It’s uh So, last night I put my tracksuit on to go to sleep with my sleeping bag. I woke up. I was like, “Oh my god, I’m too hot.” So, I threw everything off. I’m like back to back to like how we was intended to be. No clothes. and uh pulled the the oh duvet sleeping bag over the top of me went to sleep. I woke up 6:00 this morning. I thought I’d move to the the uh Arctic. I was frozen. Literally, my feet were nice and warm cuz they were tucked in the sleeping bag, but the rest of me Oh my god. I literally rolled myself like like right around me. All good to sleep. Hello, mate. All good morning. Yeah, Kate, you beat you. Kate, you beat you. Yeah. This morning I met up with my mate Stacy. I’ve known her for like we were trying to work out. It’s been at least 17 years, maybe more. I knew her when I was with my ex-girlfriend. So, that’s how long I’ve known her. And when we first met, we were a bit flirty and whatever else, but we just said to each other like we’ve become the best like best friends, just distant friends. Sorry, the adverbs. Oh no. So yeah, just had a had a coffee and a chat and she looked after my bottle while I went shopping. So yeah, it was nice to have a catch up. Katyas says what? Are you a sub, Katie? You are, aren’t you? Well, I’m going to I’m going down I’m to Shrewsbury and uh I navigated the cycle routes and it takes me on some of the weirdest trails not been on them but yeah this one it’ll take you up to the country park at the top there. It’s going that way. So I don’t know where we’re going. Probably round the hill now. Yeah, you can probably I don’t know about a bike. I’m not sure. I’ve never done that walk. You see? So I wouldn’t know. We don’t live here. You see? So, um, that will probably take you somewhere towards the aqueduct eventually, but the river’s in between, isn’t it? Yeah. Well, I’ll find out in a minute. This is, see, I started in Scotland. Last year, I’ve done Land Lands to John Gros. You started in Scotland. So, this year I’ve gone back to Wick. I’ve done the North, come down through all the locks, uh, come down past Blackpool, Liverpool, Burken Head, and then I’m starting to cut back in now. So, we go Shrewsbury, Worcester, back to London, and then back to the southeast. Where you heading now? Shrewsbury around that area and I’ll get a campsite when I get down that way later on today. So yeah, the new visual work. So I don’t know if you can get past on a bike walking. I know your cars you can’t. No, we’ll see what happens. What I would do? Well, ra down here. I just go back up to the road and turn left. Go up to the Queen’s Hotel. Did you see the Queen’s Did you come? Probably. I’ve just flown down over there. Yeah, go back up here. Just keep going till you come to the next road. There’s like a T junction. Turn left. Go a little bit of a hill. Queen’s Hotel in front of you. If you turn down there, go down the hill first left and then keep left. And what you do, you come up ridge which is the other side of the aqueduct. Okay. Take you up through the Vaughn which takes you across there and then you want to go left. You’re going that way. All right. What I’ll do then I’ll have a look down there. Have a look. I’ll have a look. But now you’ve told me to You know if you can get down there with a bike center, he’s going to go that way. But I can get most places. But now you’ve told me where that is. I know I’ve got something to aim for. What you’re doing is you’re going around there and back that way because then you come to if not I’ll be back in a minute. You know you get a chir and then you dead head towards O Street that way that biscuit. Yeah, that would be me if I follow. Back home all the way to uh to Kent. Kent, you started Scotland all the way to Kent. Yeah. Like I said, last year I done the other way. Yeah. Last year 37 days. Today’s day 32. Just camp for you when you Yeah. But in this hot weather going through here under the trees is quite nice. Yeah. Get a bit of shade. Uh and we’ve got internet. So yeah, we like the it’s the source of the the adventure is the best bit cuz you never know where you’re going to end up. Well, you may not today anyway. There there was a day yesterday I went across I come down I was doing bridalways. Yeah. Uh coming down to Rexom. Uh I was going down all these bridal ways and it kind of ended. There was a field and it looked like people had followed the track. I went I follow that. I ended up in someone’s back garden about half a mile down the road and I couldn’t get through. There was a barking dog so I had to