Despite Tadej Pogacar’s commanding lead heading into Stage 14 of the Tour de France 2025, Team Visma isn’t ready to raise the white flag. Jonas Vingegaard and teammate Simon Yates say they’re still in the fight, with tactical plans and determination to shake up the race in the final week. We hear directly from the riders as they gear up to tackle the mountains and keep the pressure on Pogacar. #TDF

Yeah, sure. I mean, uh, as I said yesterday, I think it was one of my best performances ever. Uh, I think, uh, that performance yesterday was was on the level of, um, of my level in Dolphin and also last year in the tour. So, uh, so yeah, of course, it it was nice for me to be back at the at that high level and, uh, showing that the day before was not my my real level. Is it the idea to continue that the tactics the team has been using all this talk to continue to make it hard on everybody? Yeah, I mean uh of course uh yeah we have our tactics and I’m not going to tell the tactics. Yeah, super ber it’s for the first time in 40 years that the two uh uses this cry. How many recons did you do and what can you tell us about the the climb? Yeah, I did a I did a recon of it in uh end of April and uh to be honest it’s uh officially it’s 12 and a half 12 km but unofficially it’s a 16 km climb. So uh it already starts when you go out of pas uh so it’s uh and basically yeah it’s still 7% there so it’s a very hard time. Okay, thank you Adam. It feels like we’ve been at the tour to France for a month already, but we still a week and a half left. How difficult is it to control a grand tour even with four minutes with a week and a half to go? I think you’ve seen the other stages though there’s quite a lot of big breakaways going with a lot of guys with numbers. So, uh you know when people see that um a lot of teams get motivated that they can also be there and and yeah, then it makes our job harder. Um I think we’ve we were quite lucky the last couple of days that there were other teams uh interested in in controlling but I think now you know we have quite a good lead and we won a few stages and uh you know you know how it goes. Um I think teams will help us less and less and uh that makes our job hard and hard harder and harder in a way is tad kind of forced to win in situations. Like I said before I think it all depends on the situation all depends on what’s happening on the road. Um, you know, today if someone slips in the move and uh we need to chase full gas, then it might end up that we’re only a few minutes down before the last climb and then it’s, you know, it’s kind of like a natural uh process, but um it all depends situation. All depends what happens on the road and uh and we’ll see. New haircut. I had an rest day, so it’s been a few days already. Uh yeah, need to keep it short on the sides cuz I’m getting a bit gray now. Thank you. actually to be honest uh we’ve been trying to do our best and and that’s all you can do when I think when yeah when somebody is uh is better than you in the end you have to take it on the chin and uh and move forward but I think we’re actually still happy we’ve uh you know really trying to take the race on and um still a lot of opportunities to come so we’ll keep trying and you have really taken the race on has there been a slight rethink um after the last couple of days well like I said really I think it’s it’s obviously quite uh it’s quite obvious how how good Saturday is and uh it’s going be very hard to beat. So, um I mean I rethink I think um to be second in the tour to France right now is still uh really good. Um but maybe there’ll be some uh some more chances to try and go over stages and stuff, but it really depends on the situation. So, uh yeah, we’ll see what happens today. I mean, I mean, we all know Ted looks unstoppable. What’s the biggest challenge when you’re leading a GC race like this with a week and a half to go to maintain that lead? I mean, the way he’s going doesn’t seem like any challenges actually. Um, no, I don’t. Yeah, I mean it’s they’re all coming with their own unique uh challenges to, you know, the responsibility of uh leading the race, controlling the the pelon. Um, but yeah, he’s no stranger to that. So, I’m sure he’ll be okay. He seems to kind of enjoy all the media and everything else, too. I mean, some riders it’s a bit difficult to deal with, but he seems to kind of just take it on take it in stride. Yeah. But I guess when you win so much as he does, it’s becomes quite a a normal uh procedure. So, um yeah, I think for him it’s very normal. Mike, uh did we get a preview of what’s to come a couple days ago? We get a preview of that for today. I hope so. I mean, I can never predict if I’m going to be in the breakaway or not, but that’s the goal. Uh I think that’s the same goal as about 30 to 40 other riders in the Pelaton. Um, and it’s going to be challenging to get in the break just because there’s no feature uh for the first 70 some odd kilometers. Um, so hopefully I can get in there, but if I’m in there, yeah, the the objective is to be aggressive. Hopefully we can keep a gap and I can go for the win. Uh, but uh, we’ll see. What’s the aim? I mean, it’s stage win, but are you trying to pick up points as well in the mountains competition? Yeah, I mean, uh, I’m not going to try and give away mountain points. Um, the number one objective is a stage win. Uh but uh I I’m now keeping that KM jersey in the back of my mind. Uh the palm again is Pogachar. Uh if he uh continues to race like he’s racing and uh the breakaway doesn’t get that much of a