Paris to Lisbon – Day 2: From Sacré-Cœur to Château de Chambord

Day 2 of my bikepacking journey starts with a sunrise ride to Sacré-Cœur, overlooking the rooftops of Paris. From there, I explore some of the city’s most iconic landmarks—the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, and Champs-Élysées—before catching a train to Orléans and continuing along the stunning EuroVelo 3 route through the Loire Valley.

I stop for coffee by the Eiffel Tower, visit Café du Cycliste for some bike geekery, and then it’s time to leave the city behind. Once in Orléans, I ride along quiet riverside paths, snack on pain au chocolat by the Loire, and enjoy some peaceful gravel roads through the forest.

The highlight? Arriving at the magnificent Château de Chambord—a true fairytale castle hidden deep in nature. I end the day at a cozy campsite with pizza, a cold Peroni, and tiramisu under the stars. Not everything went as planned, but that’s part of the adventure.

This is day two of my backpacking adventure from Paris to Lisbon. I started the day early and rode up to Sagraur. The views over the rooftop of Paris were magical and I just stood there for a moment, letting it all sink in. This journey had truly begun. [Music] I made my way to the Arctic and down the legendary Chams. Paris doesn’t get more iconic than this. [Music] From there I continued across the city, weaving through traffic and history past the EFL Tower, majestic and proud in the morning light. [Music] I stopped for a coffee near the tower just to enjoy the moment. And of course, I had to visit cafe to check out some cool gear, fuel my inner bike nerd, and buy one jersey. [Music] By the afternoon, it was time to leave the city behind. I rolled my bike onto a train heading south to Orlansi. Heat. Heat. N. [Music] Heat. Heat. N. [Music] [Music] From there the ride followed the beautiful Laurier River cycling along a Euro tree Surrounded by vineyards, old stone houses and postcard perfect views. I found the perfect riverside spot for a break. A pan of chocolate in one hand, the lorry flowing gently beside me. This is why I write [Music] [Music] Later I ventured into the woods where a perfect gravel path led me to the magnificent Chatau de Comport. A true fairy tale castle rising out of the forest. [Music] Kamut found this amazing road for me. [Music] But luckily the next one had the space. I set up, grabbed a takeaway pizza, cracked open a cold peroni, and finished the day with a tiramisu. Not every day goes to plan, but this one ended just right. And this was only day two. [Music]