come back out right up the the plowed field again. Oh, you uh we went and had to go and then I looked at the map and went, “Okay, we go around.” And it took me probably an hour to go around. Yeah. So, it is an adventure. Yeah. So, I never know where I’m going to end up. So, but I’ve got water with me. I’ve got food. I’ve got steak. So, I’m I’m fine. I’m going to see if you want any water. You can fill up. Yeah. We’re all full up at the moment. Thank you. So, yeah. If I get anywhere, I can just put pasta on warm steak. Well, my steak’s cooked rare, so I can always warm it through. Thank you very much. But Twitch was like a gaming platform owned by mic uh not Microsoft owned by Amazon. Okay. So you got Amazon owned Twitch, YouTube, Google, and then you had Microsoft had Mixer. Mixer closed down. Okay. So the big ones now are going to be Facebook, YouTube, and Amazon are the main players. Yeah. Uh so Twitch, I was a gamer. Yeah. And then I started cycling and basically become Clive’s Adventures rather than gaming. And started going out doing it. And I raised money. So the barcode takes you to my website and I raise money for Great Orman Street Hospital along the way. So So there’s trying to get people out and about. We need to get people out and about. People were struggling with mental health and I think they come out and do this a lot of their mental health will be a lot easier. Yeah. If they get out and there’s the fitness as well. So it’s trying to do get people out because there’s mental health, there’s fitness and then there’s raising money for the kids. So it’s and at the same time I get to have a wicked time. Yeah. So, it’s it’s a win-win and I get to meet people and that’s the best bit about doing this is getting out and and having a laugh. Uh, and you never know where the journey’s going to take you. So, hi everyone. How are we doing? So, how you doing guys? This is totally off the cuff. Um, I just thought I’d do a live. The reason being I’m at a um trying to think the name of the vioduct we’re at. My memor is shocking. This is the Lang It’s Langland Canal. What’s the What’s the Yeah. See, what’s it called? Look, give me some detail. One of the highest wire ducks in the in in in um in the world or Europe or something, is it? Yeah, I think so. But this guy was struggling trying to come up the stairs. I gave him a hand, started chatting to him and um he’s been cycling for quite a while. Um whereabouts did you start from Clive? So I start started in Wick in Scotland from Wick to John Gro. So last year I done a Land to John. So I wanted to continue last year’s ride. How long did that take? Last year took 37 days. Wow. Uh this year we’re on day 32. Well, say day 30 because two days were trains. So two day 30 on cycling. Uh so we’ve done all the north coast. Yeah. Done some of the NC500. We’ve come down from Loch Ness all the way through all the locks and the valleys. Uh round some Glen Nevice. Yeah. So bottom of Glen Nevice up to Gleno ski resort. Gleno is one of my favorite areas I’ve done. So from Gleno ski resort I done the mountain pass on that. No way. That was the best thing ever in the rain as well. So that was on that bike. On that bike, this is quite heavy. Tell everyone how many kilos it is. 60 kg. It’s 60 kilo push. They don’t make so all the bike shops says he just loves waffling about himself. Hello. It’s the misses popped in. I’ve just met this. He’s a YouTuber. So he does van life. So I forget the camera’s over there, not over here. That’s the thing with me. The camera’s always on the bike. Yeah. Uh so yeah, we’re just having a bit of a collaboration and a chat about what I do. So yeah, no plans. Last year was on a planned route. This year I just go, “Right, I’m going to get to there where I’ve just put a navigation point and I just see where the the navigation takes me. But I’m blown away, Sam, because this is the Langland aqueduct. I didn’t even I haven’t looked where I’m going. I just appear in places and then it hits me. Says you’re on. Research is wide up, guys. It’s um it’s quite impressive. I’ve just walked along it. I’ve done a I’ve done a lovely video and um I was going to not do a live, but I thought off the cuff, why not? It’ be childish not to. now got um 58 people watching. So it’s not bad for during the day so far. Do you mind if I shout myself out on your channel? Yeah, tell tell everybody. So yeah, I’m Clive’s Adventures. So on YouTube, it’s Clive’s Adventures and pretty much the same across social media platform and I’m just trying to grow really like