As a slight change from our Riding East series, we wanted to share a glimpse into an average day on the bikes.

During these 24 hours, we left the mountains in Northern Montenegro and made our way towards the coastline. Packing up camp, finding food, exploring bear territory and navigating Montenegro’s tunnels…

We hope you enjoy the film. It’s the first of its kind that we’ve shared, and we really enjoyed putting it together. If you’d like to see more films like this, just let us know 🙂

What? [Music] Morning. Morning. It was a bank holiday yesterday. So all we found today and today all we’ve been eating is boric. Yeah. So our mission today is to try and find something a little bit fresher. Yeah. We’re craving cuz it’s really warm as well. I was sort of craving something fresh and juicy. And we’re going to take you along for the day and show you exactly what we see as we cross from the mountains down towards the coastline in Montenegro. [Music] I have the tent bone dry. Thank you, friendly man. Thank you, lovely Patrick Grass. [Music] We haven’t been in Montenegro for very long, but uh the landscapes which are just absolutely breathtaking. Stunning. And it changes as well really quickly. Like you’ll be in sort of one rugged snowy landscape and you turn a corner and then there’s a cover green trees. It does mean it’s like incredibly hilly. We had no idea how mountainous it was. It’s just around every corner. Um there’s just these kind of incredible landscapes which just going to stop you stop you in your tracks. Yeah. That mean that we go very slow. [Music] You found the shop. Found a shop. I’m really happy. Ciao. We found the last place that was open. Yeah. Little area. Well, actually, it doesn’t even come with a map and then planned this little tea little sort of chopstick. Oh, wow. So, we have uh some fruit and vegetables. We have some eggs and we have [Music] that. God, I thought my chest is going to break. [Applause] There’s quite a lot of snakes. There are. And it keeps stepping off into the sides and then kind of seeing a snake. So, I think we should be cautious. Yeah, it’s quite worrying. [Music] [Music] [Music] I’ve been on this off-road section for what seems like forever. Uh, it’s really beautiful. Kind of feels like bear country. Yeah, it does. It’s worrying me a little bit. Um, we haven’t seen any bears. Can you hear it? Can you hear it? It’s a I can hear it. It’s a car. [Music] Back back on top. I think we should keep him. I’m really not too keen on going through long tunnels. No. Um, we’ll see how long it is because there’s no uh pavement or anything. Yeah. So on this trip um And particularly since we’ve entered the Balkans, we’ve been asking lots of people for um places to camp or if they know anywhere just cuz local knowledge is always going to be better than our knowledge as we pass through. And so many people just offer us places to camp in their gardens. We’ve been asked to like welcome to stay in people’s sheds. And it’s um it’s really really touching. It’s it kind of this whole trip has given us such a different perspective on on people and we just encountered so much kindness. It’s amazing. So, we asked for some water in this little bar um in this really remote area. There’s nothing really around. The first kind of another first food place we come to for quite a long time. And uh yeah, she gave us some water and she said about camping around the back which is really really nice. Managed to find some food too in a shop. So, we’ve got some eggs to replenish our protein because we have just been eating boric like two and a half days since the public holiday. So, we’ve got some eggs for some protein, some vegetables, and a little soup mix to make a little sauce. Um, yeah. Watch the sun go down. Beautiful. You know, I think um we do actually need to be a little cautious with snakes. Yeah. Uh how many did you run over today? One. And you run over one as well? Two. I ran over two. Last one. So, how did you find our day cycling? Yeah, I found it quite tough. I found the it’s a lot of I felt like just a day uphill. Um, and then off road was really slow going and I was scared that there were bears there and a lot of snakes. There were loads of snakes. But um I’m continually blown away by these landscapes. It’s incredible. Like it’s so beautiful. I feel like today was like not as dramatic as some other days, but it’s still just It’s really beautiful, though. Like around every corner. It’s so hilly. Like so mountainous. And it’s also um This is good to eat. Very How old How many days old is that? I’ve just been in there overnight. It’s not been over there. Yeah. Yeah. Two days. Two days in the woods. One night. I mean, they taste horrible anyway. I don’t think it’s like there’s no I think it’s just dried potato. Yeah. Oh, should I try it? I’ve never tried it. I’m going to be honest. It doesn’t look the most appetizing thing, but I’m so excited to eat it. Yeah. I’m ready for some protein. I’m going to put a little bit of stock in it and that will elevate it. Yeah. Very tasty. um with like super super pimped up like really seasoned scrambled eggs. It’s good. It doesn’t sound like too bad. Uh no cooked good. I can feel the protein coursing back into my veins. Good. Good. Oh, it’s hard. That could be [Music] Do you know what I’m amazed at? What you amazed at? How long this gas has lasted? We felt like a week ago it was going to die. Yeah. Still yet to battle the petrol stove. Scrambling eggs on it. Yeah. Like a week ago we were like, “No, this is it. It’s going to die.

  1. As always, beautiful pictures, great atmosphere. I like this format, it's like riding with you. Lovely companions for my Sunday morning, thank you.

  2. Sleeping in lovely fields of flowers 😊. Your trip is an evidence that the human heart is still alive and well.
I'm always happy for you when you find good food. And ice cream too!!
As hot as it's been here this summer it's surprising to see you in layers and warm jackets, and seeing your breath in the chill air. The mountains are beautiful but I can only imagine how incredibly refreshing it is when you get to a warmer place and can spend time playing in a lake or sea surf.
Take care and safe travels. 🥰🌿♥️🌿🤗
