My small town in Latvia shows me that towns have mysteries, but they also have the good side of the story. Horror isn’t horror without contrast. In every good horror, there is a great setup, a state of being that the characters and perhaps you, the reader, would love to remain the status quo. Bikes and joy, heady summers, and swimming in the river. But the good times can only ever last so long.