yourself. You’ve you’ve done really well in the time you’ve been on YouTube. I think the problem is I hate editing. I haven’t got the time for editing. So I just live stream, the camera’s on, it catches stuff. What I need is someone in the middle taking the clips and putting them out and making the stuff from it. The thing is, I’ve got this thing where I say I don’t edit. And what I mean by that is I record and quite a few times I’ve wiped out, I’ve fallen over, but I leave it in there. And what I do, there’s a there’s an app called Cap Cut. And what you do with Cap Cut, if I do 20 clips, I just go bang bang bang bang bang to Cap Cut. And within a minute, it’s it’s it’s made a documentary with clipped it all together. And it’s that easy. It takes minutes. There’s no editing. I don’t I don’t I don’t edit. Cap cut. Cap cut. There it goes. Can you put uh put that in the Discord for me cuz I soon as I It’s so easy to do. Spend hours trying to do it. It’s It’s literally done in minutes. Yeah. You know, cuz I I haven’t got time to do that. That’s what I use. Do you know what I mean? Oh, okay mate. Cool. Says cap says remind is that is that Android or iPhone? Android. It’s very clever. Do you know Android is so more advanced than iPhones? Cuz I don’t think that’s very clever the way that does that. So, I’ve got uh a Discord server. Yeah. On the back end and they’ve just done a they do a command and type it and it sends that and puts that information as a reminder in a Remind channel on the Discord. So, if I need to remember something, it lists all the bits of things. So, I can go in later and go right done, done, done and tick them off cuz I’ve got ADHD. I will forget as soon as we talk about something else, everything else has been wiped. So, have you got ADHD or Cuz they want to put everything in a box. Apparently, I got mental disorders, but everyone wants to label everything, don’t they? Oh, you’re this or you were that. There’s no such thing as normal, my friend. There really isn’t. I don’t want to be normal. No, I don’t want to be normal. Everyone’s got to fit in the box. Well, they say that anyone we were hunter gatherers. That’s what they reckon. That’s why I enjoy to go out on the bike and don’t have to plan. I just want to adventure. Yeah. So, it’s brilliant. So this guy um cuz I was cuz what I do I I um I talk about life and my emotions and everything whilst I’m out on the road traveling and um I done a thing where um if I meet someone or I instantly like them or instantly dislike him whether it’s a kind of energy about someone I can instantly pick pick up negativity but straight away even just looking down at you I thought you’re a nice guy. I just knew well I don’t the MS is probably the only one she’ll probably say I’m an [ __ ] should probably call me a few things, but uh is similar to respect to me cuz it sounds to me you’re very spontaneous cuz you’re saying that you don’t plan nothing really and I don’t plan nothing. I live my day from day to day and because that’s the way to enjoy life. If you start worrying about tomorrow and what if you’ll end up doing nothing in the world if you plan you’re always worried you’re not going to get there or what’s going to happen. Whereas if you just go oh let’s go there and just head in that direction. You meet people along the way, but you’re not in a hurry to go, “Sorry, I’ve got to go cuz I’ve got to get somewhere.” 5% of the time. Yeah, you do look after me 5% of the time to be quite honest. It’s brilliant. Reading the comments out. Read your comments out. YouTube is the one platform where things don’t work quite very well. So if if they was to jump into my live stream on YouTube and say hello, it will read them out. But sometimes it reads them out more than once. Sometimes it doesn’t read them out at all. YouTube connections a bit weird. you really want to try and grow your YouTube channel because that is where you can get monetized and earn your money. Yeah, that’s what we’re working on at the moment. So, if I restart my YouTube chat, it should really Well, maybe the thing to do is to not go live all the time and to to do videos and go live now and again cuz it’s people so friends and family have all got YouTube. YouTube’s the one everyone’s got. Not not everyone’s got Twitch. So, for some of my friends, they’re not going to install Twitch to come and see me. So they just pop in on YouTube quickly say, “Oh, how you doing? All right, I’m back off to work.” So that’s why I’m live on YouTube. I’m also on shorts as well. So I’m live on the