[Applause] for everyone. It’s a dream to race to France. [Music] I’m really excited. I’m really happy to be here and we are really looking forward for this tour France. How are you? Good. Fine. Yes. Let’s speak about the tour to France of last year. Drama on stage five of the tour to France. Damy Volering has crashed and the team of Canyon ShraMM are taking full advantage. Do you feel the taste of the revenge? Um yeah, I mean that’s racing. Uh sometimes you lose, sometimes you win. Up. She’s done it. Cashma wins this tour to France famic swift. That defeat really fueled my hunger for cycling I think and my passion for cycling was after that so clear. I knew that I just had to pace myself and we never wish anyone any sort of bad luck but it happens to everyone. I’m very grateful for that. I’m just very focused on uh what’s ahead. So I’m very much looking forward for new chances. I repeat, we do not pull after a crash of somebody. We do not disappointed not to win. I was super happy to win. So those were two different worlds that could not just like meet and discuss. It was a great great year last year. Great celebrations that we all went through. But every year it’s getting harder. So we take day by day and we try to salvage every single second until the end cuz you know sometimes you win by only 4 seconds. [Music] Stage 1’s profile seems suited to the punchers in the pack, especially with the long climb to the finish. A short but short day with just two hours of racing expected. After the Dutch affair last year, it was a bretting honipar for the fourth to def France fam of egg swift. The GC favorites aiming to make an opening statement of intent. [Music] [Applause] Four rider strong pelaton with 26 nationalities in total. One thing in common, tension and nerves even before the race started in earnest. A crash already in the neutralized section. Just as we talk about it, a number of riders have hit the deck already. Marion Roose is ready, but the riders are not back yet. Delays like that just feel forever. Here’s kilometer zero. And we’re actually going to stop at kilometer zero to get everybody back in the pelaton after the crash. Back. And now we get going. We’ll roll for a little while until Marian Roose feels that the road is open enough and ready. [Music] And now we get the first attacks of the day as the riders decide who’s going to get into this breakaway as quickly as possible. More attacks coming now as riders decide to go and get themselves into this breakaway if at all possible. Mod Rinbeck went to lend a hand to the original Escape Lao Tomazi, but with 56 km to go, the Dutch rider elected to go it alone. M Reinbeck has decided to try and break away as she makes her way towards his first climb at Botagala. She obviously feels like Tamasi is not going any quicker than she can go on her own. Two points for the 22-year-old, the first virtual queen of the mountains. But the pelaton soon hit the accelerator. End of the break. The pelon is packed together and the group was whole again. The pace quite high on narrow country lanes. Danger a foot. Oh, there is a crash. Lyanna Liippard crashed there. Oh, she’s crashed. She can’t even get off the bike. The team leader potentially of Maui start. She’s got to get her feet out of the pedal. She doesn’t know what to do. The first intermediate sprint in Pumlech was not just a first look at the finish, but more importantly, the first points classification action. European champion Lorena Vivas holding off Francie K to bag a maximum 25 points on offer. Yet 5 minutes back with Moy Star’s Jiro runner up Marlene Rousa rather than Lipet in trouble. One lap to go and the Kardal offered the last Queen of the Mountain points. GC favorites near the front, but it was Elise Shabi who kicked on for three points and with them the polka dot jersey. Contrasted emotions though to compatriate and a GC contender and Marlon Roya has abandoned the tour to France fan. The race fast running out of road. Visa, Lisa Bike, Canyon Scram, and FTJ Suz were jostling for position, all preparing to launch, following Ferrron Prevo primed to serve Mariana Voss. But with a host of surrounding stars, the 33-year-old refused a straightforward lead out and instead lit up the finale. Vander starts an attack. Vanderbre starts the move now to try and here goes an attack of the team with Pauline for Provo. Pauline for Provo now going for the yellow jersey. Vanderbre trying to hunt her down and Pauling for Promo is driving away. 500 m to go for the French woman who has come here to get experience and is now looking for the yellow jersey of the tour to France. Pauline from Bravo is going to give Visma Lisa Bike an absolutely incredible start to this tour to France. She turns the corner. They’re hunting her down. Is she going to get to the line in time? Pull in from Bravo. She’s almost there. Kim Laort is coming back at her very, very quick. Here comes Mariana Voss. Pulling from Bravo turns around. Mariana Voss is on her wheel. Framp Bravo is going to be caught right on the line. Mariana Voss takes the first place. Voss takes yellow. Second Kim Laord. Third place for Visma Lisa Bike. What a finish to stage one. [Music] I can’t believe this. Oh, I’m so proud of you. You won almost everything in your career. How special is this one? really special. Uh it’s the tour to France. It’s the first day. Uh yeah, you can’t you can’t really describe what it uh what it means. And uh yeah, as a bon bonus to take take the yellow jersey. I couldn’t even think about that up front. So um yeah, I’m really thankful for the team and uh yeah, especially to Pauline here on the on the final climb. We’re here uh as a team and we just uh yeah to start off like this that’s amazing a third tour stage win but V’s first in three years will be following and weas have won as many splitting Vizma teammates for her best tour results sixth yellow jersey but she hadn’t dawned the jersey since a debut 2022 tour. Nuadini and Ferin ended the last tour 4 seconds apart. Just now it’s just the three. Two time and reigning points champion Voss certainly shines in green, but she’ll hand the jersey off to Lot on stage two. Shabby making history as the first Swiss to wear the polka dot jersey after failing to finish the 2024 edition. The 34year-old attacking this one from the off. [Music] Julie Bego talked of her excitement at discovering her first tour of France. What better way than to land herself in the best youngster in the pack. It’s off to Bre for part two of the Breton Odyssey. Can Vos and Vizma hold on to yellow on another day for the punchers?

  1. Turned this on, bet my son that if there are no crashes he gets an extra 2 hours screen time today. They didn’t make it out of the neutralized section??? 😂😂
Sorry, not sorry but hate it for the ladies that this is such a prolific thing.

  2. There are always tons of crashes in the first week of the Tour de France Hommes. Maybe if women's cycling was taken more seriously and there were more grand tours (i.e., opportunities for riding in a big bunch in grand tours) it wouldn't be such a talking point in these comments sections 🤷🏻‍♀️

  3. Thank you TdF, great highlights. I won’t go near TNT as they are robbing us in Éire and the UK. 400% increase. Great racing.
