Just how hard is the 2025 Tour to France? Harder than you think. Check this out. This year’s race covers 3,338 km or 2,74 miles across 21 stages. That’s about the same distance as going from Los Angeles all the way to Atlanta or Madrid to Moscow. But those aren’t flat miles. The racers will have to climb 52,500 m or 172,200 ft. Breaking that down, they are averaging 2500 m or 8,200 ft of climbing per day. By the end of the tour, they will have climbed the equivalent elevation of summiting Everest all the way from sea level nearly six times. So, how many calories does it take to do all of that? A ton. That’s a lot of fish. Even with drafting, an athlete like Todd Pogachar, reigning Tour Def France champion, is likely to burn somewhere around 101,000 calories throughout the tour. to not finish in a calorie deficit, he’d have to consume 18.3 hot dogs per day. If you stacked all 385 of those hot dogs on end, they’d be taller than the Statue of Liberty. But of course, cyclists don’t eat hot dogs on the bike. Instead, these pros are likely to consume around one liter of fluid per hour and consume as much as 120 g of carbs, or the equivalent of four cans of Cokes per hour while they’re on the bike for all 21 stages. Depending on the product, that’s likely somewhere around $900 US worth of high carb drink mix and energy gels. And the craziest part is all this sugar is still likely to leave him with somewhere around a 60,000 calorie deficit that he’ll need to make up. These are the greatest athletes at the greatest race in the world, and we can’t wait to see it all unfold. Put your pick for the top three in the comments below. 1. TR is hands down best platform to make you faster, stronger. The AI next workout detection and algorithm FTP detection are spot on, no more ramp tests. The Triathlon training program is better than what you'll find on Training Peaks

  2. When you listen to some of the interviews with Armstrong's team men (and sure some of the others too) you can get the impression they're eating less than they'd like to for meals, hiding some of the food for their hosts, and therefore dieting to keep the weight down. So this conflicts with that.
