I mean, don’t get me wrong, Paris is a lot of fun, but every people in France will tell you that Paris is not France. And you can take amazing day trips from Paris, like Normandy, which is, you know, 3 to four hours away from Paris. But a destination that is often overlooked in France is Bordeaux right here. It has none of the crowds. It is full of history and absolutely amazing food. So, in this video, I’m going to take Colleen and Lizzy, my daughter, visiting from the US, and we’re going to tell you the 10 reasons why Bordeaux is an amazing dayrip destination from Paris. On So, the first reason why Bordeaux is an amazing day destination from Paris, this is just two hours from here. I mean, we left two hours ago from Montas and here we are in the heart of Bordeaux. I mean, you barely have the time to take a nap and you’re already there. And it’s not expensive if you book your train tickets in advance. For regular secondass tickets, you can get them as low as €20 each way or 50 each way in first class. Now, one thing to know is that the Wego is the cheap train line and it doesn’t have a cafe on board, but the Enui has a cafe. with refreshments on board. Now, from there, you can take the local tram into the city or take a taxi to your first stop. The second reason that you got to visit Bordeaux is this unique and fabulous building right here, the Cite Duva, which is the largest wine museum in the world. It is interactive. It is fun. It’s got so much stuff to do in there. Let’s go check it out. Welcome to the Site Duvant Bordeaux Temple to all things wine. We’re going to taste some wine. It’s not a museum. Well, not quite. It’s more like a tasting playground with history on tap. I know already you like it. You’ll swirl through centuries of wine culture, sail virtual trade tours, and yes, even end with a glass and a killer view. I got a rosé from Kot Province. It’s hard to go wrong. Even if you’re not a wine nerd, it’s worth the pour. Another reason to visit Bordeaux is for their amazing food. And tonight we are at Shay Dupont which is an institution here and they have the classic stuff from this area. Real traditional French brazerie style food. There’s a bunch of great things. We’re going to try some ve. We’re going to try some duck and we’re going to try some vuagra. Oo mi. Look at this. Ooh, nice. That’s a nice country bread. It is. These are beef croetts. Is that finger food? It’s totally it is what you make it is. Oh yeah, those Oh, I love croettas like coming from Miami with the Cuban influence, but those are Spanish and I’m used to croetas demon, but this is a beef croette. They have uh fish croettes and different things, but I’m going to try that one. It’s with potato. Let me see. Potato and beef. It’s like super crispy and then it’s like whipped mashed potato with beef inside and like a balsamic uh gl uh you know like the little drizzle. So I put a little bit of that on there and it is like it’s falling apart in my hand. But it’s so yummy. A little bit of fagon. Oh, look at that. Oh, and there’s a thing there. That’s a huge thing. So look at that. That’s going directly into my mouth. And this is fuagra country. [Music] I had to get the duck comfi because this is duck country and the kfi is that they cooked it forever nice and slow. So it should be Oh yeah, it’s falling apart. Look at that. Just Yeah. That so tender. That is making my mouth water. Hands off. It’s mine. All right. Like that’s mine. It’s the spot. I’m going to be too busy chewing. And I got the uh ve looks like roasted ve in a sauce. Exactly what I wanted. Served with a little bit of mashed potato. It It looks and feels like homemade mashed potatoes. Like you’re a meat and potatoes guy. Oh yeah. Are you as happy as I am? This is exactly how I wanted to wrap this day. Nice meal like this. This is delicious. Another reason why Bordeaux is amazing is markets like this one, Mari Capusa, which has amazing local food. You’re going to find seafood. You’re going to find meat. You’re going to find anything you want for your picnic or bring back with you to Paris. The best wagra duck comfi all vacuum sealed. An absolutely amazing experience. You can even eat on site. Oysters and all kinds of goodies. Let me take you inside. Come with me, ladies. Go ahead. Oh, the people in this part of the country know how to do guagra. Yeah, we’re in duck country here. Yeah, we are the menu all the you see this one on the menu all the time also. That’s the new and that’s what the fish looks like. This one. Yeah. You have those shrimps. And then you have those one. And then you have this one. That is a cooked version of that. Oh, this is the mirado or the mirror of water. And this is a granite base that covers 37,000 square ft with just 2 cm of water. And every 15 minutes, all these little fountain spots spray up mist or sometimes even big splashes of water. And this place is super