YouTube and the shorts. Shorts is is where it’s at. The more shorts you do, the more it’s just like Tik Tok and Instagram. They can for some people they like anything more than 10 or 15 20 minute video they won’t bother watching. But a short for 30 seconds up to 3 minutes because now YouTube since December last year, they now do shorts up to 3 minutes. It used to be 60 seconds. Keeping up with Tik Tok. And by the way, not sure if you know this. Ah, there’s John. John’s on YouTube. So yeah, John’s started popping in and watches us now. Um, Instagram has brought Tik Tok out now. And apparently Tik Tok’s going to be disappearing. YouTube Tik Tok I get suspended daily. Every time I go live on Tik Tok, we have to make a new account. Why? So I go live, go, morning everyone. How are we doing? We’re going to go cycling. Boom. Banned. And it was like and it come up begging for gifts. I’m like, we’ve only just gone live. Then it was something else. Then it was something else. So in the end I deleted the account. I think I think we were getting trolled and people were reporting for no reason. You do. Unfortunately, you do get a lot of haters. So, and we had a guy on YouTube coming the other day and he was being really nasty and I said, “Guys,” I said, “I’m raising money for a children’s hospital. Like, why?” And they were, “Oh, sorry.” Then it actually hit them like, “Don’t Why do it?” So, oh well. So, listen guys, if you just join me, I’m with a guy called Clive. I think he’s an absolute legend. He’s been cycling a 60 kilo push bike. Um, you know, obviously you got to be a bit of a lunatic to do that in this league for starters. I think I’ve been called worse. Lunatic’s probably mild. What’s the longest How long do you think this trip’s going to last? I think we’ve probably got another two and a half weeks. Uh, so it’ll be from here to Shrewdbury, Worcester, Oxford. We’re going to go Jeremy Clarkson’s place, get some food there. I’ve been there. Diddly squat. Yeah, we haven’t been there yet. So, we’re going to take everyone on the bike there. And then from there, I’ll probably get back to London and get the train back out of London cuz I’ve done the ride to and from London. 91 says a month more hopefully. There’s the message. So I do hotels, kind of your normal kind of wedding parties, that kind of thing. So background music. I’m into my Chance and R. I’m an original acid house from the from the 80s. I was happy hardcore, hardcore, jungle, drum and bass. Going to all the the drum and bass nightclubs back in the day. A few brain cells lost because of that, I think. Uh what fun though, some good times. Waking up in a field was the I woke up in a Well, actually I didn’t wake up in a field. I was in a field raving 2 days later and then realized there was an issue. So yeah, that was in your early 20s. Wow. So happy days they were. Yeah. Oh, you met some great people back then. Do you know what? I’m going back to the days like in the late in the um in the late ‘ 80s where you used to have a telephone. All right. There was no mobile phone. She used to go to a telephone box. You used to phone the number and the guy would go, “Yeah, now go and meet us at so and so.” You drive to another area, you done that three or four times, then you ended up at a warehouse or a field. We we managed to we bumped well we we were out one night and we saw something going on. We’ve went on to the marshes and there was a massive party down there. So yeah, that used to happen all but now they shut it down, didn’t they? Can’t have any fun. We can’t have a gathering. [ __ ] off. You said we can’t have a gathering. What’s going on, darling? Seriously, it took thing was by the time the police found it in our day, it was all over and done with. It was the next morning. Now, I think technology is too quick. It’s too quick for them to find. I’ve been to I still go to the illegal race, but what happens is is that when you’re in a warehouse or a field or the cars there, the police turn up. They won’t shut it down. They just wait until you finish, but they won’t let any more people in. Oh, okay. So, you can you can still get away with it. So, you just need to get it fully kicked off beforehand, but then they take all the gear at the end of it. The police don’t want to write on their hands. Do you know what I mean? They used to say you can’t play music. I mean, it’s ridiculous, isn’t it? What a tyrannical uh society we live in now, darling. What What got me in the 90s, though, it brought people together. It was completely opposite of what they