Little while ago now, but my friend organised a trip on the An Turas Mor trail. I was super hyped to be going on my first big one. Bike had been serviced and I have all the gear.
First few days were wet but really fun, had an odd mechanical when my rear brake would fade in and out (hydraulic) bit other than that it was fantastic. Fast riding 90% of the time and great views.
Sadly on the 5th day, at the start of the day my crank (which was new on and installed by a shop) decided to give up the ghost. We managed to get it back on with the help of my knee and a rock, but didn't want to possibly deal with that again in a more remote area or at a higher speed. As it was I was lucky it came off on a climb.
Still had 30 or so miles to go to the next place, so slow easy riding to catch a train back.
Wasn't all too bad, spent the first two legs with a gent in his 70's who'd been out on his todd doing something similar to us. Kept me entertained until glasgow and got me an irn bru to boot.
Will be back at some point to do the rest of it, gutted I didnt make it to Cape Wrath with my mate.
Warning in the last photo, use smidge liberally…. damn midges got hands.
