Today’s day two of biking across Austria. I’m going to go get some Austrian breakfast. Hopefully coffee, too. Okay, that was a bust. They don’t open till 2:00. So, I should eat some sugar in the meantime. Not my ideal start to the morning, but then found a cute little stand along the way that was set up pretty much for cyclist. Great view of the river. Sparkling apple juice. Classic German sausage, bread, and mustard. Accidentally ate a bunch of horseradishes thinking it was just a little bit of sauerkraut. Man, it’s my brain feels better. Food. Went flying down a hill at some point and luckily turned around and looked behind me to see a beautiful castle. got to milk and had sausage and bread. Number two, I made a little mistake at this point because I told myself I was gonna get food when I was there. I don’t know what gets into me. Like, these are big mistakes. It’s like running out of gasoline on the highway. I was like, “Uh-oh, I don’t have enough food on my bike to probably make it to where I need to go today, all 47 miles.” Yeah. I have to ration my calories. I got like I want to say like 400 calories of food with me and I think all the grocery stores are going to be closed. 30 minutes away there was a gas station that was still open for another 45 minutes of course. So I booked it over there. Do I feel lucky that I was able to buy some food? Probably my last opportunity to get food tonight. Tried to take a shortcut. Wasn’t a shortcut. Climbing up a big hill. This is the hill actually. Quiet. Walking up a big hill. This is the field. I hope this makes sense. This seems to be my MMO on bike packing trips that I kind of like toot around earlier in the day and then need to do a little later at night at night because of it. It puts a little pressure on things because of food and, you know, services not being available. Potentially makes solving for little problems a little bit more scary, especially when you’re in a different country. 2 miles away. This is so beautiful and special. Un stinking real, y’all. Pulled into grind the end of the night. Had day two in the books. 47 miles. Knee felt good. Messed up the fuel intake per us. Luckily in Germany and Austria, they have beer and vending machines. I got a couple beers. Spilled a beer in the tent two nights in a row. It just gets prettier the further I went along the Danube River.
