Hey, this is Bombberg, Germany. It’s a small medieval city with 60 breweries in the region. I flew over from the US with my overbuilt bike to hit the cobblestone streets and check out the breweries. First stop, Schlankala, famous for its Ral beer, a smoked beer that tastes like a campfire in a glass. Then is past the iconic Bombberg Bridge, which is a courthouse along the river where a cyclist almost eats it to Marsbrow. My favorite brewery in Palberg. We had the ooh, the unfiltered beer. And the helis as well. And the schnitle is so stinking good. It’s battered in the spent grains from the brewing process. It comes with this oil onion gravy. Out into the frankconian countryside with a couple of friends for two more breweries. We cross the river on this little ferry. Order two steines at the first brewery. Off to the second where we get a stein and a schnit. A schnit is a half a beer, but they gave us more like four fifths of a beer. And we ended back in town at Hoffbrow for one last beer we probably didn’t need. Want to see the full ride, food, and fun? Full eat, drink, bike episode is linked below.