were trying to sell it as. Yeah. And I think now it they’re trying to stop it. That’s because it represented freedom, my friend. Well, yeah. I don’t want to be called a cyclist. No. Because cyclist to me is going to be the racer guy that’s in the middle of the road that thinks he owns it. That’s normally the What about an adventurer? Yeah. Exactly. That you are an adventurer. Yeah, that’s why they don’t make what I built. So, yeah, that that was built for mountains and just going out and getting away from crowds. I don’t like crowds. No, I don’t like crowds. It’s like me talk to my brother, darling. He’s my brother. I like I like crowds online. That’s fine. Yeah, cuz I can deal with I’m not being surrounded or smothered by it. Yeah. Uh which is okay. And I can deal with that. And live streaming for me, I always had stage fright. So, I would DJ and I could play the music. Yeah. Couldn’t get on the microphone. and I’d lose all my words or I’d splutter and stutter. Live streaming for me has fixed that because I can now just talk to everyone. So if you are strug if you’ve got a problem with being kind of uh speaking in front of people and stuff, live stream on camera cuz it takes away that nervousness and you kind becomes a second nature. So for me it fix that problem. So for a lot of people that might have uh I can’t what it is not ADHD anxiety. No. Uh oh. They want to put everything in a box, don’t they? Yeah. somewhere in that box. Uh but yeah, you certain people that they can’t talk to people, they can’t interact. Live streaming, I think, is a good thing if they can start that. It’s a good way of kind of weaning you away to stop you being scared. 100. Nice. Nice. Yeah. I can’t get that that sort of numbers on YouTube. It I think the biggest part of me is the advertising. Get monetized and start earning. Yeah. I just want to go out and have a laugh really. People come along. But then the other thing I like is I’ll be live streaming, someone comes and goes, “Oh, you you’ve just come past us, we’ve kind of like, oh, where’s the nearest shop? Where’s the nearest pub? Where’s the nearest this?” So speaking to locals and people that come in and it works both ways. Yeah. So yeah, that’s the bit I like cuz I don’t have to plan then. It’s just random. So what type of route do you take when there sort of I know you got to avoid the motorways obviously. I just literally Google. So I stopped using all of the trail apps and just use Google. So, if I’m in a place, I go, “Right, navigate there.” And like, you can see I could have come around the road to get here easier. Yeah. But it took me along the river and up them steps. Yes. It was probably the most stupidest route, but it it’s a ch for me getting up them. I wasn’t going to be put off by it. It was a challenge to get up there and I would have done it on my own eventually. So, thank you for your for helping. You’re more than welcome. I I bought a motor home in the end because I found that what I was going to spend on a VW van, I could buy a massive motor home for the same money. So you lose all the bird noise and them talking and so you got that. So they are really work. So it will bring up the audio of the light. So my main thing for the stream was finding a camera that was really steady and audio that was really clear cuz people don’t want to watch [ __ ] No. Now, when I lose 4G signal, the PC indoors knows the signal’s dropped and it goes to a be right back screen with videos that they clip during the live. So, it’s like a juke box. Jesus tech. Very technical. There’s a That’s all right, mate. I don’t want to be in the way. I know you’ve got other things you want to do. Uh, so I have one in the front to run the phones and when they go flat I then just plugged them into this and charged. And then I’ve got my washing cuz I’ve just done my washing. Uh but yeah, this morning I started just down from Rexom. Yeah. A campsite. Yeah. And I was like, “Right, we’re going to go to Shrewsbury cuz I’m now cutting back to the southeast where I live.” Yeah. It took me along the river and I met some people on the and they went, “Oh, I don’t know if you want to go this way. You should have gone around.” Yeah. Not knowing it was going to bring me up to the Langland Canal where I was on a narrow with my mom and dad a lot of my life. So did not expect. So to me that was a complete surprise. Yeah. And that’s maybe your mentally. Yeah. And I met a fellow streamer over the so we’ve just had a joint stream. So today’s been pretty amazing. And this is why I don’t like