I think, sour cream, onion, and all stuff like that. But let’s just
start with these chips because I like a good French fry. Trying them. And these are like proper
crispy crunchy potatoes, like homemade. Oh my god. I could just eat a plate plate of these. Let’s try
this bad boy. Shall we bit of meat I’ve ever seen. Yeah. Look at this. The biggest burger ever. Wow.
Seeing if there’s a better bit in there now. So, it’s all kind of mixed in it, if you
know what I mean. I’m just cutting it now. Look at that. And it’s like oozing.
The juice is oozing out. Yeah. I’m excited. M. That’s mad. That is so crispy on the outside,
so soft. It’s like when you buy like a really nice like pure meat burger, and then I just got
like a moist bit in the middle with an onion, soft onion in the middle. Essentially like a
bake where they put stuff inside of a burger, which is something I’ve never had before.
I would honestly rate this meal. I’ve Aby’s going to show you hers and I’ve had a lot of them,
but this is something else. 10 out of 10 for me. Wowza. So, we’ve had chapi quite a few times
in the Balkans now, but in case you’re new to our channel, it is essentially like these
are ve sausages and they’re like basically got like no crap in them. It’s just like pure
meat, salt, and a bit of paprika usually and some potatoes. And they are just absolutely
bloody delicious and we’ve become obsessed with them. I think all tourists are obsessed
with them. So, let’s give this one a try. so succulent and like really quite fatty but
in a good way, you know, like really oily, but because it’s good meat, if you know what
I mean. Look at the portion size. It’s wild. And just to correct myself earlier, it’s
it’s based on the former Yugoslavia estate, which is why it looked so traditional when we
walked in. Yeah, it’s got pictures of the guy everywhere. We’ve worked it out now, but
yeah, what a win this restaurant is. So, you guys have to come check
this out if you’re in Belgrade. I am absolutely stuffed. I could not
eat another piece of meat right now. Okay, for our next destination, we now have to get
a bus across the city. Now, don’t make the same mistake as us. When we arrived in Belgrade, we
kept trying to get public transport. So, we kept trying to get on the bus, but we couldn’t get to
the bus driver to buy a ticket. So, we were like, “Oh my god, for an hour and a half, we were like,
“How the hell do we get public transport here?” Kept Googling it. Nothing was coming up. Anyway,
went to a news stand, asked her there. And the guy behind me in the queue was like, “Public
transport’s been free since the 1st of January, 2025. So, you can get any bus tra inside the
city center for free.” Busy and hot that was. Wow. So, this church behind us is one of
the largest Orthodox churches in the world. It’s called St. Sava. It’s 82 meters high
and has I think 49 bells. But look at it. It’s actually insane. It really takes over
the skyline here when you get it’s crazy big. I’ve never seen a church like it in my
life. But yeah, it looks pretty spectacular, doesn’t it? They actually started building this
church in 1935, but it is still not finished. due to I think it’s World War II communism
and the Yugoslavian wars. So yeah, pretty um that’s a theme in the Balkans, isn’t
it? Unfinished churches and stuff like that. Obviously, I guess when there’s been a
lot of war, a lot of stuff needs replacing, but looks pretty finished to me. It’s like the
Belgrade Cigard familiar, you know, the one in um Barcelona that wasn’t finished. Marble here looks
spectacular and shiny. It’s so white, isn’t it? So grand. It’s amazing. And I bet it’s going to
look sick inside. Yeah, it’s going to look good. Wow. So, we are not religious, but
that was an absolute work of art, wasn’t it? It was so Why did you sound so
Norman? Absolute bloody work of art. Honestly, one of the most beautiful churches I’ve ever
seen. It was so gold. So many intricate designs, mosaics everywhere. Surely it’s finished. Like,
yeah, I think I feel like it Oh, look. Well, actually, still a little bit. I’d say it’s like
99.9% finished. Yeah, but it was insane. Like I think even if you know you’re not religious like
us, seeing grand buildings like that and all of the work that must have gone into gold as well,
wasn’t it? Yeah. And also like the music playing like you did feel like you were in a trance.
Like you couldn’t breathe. You didn’t want to speak to each other in there because it did feel
like a very religious kind of space with energy around it. So insane. Also, it’s free. Yeah. Free.
