0 1 2 3 Let’s get started. [Music] Mhm. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Welcome back to my channel. Today is the 25th of July and the opening of the new cycle way on Oxford Street. Finally, this was a media opening with the Lord Mayor of Sydney and will be followed up with the official launch in August. It was our coldest winter’s day this year and was around 5° so I needed to rug up. It was nice to see so many cyclists joining the fun here. The Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore, is talking about the new cycleway connection. Due to the number of media and the wind, I couldn’t use my sound. Clover Moore is the longest serving Lord Mayor of Sydney and has continuously been elected since March 1988. Clover and her team have been instrumental with Sydney’s development of a cycling network. Sydney is a fantastic place to get around by cycling. I think unfortunately [Music] Let’s check out this new cycle way. Here we are starting on Liverpool Street. This was a missing section that connects onto the current cycle way that leads down to Darling Harbor. We will cycle past Hyde Park and then cross over to the start of Oxford Street all the way up to Taylor Square. [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. Yeah nice video mate! So getting this one finished all the way further down more of Oxford St is a big deal, I would only rate Parramatta Road as more important for the cycleway network for now. This looks a little bit narrower in parts than I had hoped based on your footage. Credit where due though, they had to fight REAL hard to get this one done.
Great, but it took way too long to build. so much so, that I actually see the cycleway as an annoyance now – rather than valuable infrastructure. Because of the long construction.
When did people in Australia start pronouncing mayor like that? You've been in America too long!
Why did it take so long? Seen bigger projects done faster.
Not in favour at all. Expensive vandalism of the road system. Next to no one will use it of course.

I can see how bus stops get into conflict with bike lanes. Going down oxford street is safer riding on the road since keeping up with traffic is not an issue. Going the other way makes sense on a bike lane
