operation since 1747 there are also many places around the world called abdine after this city hello I’m John and welcome to my YouTube channel John’s box and to another edition of the 10 largest cities outside England in the United Kingdom and now we’re on to the next part uh looking at the sixth largest city which is aine with a population of over 20,000 220,000 uh became a city in 1891 but was founded much much earlier in the year 20 sorry in the year 124 so abine is located in the uh far Northeast part of Scotland um it’s about 145 mil from Glasgow Scotland’s largest city that journey by road takes around about 2 hours and 40 and it’s located 127 mi from the capital of Scotland which is Edinburgh that Journey takes 2 and 1 half hours by Road and to London there’s a journey of 9 hours uh the distance there is 536 miles I’m sure that if you’ve done those Journeys from Aline you may have done them quicker but most likely slower then you’ve just uh had a look at all the positives about this amazing city um there are a lot more positives I I I could have uh mentioned um in just a moment we’ll be looking at some fun facts and then the negatives of the city so sit back and relax and watch the next one legendary singer songwriter Annie Lennox was born in no other than abedine on Christmas day but it wasn’t always plain sailing for the future star who famously took a job in a Northeast Fish Factory to pay the bills the musical Legend has been described as one of the most original and unforgettably affecting artists in the modern anals of popular music abdine is one of the luckiest places in the UK perhaps this is the only city where we will encourage you to purchase a lotto ticket there have been over 47 Lottery million is made within the county of abadin Shire and the ab postcode is one of the luckiest postcodes in the UK around 276 prizes of over £50,000 have been snapped up by residents all contributing to lifechanging results [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] e [Music] [Applause] [Music] you’ll definitely not want to bring your bikini here girls abedine is the second rainiest city in Scotland and is known for its wild windy weather and while it’s known as the sunniest City in the north it’s still cold during the winter with temperatures averaging 2° Centigrade everything is gray the look of the city easily gets monotonous the color of the buildings look really similar this extends to the road and Pavements though I’ve never actually seen a pink Road I hasten to add it would be very difficult to describe the look is vibrant some say however that in the Summer sun when the facades are been cleaned the buildings look stunning really According to some many people are just clicky and insula in general even random strangers that you pass on the street could be rude to you for no reason for example if you looked at them in a funny way but why should you many there out in public can be aggressive violent and antisocial fights can break out because eye contact was maintained for slightly too long so Union Street and its connecting streets at night can get pretty wild so keep your eye on the rest of the body so there you have it I hope you’ve enjoyed all that um don’t forget to comment um particularly to welcome uh comments from people from you uh who live in the city who work there who’ve been there many times because the best feed because the best content rather is your feedback so i’ love to hear what you have to say about the city particularly on the negative side because there doesn’t seem to be too much there okay so that’s it for another Edition I’ll be back in some time to come for the seventh part uh we’re going to be going down to Wales to the Southwest part of Wales to the city of Swansea that will be in some time to come for now uh continue watching my channel if you haven’t subscribed I I hope you can do so and I’ll see you again in the next video bye for now bye-bye [Music]

Your sound quality is a bit dodgy. Aberdeen is a beautiful city btw. Using an old black and white picture to illustrate that the city is grey is kinda cheating.
I really enjoyed this video – thanks! Also, a negative, Aberdeen seagulls.
I`ve never found Aberdeen unfriendly. Quite the opposite, indeed. I think it can be culturally limited, however..
.
The clip mentioned of the oldest bridge in Aberdeen "Brig o' Balgownie" but the image was not the correct image of the bridge, but of the more modern Bridge Of Don bridge. The oldest bridge is single span…..you can google images of Brig o' Balgownie https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&sca_esv=d1b5aeb9d701f53b&rls=en&q=bridge+of+balgownie&tbm=isch&source=lnms&prmd=imvnbtz&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi-zPfm5-uEAxWUVEEAHbmvDNMQ0pQJegQIDRAB&biw=1918&bih=1146&dpr=2#imgrc=b_CneW2fkCU0MM
At 3:31 the bridge you show is the "new" Bridge of Don, from 1830, rebuilt IIRC around 1923. The original Brig o' Don lies behind the camera, and is now known as Brig o' Balgownie and has a long (chequered, to say the least) history since Robert the Bruce ordered its construction back around 1320.
A condensed version at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brig_o%27_Balgownie
The island that is shown in the middle of the River Don has a beach where you can sometimes see seals sunbathing.
Nothing is good in Aberdeen just the peace… This city dont is friendly.. grey. Wind ..
Quite interesting, however the rainfall stat is completely wrong, Scotland has 8 cities and Aberdeen has the least rainfall of them all and by a considerably amount.
Born & bred Aberdonian here, the city centre has went downhill over the past 20 odd years, union street a once bustling thriving hot spot is now full of either vape, phone, bookies or empty shops. I agree that folk are are quite rude, go anywhere outside of the city and people are much more friendly.
Hi the part of the video at 8:53 the guys with sticks on the street at night, which street was that on? Thanks.
I’ve done Aberdeen to London by car in 8 hours, driving legally. 😉
So depressing town,
the main street is still under reconstruction, other streets are blocked, this is not what you see every day 😢
Its full of nasty liars
Thanks John, much appreciated. I used to fly up to up Aberdeen on a regular basis for work on the rigs and the occasional week in an office. I really like the architecture of the city but the grey sky and grey buildings for days on end can apparently get people depressed. Some nice pubs as well. Nice to see the old film of the city to see it has remained the same.
I hope you have a prosperous New Year.