planning. It’s brilliant because this is Am I correct in saying this is still fed from the river upstream? Yeah. Yeah. So, um the river says said hi. Hang on guys, I’m going to mute you cuz I want to be talking without you being talked over. Yeah. So, this is the horseshoe falls in. Yeah, that’s it. The So, this is a man-made structure here called the Horseshoe Falls. And this I’ll move the camera. There we go. So, I can see and they can see. They can see. Well, on the camera. Yeah. So, they they can they can see as well then. It’s a wonky anyway. My camera. Yeah. Yeah. So this is um the river D here based in Lang Gothan about four miles on the Langothan Canal down that way. Um it’s horseshoe shaped again. It was created by Thomas Telford and William Jepson who did this canal. This is the feeder. Um so you can see if you point your camera just to the water you can see there’s quite a Yeah, it’s quite a flow on it. You see it moving guys through the canal. Um there’s actually today there’s an environmental study being done on the flow to the canal because they’re looking at doing something on Grand Union to feed the reservoirs down there to to help with the water supply down that network. But anyway, so you go here. Um and this is fantastic. It’s got all the history how it was built set. I think I think mom’s already got one. My sister’s probably got all the books and then you come to Cherk eventually. So you’ll go through a tunnel which is longer than this. This is the second tunnel in the country to be built with a foot path which is pretty amazing. So that’s probably where I don’t see I don’t know where this is going to take me. I’ve just said take me down to Shrewsbury. So it could take me through that tunnel. Yeah, it will take you through that tunnel. Go through that tunnel. So that won’t be on the live stream because there’ll be no internet guys. So yeah. Yeah. And then you’ve got Chur aqueduct. So the vioaduct you see in the distance there comes side by side by the aqueduct. So this is Chir. Nice. So you’ll go across. Yeah. But we’re here. We’re the Canal and River Trust. if you could mention this on your stream, I would really really love it. Um, we’ve had a government funding cut and a huge one at that. So, we’ve lost over 300 million pounds of our funding and then there’s been quite a few breaches which I’ve been seeing. Yeah. Yeah. Well, here the the work that we do here is absolutely immense. So, it’s closed completely January, February, and March to do the maintenance work. Every 10 years and pull the plug out of the middle. Hey. Yeah. So the plug goes down into the river D below. Yeah. And and we do all the maintenance work from there. But we’ve also been hit with storm damage as well. So we’ve had trees that have gone down all across the network. We’re asking people to become friends of the trust to support us. That’s a monthly donation of around £8 a month. that money goes back into the maint now he’s costing so much money there’s not enough money to support things live active if they did want to become friend they’re going [Music] What’s going on? Yeah. But this is what we’re doing and this is why we’re here and this is why there’s loads of fundraisers up and down the canal because we need people’s support. So I raised money for Great Orman Street. So that’s that. Yeah. Uh so when I started doing this, my daughter was really ill. She had severe asthma. Now although she didn’t go to Great Orman Street after you’ve had a poorly child, it kind of opens up your heart a little bit to things. It does. It does. It was from here to up here carrying it on his back all strapped to him. He went across here on the most windiest day. I got I’m getting choked up now. Cuz of mom and dad on here. So yeah, I said it on there. I went, “No, no, just proper get you.” Yeah. So, doesn’t it people that are and me it’s this is why I said until I come up them steps I’m coming along the river and that guy he said, “Oh, do you need help out?” Yes, please, mate. I said to him, I’ll do it if they donate through the bigger. So you can get to Mazbury along the canal as well. So if you keep on here, um you’ll see quite a big junction once you get to Wittington be a junction off to the right and then you could take that down to Mazbury which is on there. Stay on the canals if you wanted. Does get a bit but the canals are all right up to there. I would love to find the only thing. You can tell I’ve got my washing hanging out because it I’ve got some all me arms are burnt my legs cuz it’s been so hot. Even