fun and refreshing. Yeah, I can’t wait to put my feet in it. Let’s go. Come on. Oh, wow. It feels so Actually, it’s not too cold, but it feels good, man. This is a Yeah, this is a hot summer day. It’s like uh 95° and it’s been like in the hundreds and stuff. There’s no way this two centimeters of water could be cold. Yeah. Not a chance. This is so much fun. You know, when you come here in a summer on a steel day, it just reflects uh this building that is uh right behind us uh right there. Uh and it’s really magnificent and it’s just a great centerpiece to come and have fun. Very unique. And as you can tell, I mean, this is a sunny day. We’re like 11:00 in the morning. I mean, it’s I I I would just It’s not too crowded. No, it’s not too crowded, but if if you’re worried about crowds, it’s lit up at night, too, right? But it’s like, you know, compared to if we were in Paris here, I mean, there’d be 3,000 people. No question. Right. So, it’s really great. Bordeaux is that right in the north in a suburb of Bordeaux, you can visit a chateau like this one at Chateau Sahon. And we’re going to go here and walk through the vines. We’re going to see the animals. We’re going to go through the barrels and all of the wine making process. And we’re going to do a wine pairing together with chocolate. So, come on. Oh, you made mommy leave the baby. [Music] I want the mommy and the baby to snuggle again. What is this? I suspect we’re going to see the barrels. Oh, darling. Oh, wow. I like those, too. All right, close the door. We’ll stay here. Oh, it’s nice and cool here. Oh, wow. I’m in the middle of all the barrels. This is really cool. And there is wine in this. Uh, [Music] oh, empty. Yeah. Okay. Empty. Okay. I think there’s one here. That’s cool. I can see something. Hear the difference. [Laughter] And right there. There’s a No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I got in big trouble here. They are providing us with this tasting with wine and chocolates. And we’re taking our first nose of our first try of Colber Can. Definitely the red fruits. Yeah. And so which chocolate do you want to try with that? Well, she said to start with the little leaf. The leaf. Let me see it. I wanted to eat it right away. Yeah. It goes great together. She also said this isn’t a wine to let it linger in your mouth. So, let me take a quick sip. Yeah. little bit oy and I don’t prefer the oy ones typically. Yeah, it’s nice. It’s pretty easy to drink, but it does have a lot of complexity to it. M completely different color. Yes, it is more. It’s a more brown than red. [Music] Oh, far more um pleasant for me. And it goes with this one, right? So, you try it with this one. It’s surprisingly good together. It’s the walnut. I think no. And no, the chocolate and wine. I mean, it’s not something that I would have together. I mean, I would have chocolate with champagne for some reason, but not with red wine. Another reason why you should go to Bordeaux is for this beautiful pastry called a canolay. It’s a specialty from here and they why you actually can find it pretty much everywhere, but the best one are made right here in Bordeaux. Let me take you inside and show you. This is it. Yeah, these things, little teeny babies. Boy, look at this. Oh, wow. And I’m seeing some here are lighter and some are darker. And the difference between them, there’s no difference in the batter or the cooking method or anything. It’s just that the lighter ones are less caramelized and the darker ones are a little bit crispier and just a little bit. So, I’m going to order some darker ones cuz I want them a little crispy. Yeah, me too. I’m going to try this little puppy right here. Okay. Show it to me. In the sun. Yeah, in the sun. That would be great. Yeah. Oh, wow. Okay, got it. Yeah. Oh, it’s a It’s not breaking easy like a croissant. It’s a lot thicker, but again, it is crep batter. There you go. You can see how light it is inside. It’s like fluffy inside, but really thick on the outside. M. You can definitely taste the rum. It’s crispy. I like cuz I got the darker one. It’s crispy on the outside. It’s crispy. It’s chewy. It’s light and fluffy. It’s kind of an enigma in a pastry. It’s very nice. Look at this bad boy. Oh. All right, let me take a bite. Moment of truth. Oh, it’s interesting. You know, it’s the last time I had the same thing. It’s missing something. And it’s missing Nutella. I want to dip this in Nutella or have a piece of chocolate with it. But I mean, it’s fine just like that. It’s probably better for me. Another great reason to visit Bordeaux is Rue St. Katherine right here behind me, which is the longest pedestrian street in all of Europe. And it is full with amazing shops and little things to check out. Come on. [Music] And this is the end of Ran Katrina, 1.2 2 km away, 3/4 of a mile, the longest pedestrian street in Europe. It’s pretty amazing, right? Another