I’m here today on Dale Seat, one of Liverpool’s original seven streets, which dates back to the 1207 charter of King John. A street rich in medieval origins, architectural magnificent, lively local culture, and many hidden surprises. One of them being the biggest mural in Liverpool of Heepatlon athlete Katina Johnson Thompson. Now, it was painted exactly one year ago today as part of a program to drive positive change in local communities. The bottom hurdle there reads, “You’ll never run alone or not here because the building it’s painted on is home to many immigrants.” Now, I think it’s important to mention that magnet hotels are temporary shelters or accommodations used to house people in various stages of the immigration process. We’ll get a crossover. And oh, I’m going to Yeah, nearly been run over again. Too busy looking at me camera. And they do not inherently signify illegal status, which I’m totally against, but rather reflect a need for temporary housing during a period of legal or humanitarian processing. Now, I’m always honest on my videos and I think it’s obvious that mass immigration does worry me, but with reason. You know, economic concerns such as job competition, cultural concerns such as loss of national identity, integration issues, even security worries, you know. Now, just because I have these concerns doesn’t mean they’re rooted in xenophobia or race. They’re based on real challenges. I think some people may have formed the wrong impression of who I am. And you know, I am someone who values honesty, integrity, empathy, respect, and I’m always open to clarifying things and having real conversations to to clear the air. You can see them going in. There’s security on my left, so I’m going to be careful. But it’s in this door here where they’re coming out. And as you can see people, it is all men, isn’t it? It is all fighting age men as they say. And I’ll keep an eye on it to make sure that, you know, it is just men. It’s not just me being Oh, look at that pigeon like right above me head. But yeah, it’s um as you can see, they’re going in this door here. As I say, there is security on the right there. in the car, just sat in the car and the security behind the door as well. But as many of you know, you know, I’ve had many or a couple uh conversations on my channel with people seeking asylum in the UK and rightly so. But let’s be honest, do we do all these men need to be here? See security come out there then? They definitely got the cameras on me. No, no doubt about it. And you know, try and be honest with yourselves. Do you believe every single man here in these hotels are fleeing persecution? You got the bikes there. Bikes here. You got security here. was definitely keeping an eye on me, radioing her in. As you can see, all fighting age men going in. [Music] But I mean, listen, I’m standing back because left behind these railings here is security in a car and I’m definitely being watched. But um you can see the bikes here. You can see them coming back with bags of shopping and which is no problem. People need help. You know, that’s fine. But I looked at some facts and figures today and on January the 1st this year, 38,000 asylum seekers were spread across over 200 hotels in the UK. and I’ll overlay that um information. The average cost per person per night to keep them in these hotels is approximately £145. Now that’s an annual cost of 52 that well nearly £53,000 per that’s per person. This is including you know the hotel, the food, drinks, etc. These bikes obviously £53,000 per person per year. times that by the 38,000 asylum seekers that are here in the UK and that’s an annual sum or cost of over2 billion2 billion pounds per year to keep these young fighting age men in these hotels. Now, if they’re facing persecution, fine. absolutely fine. If not, something has got to be done. Something has got to give because 2 billion pounds of taxpayers money for people that don’t need to be here. Very alarming bikes. As I say, we all got food. They’re all going in. Look. Okay. And it’s a place where we can remember our fallen It’s a controversial question, but seen the young girls there and I’m wondering as any parents that are watching, would they feel safe with their teenage maybe not even teenage daughters um walking around here. Now we take a walk down street because it’s honestly one of my favorite streets in Liverpool. It’s absolutely fantastic. Look at these buildings. And now the municiple over there. Look at that. Stunning. Stunning building, isn’t it? Now, I don’t know what this dates back to, but I am guessing, you know, early 19th century. It’s Look at even the uh the statues up there. All that lead work as well. Over here on the corner of St. Thomas Street is a well, it’s now a double tree. Look at that. That is five star. Look at that. Beautiful, beautiful buildings. Just off Dale Street, we have Yehole in Yewall. widely regarded as Liverpool’s oldest pub, dating back to 1726. And parts of the structure possibly originating from the 17th century. And what’s unique about this old pub, it was built on the site of a Quaker burial ground. And the pub uniquely has its beer cellar on the first floor rather than the underground. Look at that. And they’ve put it on the first ground to avoid disturbing the graves. The changing face of Liverpool. A mate. Oh Jesus. I’m looking I’m looking behind me. Yeah. Yeah. Would a FOI show the age and sex of the people in these hotels? I’m asking because I know in some of these cultures the men keep the women and children indoors while they go out shopping etc. not saying that’s the case but it’s plausible. I agree these figures are unsustainable.
