Hey everybody and welcome back to the channel. Today we’re going to have a new discussion about who is the goat of women’s cycling. After what I saw over the weekend and finishing up the the women’s tour to France, I’d like to start talking about Pauline Faron Pervo in that same category of goat that we usually reserve for people like Jeannie Longo from the old days or an Floyd with her six grand tour wins or Mariana Voss who’s won pretty much everything in multiple times. And it’s not that she just won the tour to France. Now remember, she won the world championship road race 11 years ago back in 2014. She’s won world championships in cyclacross, in gravel. She’s won world championships five times in cross-country mountain biking. She’s won the world marathon championship in mountain biking twice. She’s won short track world championships twice. Um eighttime world cup winner in mountain bike. Yeah, sure. That’s her specialty. But if you look at the other ladies, they’ve got the specialty in road racing and a little bit somewhere else. Okay, Mariana Voss, she’s right there. But she didn’t have the mountain biking part. And there’s just such a huge body of work now from polling for faran provo in mountain biking that I think it just takes it to another level that she’s won not only the tour to France this year but she also won par rupé this year and she finished top three in a couple other um classics you know so really this race over the weekend to see how she played everyone in the tour to France how she really really uh strategy-wise was was unbeatable. Just sitting there, sitting there, sitting there, you know, always just a few seconds back, always off the sec the second or third wheel, you know, when when people were starting to move up, move up, move up, super quiet, nothing nothing out of the ordinary. And then bam on Saturday on that massive massive uh day with what 30 was it 3,400 meters of of climbing something insane for a women’s tour to France uh stage and she just distanced everybody by multiple minutes going uphill and what she showed on on climbs like the cold delay I mean she put two three four minutes into the some of the best road racers in the world you you know, and and this is the first year she had said, “Okay, three-year plan. I’ve got a contract with with um Visa Lisa Bike and and I hope that I can win the tour in these three years.” In three years, first try. I mean, winning Perry Rubé early in the year. Uh that’s great, but it’s a one day and now we have the longest tour to France FEM that we’ve had with nine days, you know, well over 1,000 kilometers. Um, and she just played it perfectly, strategically, perfectly. So for me when I watch this and then you know to cap it off you know to to come back in yellow on Sunday take the final stage which was another uh category 1 category HC category 1 climb and to just again show everybody that when it was time I think it was about 6 and a half kilometers to go that she was ready to go um nobody could go with her. It was it was over. And and I think because she had put so much time into everybody else on Saturday that they were just like, “What what can we do? There’s no way we can buy, you know, claw back two, three, four minutes or whatever. We’re we’re all just going for second place.” So, so the chasers, they just kind of fought amongst themselves. I mean, in the end, you got, you know, what you you thought you’d get. You’ve got Demi Bowlering in in second and you’ve got Neodoma in third. Uh Nev was right up there too, you know, uh at the end those those four riders had really distanced themselves from everybody else, but it was really, you know, Pauline Faron Provo who just they call her PFP. I’m going to start calling her the goat. I know Mariana Boss fans are going to get annoyed at that, but look at the body of work. I think if she’s not already there with Mariana Voss, she’s really really close. And you know, if she comes back and wins the Welta this year, maybe the Jirro next year because we we know there’s only one woman from what I found, only one woman who’s won all three. I know the Welta and the Tour are are new, especially in their current renditions. the the Jurro is old, but if she gets all three of them in this three-year contract that she has with with Visma, that would really really solidify her in my opinion as as the GOAT. So, that’s where we are. A super exciting tour to France FEM uh super exciting race u and really a dominant strategy and a dominant performance by PFP in the last two days the two hardest days to just you know separate from everybody else and dominate that race in a way I don’t think anybody expected that she could. So uh I I really really enjoyed the race and and look forward to you know the future races for the women. you know, we got I think all three are done now for the season because they hold the women’s welt. I keep thinking about the welt, but it’s the men coming up in a couple of weeks. Um, but to see next year uh what she can do in the VA and the Jirro. Um, and see if she can’t end up with one of each of the grand tours before she’s done. She’s 33 years old. She’s been doing this solid for what 15 16 years now since, you know, she had multiple world titles as a junior. Um, and yeah, I think it’s just going to be really exciting to see what she can do now. Um, you know, off the back of this victory at the Tor France Fam. So, that’s what I got for you today and we’ll see you again real soon. Bye now.

Been following PFP in the mt biking scene for ages. I knew her retiring from XC meant she was going to the road to see how much she could dominate.
has to be the goat … its not just about wins … its about body of work … she is still the only rider ever to hold 3 world titles in 3 different disciplines at the same time in the same year … have watched pauline since she came into xc with liv rabo team around 2010 or 2011… pauline always hold marianne to the highest level and mentor when she started as a pro … pauline had injury and issues with her iliac artery which took a few years ..almost made her quit cycling … for me the greatest all round cyclist there has been man or woman …. dont know if you ever watch ladies xc racing … its by far the best racing in cycling .. always close .super battles on track . fantastic to watch … winning the tour is incredible , this time last year give or take it was taking the gold at the olympics xc and won it easy with almost 3 minutes over haley batten from the usa ..