great reason to visit Bordeaux is the waterfront area where you can ride bikes, go walking along, but all along the border of the boardwalk is this fabulous garden with little benches, flowers, even growing vegetables, tomatoes, corn, all kinds of stuff growing right here. It’s a super peaceful place to sit down and relax and maybe recharge your phone. Now, another reason why Bordeaux is an amazing destination, it’s for the duck. We are in duck country here. So, fuagra mag canal um duck comfi. When you’re having a migrate canal or duck confi in, uh in Paris, it’s coming from here. So, we found a restaurant called Copankum Canal that does well everything duck. Even their cocktails, even their drinks. I mean, everything that they have on the menu is duck related. And I can’t wait to try it. Let’s go. Okay. So, a little bit of that. And you need to take a little bit of that. You need to try it without before you try it with. Yeah. All right. This is The flavor of vanilla hitting you with frog eye is next level. Yeah. I never thought to put the two together. No, it’s like lemon tuna fish. It goes great together. Come on. Who Who knew? No, this is amazing. So, tonight I got my gut canal. That’s the breast of the duck, right? That’s the breast. And I got it rare because for me this is how you eat it. But I understand some people like it a little bit more well done. This region is known for their duck, so I’m expecting it should be good. This is amazing with French fries dipped in a little sauce. I got the slowcooked confid which is um this one is a leg and thigh. It’s my preferred. I like the darker meat anyway. But I got this one with palenta. So it’s a creamy palenta. Oh, that’s like a crispy duck skin with palenta. Oh. Oh, that looks so yummy. And it smells of I wish you could smell it on video. Yeah, it’s hitting the spot. I’m in heaven. Yeah, I refuse to share. Refuse. All right, bonit. If you got value from this video, please like and subscribe. And next, I would watch this video on 20-day trips to take from Paris. [Music]

I like the change of sartorial Colleen.
Finally! Thank you both so much! ❤
Nearly all restaurants in Bordeaux serve delicious oysters. I always took them as a starter. Also, Arcachon is very close; it has plenty of very good restaurants.
Love your content guys !
But this video is also a part of the reason why rent is so expensive for french peoples in Bordeaux 😉
🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼💖💖💖💖😍😍😍😍🇫🇷🇫🇷
8:32 Antoine, ne confondez pas les dindons et les canards 😂😂 mais vous imitez le dindon a merveille 😊
You say that Bordeaux is the best day trip from Paris because you don't know Strasbourg !
Bordeaux is one of my favorite cities in France ~ it's a mini-Paris with gorgeous architecture, superb restaurants and wine. Loved the video!
Bordeaux looks beautiful! Need to get over there from Strasbourg 😊
Excellent video! Bordeaux and Lyon are my favorite "day-trips" from Paris…even though they both deserve at least two or three days. What always amazes me the most is how QUIET they are after leaving the noise of Paris. BTW, dark chocolate and red wine are an excellent combination. DARK chocolate. We've had it for dessert for years now.
I’m off to Paris in the morning 😀
The food looks great.
Holy Gwackamolie Mr & Mrs Frenchie & Daughter. What an amazing and fun video this was. The food portion was my favorite even though I enjoyed the whole video as well. Everything I see one of your videos I get sooo Hungry and thirsty for French Food because of your great narration and Cinematography. GREAT JOB KEEP MAKING MORE🎉
Bordeaux is just stunningly beautiful! Safe, not crowded. We spent 4 days there several years ago and loved it. We booked a couple of inexpensive small group day tours to do wine tasting. It’s a little tricky to navigate this on your own. Love your videos – especially when you go outside the Paris.
Looks like you had a fabulous day! Great video. Thanks for sharing the adventure with us❣️🍷🤩🍽️🍾🦆
I am just finishing up a month and a half long tour of France. I found Bordeaux to be very beautiful but sort of a bit too quiet and empty. I get why the French call it the sleeping beauty. I don’t regret going there especially because of the wine museum.
Very timely video for me. No day trip for me, though. Later this year I will be spending 6 weeks in Bordeaux. I made notes about a few of the places you featured … eating places.
it's kinda weird that they both pronounce Bordeaux as BOR-doh instead of bor-DOH 🤯 also happens with other words like 1:22 café being KA-fay (instead of ka-FAY) and 1:36 cité being SEE-tay 😬
Bien, merci pour l'information
I think Bordeaux has absolutely the BEST web site of any city I've ever seen. The amount of information is absolutely amazing all up to date. Pottery classes, wine tasting, after work get togethers, riverside concerts it's all there !!