with a 50. And it brought us along there, which everyone was going was the worst route, but in my mind, it was probably the best. There we are. So, but yeah, they’re not with us anymore. This time we was at the Liverpool end. Uh the Langland Canal wasn’t isn’t this one. The Langland Canal was the one opposite where we were earlier. Uh it’s where the boats were turning into. Mom and dad used to have a narrow boat and I come along the river and then I come up to the aqueduct not realizing where I was. Right. and suddenly and they’re not with me anymore. Yeah, I lost them. Uh lost dad October 19, lost mom to COVID 20. Uh and she’d only just sold a narrow boat and she was disappointed. She only got 45 grand for it cuz she’d had it for about 15 20 year. Yeah. I think she paid about 90 grand for it when she first bought it. And then we lost her. And uh yeah, I would have been here what 14 13 14 I think. And I was getting my dad was going get up them bloody steps. stop running cuz we as he’s coming over we run me and my sister went down to the river getting told off so fetched it all back Oh yeah [Music] yeah so it’s it’s not an ebike it’s a normal bike uh but I live stream so I’ve got two I’ve got a phone at the front filming and this one here and they’re both connected to a little battery in there and then I charge the extra ones. Oh brilliant you’re well organized aren’t you? So yeah, this morning my phone was flat, so the sun come out. I threw that in the sun, put my phone in, and that’s how big you need to charge just a phone. So it gives you an idea of how much you need. Yeah. So yeah, we have solar panels on the roof. Yeah. So I noticed most of we’re caravanning most of the new caravan. Plasma Sponges says this bike is 60 kg. It is 60 kg this bike. Yeah. He’s They’re well impressed at how heavy this bike is cuz I I got help. Someone help me lift you up the steps. Oh, right. Yeah, cuz I was struggling. But uh Yeah. But the best point part about this is just meeting people on the way. Yeah. Yeah. Cuz that’s what life’s about is just chatting and meeting people. Because uh we used to go to the Lake District cuz we live near Blackwood. Cleveland’s next door to Blackwood. Yes. Yeah. I So I unfortunately I came down to get the ferry across to Cleveland’s on the Sunday and everyone went, “Oh, no, you wait for it. You have to wait for the tide to come up.” And then I someone someone went online. I went it’s not running till tomorrow morning. I went Monday morning was the next ferry. I went filling suns in. Yeah. So I had to go around. I had to cycle around that day. So I missed uh Fleetwood bridge called the bridge. Uh I don’t know where I went over the You’d have to from end you’d have to I followed the cycle route and it took me right along the coast. So yeah uh St line then the shard bridge. We’re from that area and uh there’s the river runs down in Fleetwood, but we lived like here Pton and big boat houses and everything. All I was a service engineer, so I used to go to all the cinemas and doctor surgeries. All right. And you got the view center at Cleveland’s. Yeah. So I was always there and because I always used to go there, I always used to go to a fish and chip shop. There’s a little fish and chip shop just kind of in the down the road a little bit, not on the seafront. set back and it’s really tiny and they made the best fish and chips and I wanted to go there but by the time we got there I can’t think what it was called. I don’t even know if it’s still there cuz this would have been 10 years a roundabout on the you come along the prominard. So if you’re if I’m at the cinema and I’m looking out to see I’d go left and then go left again and it was along one of the back roads. Yeah. Uh but yeah, I don’t know if it’s still there with you mentioning over Roy work shifts so and I don’t drive but I’d take the kids up to Fleetwood on our bikes. Yeah. And we’d get the ferry and then we’d go round to the river wire that’s down there p and go do a full circle go for the day. So it just reminded me the memory when you talk to people then the memories come back don’t they? So I sat at not end for probably 2 hours talking to strangers and everyone I met they went I think it’s running but no one quite knew if it was working or not. Yes. So I just sat there for 2 hours and had a chat. Everyone in the live stream was like if we sat there for 2 hours and not moved. I went yeah it’s fine. Not a hurry. Be a cold guard I think. Well all the boats are out the water at the time. Wouldn’t you call guard place