Everything we’ve done today, apart from obviously paying for a meal, but all of our activities
have been free, which has been fantastic, including the bus ride. Yeah, they’re really cool.
Really, really, really loving Belgrade so far. We come to a place called Okay. No. But we just
saw loads of locals sat outside drinking. It’s in this really beautiful street with loads of
trees in lots of shade. And I’ve got my first I’m ashamed to say been in the Balkans for
two to three weeks. I’ve got my first rakia. I got I asked the guy, “What’s the best one you
recommend?” He said, “Get the apricot one.” So, I’ve got the apricot one. It’s in this very, very
fancy glass. Like, I don’t know if you meant to sip it or shut it, but I’ll give it and run.
Sit. I’m scared. That smells so strong, right? Oh, sorry. I’m trying not to be loud cuz they
like that. That is the strongest thing I’ve ever tasted in my whole entire life. I don’t
know how you It’s meant to taste like apricot. Sip it. I’m meant to sip it. It’s meant to taste
meant to taste like apricot. It literally tastes like pure bleach. Am I drinking it wrong?
I have no idea what I’m supposed to. So, if anyone’s from Serbia, let me know. Am I
supposed to drink this with food? Am I doing it all wrong? But I only taste alcohol.
I don’t taste any flavor whatsoever. My body’s rejecting it. I can’t. The Iraqi is here, guys. It is absolutely no
joke. I was saying to Gas, I feel absolutely slaughtered. I had one glass of wine. I’m on
my second. The Iraqi is here. Gaz is wetting himself cuz my eyes are watering and I feel so
much more drunk. I had We had a few wines last night. Way more drunk now. We’ve got to pack our
bags for tomorrow. We do have to pack our bags. We’re heading off to uh Budapest tomorrow.
So, we need to pack our bags. We got work to finish off and I’m just absolutely hammered.
Anyway, I guess we’ll Oh, hang on. What the hell’s going on here? Watch this guy. Motor
bike. Have you ever seen that before? Yeah. I need that kind of bike. Anyway, I guess we’ll
just finish off our uh Belgrade vlog now before I get too drunk that I can’t speak and it won’t make
it onto the internet. But we have absolutely loved it here. It’s been such a vibe. Could definitely
live in the city. It really reminds me of like a bit of our old hometown Manchester with like the
kind of bars and restaurant vibes. Got loads of cool things to do as a tourist. I feel like if
we had more time, there’s a lot more areas of the city to explore and the night life. And yeah,
apparently the night life’s meant to be amazing, but we’ll never know, will we? Get too drunk to
experience it. But yeah, it’s sick. We’ve had such a great first impression of Serbia, and everyone’s
been so lovely that we’re going to have to come back. This is very a fleeting visit around Europe,
but we’re just having little testers of places. So, yeah, this will be on our list to go into more
detail in the future. If you’ve liked the video, give us a thumbs up, hit the subscribe
button, and we’ll see you in Budapest. Bye.

Добродошли у мајку Србију, наш дом је ваш дом.
Welcome 🇷🇸❤️
Shocked?? Why? What did you expect? Detroit? Ghana? Ulan Bator?
Kafana SFRJ – the restaurant has all the symbolism of the former Yugoslavia… so it's more a Yugoslav restaurant than a Serbian one. I mean, the food is Serbian, but everything around you has Yugoslav-symbolism.
Great video, thanks mates.
Abby covered her shoulders in the church, which was a very respectful gesture.
I'm glad you had a great time in our Belgrade, come to Zemun, Novi Sad, beautiful Subotica.
Any bus, tram, or trolleybus in Belgrade is free. Exception: Mini bus lines marked "E" are not free – 200 dinars per ride. From the airport, bus 72 is free, but shuttle A1 is not free (400 dinars per person). The Saint Sava Temple is finished (exterior and interior), they are just working on the outside park and plateau now and maybe some very, very small works.
Great.

No one except serious alcoholics with good alcohol conditioning drinks hard alcoholic beverages in our country in that way.
You are shocked by what…What did you expect wild tribes running around naked and dancing around the fire to summon rain???😂
This is a few years ago