Please STOP posting these videos. You're costing me a LOT of money.
Heading to Paris next spring. Seven days in Paris, seven days in Bordeaux, and then back to Paris for another 14 days. And yes – I have noted all of your favorite places on my bucket list.
Im going to the poor house in style!
Foie-gras? Please make a video on how that stuff is produced. Show us how they force feed the animals in the most horrible way.
my mirror neurons were firing hard – i could taste that crispy duck confit on polenta
Salade Landaise is my favourite dish from the Bordeaux region. Huitres fraiches from the vendors along the river walk are another great memory (I scored a free dozen after having a long conversation with one vendor in my Francais comme un enfant de six ans – it pays to try! He wanted to go home anyway). Duck in Aquitaine is king. For wine, St. Emilion is beautiful and just a quick train ride from Bordeaux. It's a 400 M walk from the station but not really that far. Well worth an overnight. Much more fun than Pauillac which is a bit bleak.
I spent for days in Bordeaux last year. Loved every bit of it. Especially the wine!
Watching this at 2am and I am craving some of that duck. Yummy!
J’adore tes vidéos. Je voudrais déménager à Paris mais d’abord je dois terminer l’université. Je besoin partir les États-Unis. Jusqu’à la j’apprends le français.
I spent a weekend in Bordeaux and it was crazy crowded due to the Rugby World Cup! 😅 it was such fun and the history was amazing
I bumped into my first cannele today in Sarlat-la-Caneda. I LOVED it. It gave me goosebumps!
Frenchies, I spent today in Bordeaux and love it ! Perfect timing! Had a Canele today and walked down Rue Saint Catherine!
Restaurant l'entrecôte and Bassins des Lumières you should visit next time, if you like foie gras and canard, Dordogne is a very good place for you and not so far away from Bordeaux.
Great video. When I visited Bordeaux on a tour of France, it reminded me of old Montréal. It may be because the buildings in both places are of similar vintages. Or it's just a happy coincidence.
Vous êtes allé à la Toque Cuivrée <3 Merci de présenter le vrai Bordeaux, vous êtes adoptés !
Tender duck cut with a steak knife WTF come to st medard en jalles next time its a nice change
Actually Piotrkowska street in Łódź, Poland is the longest pedestrian street in Europe 😉 Enjoyed the video and look forward to hopefully visiting Bordeaux someday
Is there a website to purchase the tickets for the museum? I cannot find one that seems reliable.
I spent a few days in Bordeaux recently….and I want to go back to thiis gemm!
I don't see that you need to spend 4-5 hours on a train (round trip) just to eat some croquettes or other food (duck and polenta) you can easily obtain in 20 or 30 establishments in Paris. We should take the trip to Bordeaux just to eat this stuff? I can see going for the wine, but how much wine can you experience in one short day when you're also going for the duck and polenta and croquettes? You left out the interesting former German submarine pen and their Bassins des Lumieres show. In any case, Bordeaux is NOT a day-trip town!
Im coming to chez dupont after watching this vdo 😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉 thank you.
C’est quoi cette voix IA qui traduit la vidéo.
On veut entendre la vrai voix !!
Quelle horreur.
J’ai la nostalgie des anciennes vidéos.🥲
Thanks for Paris all infos. Regarding Metro stations in Paris, do they have escalators or elevators on Chatelet Les Halles station and Nation station? Thanks
I would love a video that explains and goes over the vat tax on detail.
How fun to see you after having met you! After watching this, I can’t wait to visit Bordeaux!
Le foi gras restera toujours une tuerie, n’est-ce pas ?! 😀😉🇫🇷
How many places cater for single travellers in France..hotels restaurants etc..many of us, especially older women are travelling alone these days and don’t want to be refused service.
Paris 🗼🗼💖💖💖💖👍💙👍💙👍👍👍👍
I really can’t express how grateful I am for you and your channel. My wife and I have a severely disabled daughter (28 years old now) I’m not complaining, but our circumstances don’t allow us to travel beyond a few hours from home in New Jersey.
However, because of your channel I get to travel to France every Saturday and feel like I’m there! You’re both so fun and lovely. So thank you so much for your efforts! ❤️❤️ merci beaucoup!