there just by the ferry? Uh oh. I don’t know. I didn’t see it. Yeah maybe there is. I just didn’t see table. Yeah. Yeah. I couldn’t. There was nothing there. No, it’s a bit probably couldn’t it long? No, but it was low tide. Uh, so it probably didn’t work Sunday. High tide was at 9:00. So, I thought, well, maybe it will be in the water at about 6:00 p.m. But I wasn’t going to wait all day when I could cycle around. So, I cycle around. That probably took me about an hour and a half on the bike. About 15 mile to go around. Yeah, that’s it. And to go we used to go as uh when I was kids we used to go down and you always go over wire cuz you had to cross and there’s a bridge you see and it used to be a toll bit bridge years back like in Pton where you still had the stocks and everything. So years past it so it’s always talked about over wire they never had a uh what was it? They didn’t Oh they didn’t have gas if you bought over there. So it always seemed a remote place to go over there. Yeah, but it just reminded me going Well, don’t don’t stop doing your walking. Don’t stop because you I’m from Kent, so long way to go. Yeah, just a bit. We’re like you. We like part of it to stop and talk. Everyone I’ve met, right, who is of a certain age that still does this are still well. The ones that have stopped and sitting indoors doing nothing, they haven’t got long left. No, that’s true. So, keep doing what you’re doing. Or lose it. Yeah. Yes, exactly. So, I met a guy last year cycling lands to Jon. He was 85 and he was in the middle of nowhere and we sat and had coffee together and I said, “So, where’s the wife?” He said, “Oh, she’s indoors.” I said, “So, when did you leave?” He went, “Oh, I’m on month three.” So, he was just walking across the fields and just rambling. And he said, “I’ve done this a few times.” He said, “I take different routes every time.” Yeah. He said, “And it’s marvelous the people you meet. We met this old guy when we was a good few years younger and he used to do the skiing in the Al moving from these alpine huts to Alpine huts and he moved to the late days and we were uh it was when we did um what do you call it? Uh that long street high street is it? High street. Yeah. Yeah. High street. And he could see his house from there. So, we wanted to be uh out walking every single day. Yeah. I think we’d be in our 60s then, but it wasn’t it wasn’t our way. It was No, it’s said about when he like we went skiing so we talked about but he did all these alpine foots and refues that he stayed and traveled along the really advent and he’d climb mountains all over the world and everything and he Yeah. Now he just flooded around the lake yesterday. Yeah. Yeah. thought he was still fit all but we’re both 79. So we think as long as we can keep plotting along and yeah well he he said the same thing. He said as long as he keeps doing it and he said if unless he his body suddenly slows down. But he said the uh thing is if you get ill and you stop the older you are the longer it takes for you to get back to that fitness. Oh yeah definely. Yeah. And I’m finding that I’m only in my 40s. Oh, yeah. Well, you can see that with professional tennis players or footballers, whatever. Once they get past 30, they start. You could see the Yeah. They, you know, they don’t recover. So, yeah. If you two enjoy this, just keep doing it. I hope that I can do this when I’m your age. Well, we had to move off the hill and I broke my hip. I broke my hip and had a quite a few complications with it. And now I’m happy to stroll along the canals. And we spent an hour at when we first set off and then this lady that was out of the and she was 85. But it doesn’t bother us cuz we’ve done this last. Welcome in. How you doing? Uh and he’d come packed with all these uh waterproofs cuz he wales and we had a heat wave and we met him a few times cuz we was in the car so we’d have to walk and then walk back. Where is he? He is set up. New Gale. New Salbury. Really nice area. And he said he has no plan. Yep. Best way to be. He’s got his uh uh his plane ticket back to Rome. His water. He never used never used his water. He sets off each morning. He stops at a pub for his lunch. He stops at another pub. Rihanna got it. Set him up. He said, “I need to sit and talk to your parade.” And then because we met him a few times because we kept driving out to different places. No. And he said, “When the time comes, wherever I am, I’ll just get on the train back to London and he was there for a month, weren’t they?” I thought that’s fantastic.
