I came across a Colnago frame that has me scratching my head. It’s labeled “Colnago Monotitan”, and the seller claims it’s titanium with dream lux decor but some of the features don’t match any Monotitan or Dream model I’ve seen before.
Here’s what I’ve noticed:
-The front derailleur mount is welded, not riveted like most Colnago titanium frames.
-It has downtube shifter bosses, which is odd since most Colnago Dream frames had STI cable stops near the headtube.
I don’t know enough about welding quality or type to judge whether it looks like typical titanium welds or not, so I can’t say much based on that.
Has anyone ever seen a legit Colnago frame with these features? Could this be a rebadged titanium frame with Colnago decals, or maybe a rare Ti prototype?
Appreciate any insight, especially from vintage Colnago nerds or titanium collectors.