gap. Um then it’s going to be quite easy for him to win. It’s not just you. He’s a problem for everyone. That’s for sure. Can you give us an idea of where we’re at, what we’re facing today? How brutal is this stage? Yeah, Queen stage 5,000 meters of climbing, 4,000 meters in the last 70k. Uh, so it’s just going to be unrelenting and uh, I think we’re going to see some big gaps in the general classification. Uh, but yeah, I’m climbing well, so hopefully uh, it suits me. What is this we’re looking at? It’s my new little Captain America. Pretty cool, huh? No, I don’t know what to say. Quinn, uh, is it hair back serious day or also with the hair down, it’s serious? I mean, I guess I can’t can’t tell you. I gota keep you guessing. No, it’s serious every day. Uh uh you are going at it all the time and today I guess is a the job to keep Milan in position for that first intermediate sprint and then it’s game on. Yeah, we have to we have to see how the start goes. Of course, it’d be nice to take the points and add a bit to his tally. Uh yeah, the point system here is a little bit skewed this year, so it’s going to be hard to keep Pogy away from the points jersey, but that’s our goal and we’re full committed for it. Have you unlocked any new levels here at the Tour of France? Any anything because you you know mountain door you tried the day after the rest day you tried and you’re just there. Are you figuring anything out? Yeah, I think I’m um I’m at a higher level than before and I’m really close to that stage win. Of course, you know, it’s the tour, so you have to have a really special day and some really good luck to get a stage, but I mean, you saw there was a break in front, but um essentially the day after the rest day, the five strongest guys in the race rode away. And to be there in that group with Vanderpole and Wild and De, it’s really a point today and you attack them. Yeah. I mean, of course, you have to try. You know, I was already second once and I wasn’t going to race to second with uh you don’t take Vanderpole to a 20% wall and hope you have a chance. Give the viewers an idea just how hard is this race? I mean, we’re what, stage 14 now? How nasty has it been? It’s um it’s my third tour now and for sure it’s been the hardest. I think um even though we’ve only had one real mountain stage, I think the collective fatigue is quite real. You see it in the bunch. Uh, as soon as the road goes uphill, there starts to be fireworks out the back and I think we’re all just quite worked and we still have eight days to go. Good luck. Thank you. Guess it’s less of the white jersey and more of just the GC position. Um, which then naturally comes with the white jersey, but we saw the other day or the last two days that Remco is struggling a little bit. So maybe there’ll be an opportunity today, but he’s also a a class rider and I expect him to fully bounce back. So, uh, no, I’m also realistic and, um, yeah, just see what see what happens during the stage and if there’s an opportunity to try and gain time on anyone, then I’ll try and take it. This last one, these weather conditions quite different from the last few days. Do you prefer this kind of weather? No, I actually prefer the heat and I think we saw the other day that some guys struggle a little bit more in the heat and uh normally I’m quite good with the heat. So I yeah, it’s nice to have a little bit of an advantage there, but uh no, I think today is a little bit more equal maybe. Oscar, looking around those rivals for that third place spot. Who do you see as your most serious contender? I mean, you mentioned Remco, but it looks like Leapowitz is really the strong one there. Yeah, I think obviously Ramco is a really strong rider and he’s he’s done this before. He’s got the pedigree alongside Roblitch as well. He’s a little bit further behind, but he’s also a really smart rider and I think uh he can really ride himself into into a good position in the coming weeks. So, I think those two are the the most wary to be of. And then obviously Lovitz as well. He’s I think he’s in a similar position to me. He’s Yeah, he’s never done the tour before. Um That’s good. He’s obviously did a good GC in the Velto last year, but uh no, I think we’re we’re a little bit similar and then we’re kind of up against Rogich and Remco. Thank you. [Music]

  1. The tour is not done, Visas is really going to have to work to keep Jonas in second, third place on the podium looks fairly open

  2. Visma should tell the course planner for 2025 TDF to stick to the classics for next year. Maybe they have a better chance in beating Tadej and UAE. It's just cooking everybody and not the intended target which is Tadej.

  3. I was thinking Stage 16 would decide who the winner is, Vingo beat Tadej there a couple of years ago. But with Tadej's lead, Visma can only hope for a blow-up. I think that is why Tadej followed Jonas at the end. Reduce the chances of that happening and make Visma do more work than his team.

  4. Delusion and the dude is saying he’s at a high level when he’s either getting dropped or giving up time in the TT? Today Pogi just didn’t bother to drop him until Jonas tried to attack. Dude always has an excuse when he loses.

  5. Only way Visma wins is if something catastrophic happens like Tadej is injured in a crash or gets sick Bar that….Second place is all they can hope for.

  6. I have so much respect for Jonas Vingegaard.

You see Remco qutting the Tour when it gets too hard. just wrap your head around this Jonas would have won 5 TdF's if Tadej Pogacar didn't exist.
