Another what do I have? But with a story.

Hey guys! Long time listener, first time caller.

I bought this Eddy Merckx 16 years ago for €35 from the side of the road whilst on holiday in France and have always wondered about what model/era it could be? I know Falcon made some of the pre 1980 frames but I’m pretty clueless otherwise.

Recently treated it to a fresh saddle, bar tape and some cheap wheels after giving me hundreds of miles of joy and would love to work out its origins!

I have attached some photos of any details I think may help, the previous owner gave it a fetching blue brushed paint job but did mask off the original decals to an extent, I figure they may be some clue?
