Some smooth sailing from the Makarska Riviera up the Neretva river to Mostar. A refreshing change of scenery with Bosnia and its indescribable character, just biking form one gorgeous town to another.
That’s where I slept. That was someone on their morning run. But we’re high up. We’re good. No one saw me. And there was just this one light beaming directly into the tent all night. But other than that, this is great. Can’t complete. Wow, guys. I might be washed. My legs hurt from yesterday and the day before. Like surprisingly a lot. I’m super slow today, but it’s okay. We got two days to get to Marar where I’ll meet Jack. Jack making a comeback. Hell yeah. I can’t wait. I know. We’ll do some stuff with him over there, man. Like, it’s gorgeous. I want to stop everywhere, but I got to keep biking. Damn, man. Look at this [ __ ] I just took an inland route. Uh, got away from the sea. It’s like maybe a kilometer that way. But now it’s like this is lakes like from the Nerva River. Over there in the valley is Plch. Then over from there, the river just goes up and land into Bosnia, which is the river I’ll follow. But man, this is just [ __ ] gorgeous. This would be like a natural park or something. It might be. I don’t know. Made it to Pl. Going to find a cafe now to just bum out for a while and charge all my stuff. My phone is dead, which is quite rare. But yeah, damn. Water everywhere over here. Stopped in Plche for like a couple hours, charged a bunch of my stuff. Phone is no longer dead. And now we’re going towards Bosnia, basically. Oh, there you go. First sign. Ba. Oh, this is pretty much a highway. [ __ ] it. We ball, man. I was just biking normally, but it’s quite windy and a gust of wind just popped the hat off my head and I I had I was like in that curve, so I had to stop quite a bit away. I watched six cars drive over this thing and it has Yeah, it suffered a bit, but like six [ __ ] cars like wheels and everything like not just didn’t just like pass over it. They they rolled like on it. No damage. [ __ ] legendary hat. Biking along the Netata River. It’s nice cuz there’s a main road on the other side of the river, too. So, only about less than half the cars come here. [Music] All right. And this is the border town. Over there in the gray is Bosnia. It’s a big rain cloud it looks like. [ __ ] But we’ll see. That blue thing over there is the border, which makes this a interesting to say the least border crossing. What the hell? What the hell is this? Oh, the border passed flawlessly. I just came into this shop to try and buy a SIM card. Uh, they had one, but it was only 4 GB, so didn’t buy it. But now it’s raining. All right. We’re on the road again. That was a really short rain spurt of like 15 minutes, so we’re good. Welcome to Bosnia. This what it looks like for now. Love this place. I just got passed by a guy in like a big ass motorcycle without a helmet and he’s like, “Did you know there’s Troy right here to your right?” And my dad just mentioned to me like on our last phone call that there’s this guy who before Schlleman discovered Troy in Turkey, he claimed that Troy was here in Bosnia. The same thing as the guy with the pyramids right now. So, let me see what the hell this looks like. Troy before Troy. As you can see, these are some pretty [ __ ] big ass walls. There’s also just a guy who built his house with one of the walls as his back wall. And that’s where I live. You know, apparently that was some guy’s driveway. This is chaotic. But yeah, this is this was believed to be Troy until the real Troy was discovered because all this was buried. Like look, this is some serious serious wall. Gorgeous view. Look over there’s Croatia. Boom. Pow! This is really sick. See if I can climb up here. Get a better view. That looks like a looters pit if I’ve ever seen one. But dude, like this is big. I’m so beyond confused. Okay, this is floor level cuz like big tiles and stuff. Man, this is wild to just be like abandoned in someone’s backyard like this. Some sort of oven or something with Holy [ __ ] What the [ __ ] type of What the [ __ ] type of venomous [ __ ] is that? All right. Um, yeah, stopped at a gas station and got some a new USD card for Bosnia. And, uh, yeah, we’re we’re cruising now. Going to Chap Chaplina. And from there onwards. This is so nice, so calm. I’m not going to lie, it feels good. It feels like I’ve left civilization, which might be wrong to say, but this like a lawless land with beautiful rivers apparently. Have yet to see a guy on a bike wearing a helmet. Have yet to see a side of the road that isn’t filled with trash. So many broken down things, cars, houses, buildings, everything. But it’s got such character. I love it. This is stunning. Holy [ __ ] Look at this jumble of a bridge. So sick. All right, I’m just going to say this here in case I don’t overvoice it, whatever. Uh, put in a voice afterwards, but obviously this place has an extremely scarred history. Um, partly because of the war. So you saw there’s like kind of a Croatian modified flag on the banner next to Bosnian one and that’s because this is like the Croatian Republic of Herzek Bosnia which yeah this is the part that the Croats occupied where there’s more Croats than the Croats form a majority I guess is a nice way to put it. compared to the other parts where Bosnjaks and Serbs uh account for the majority and so you can still see traces of war all over the town. Um oh boy. Yeah, people out here do not care about bikes. Ah, okay. This place looks sick. I’m going to find a sleeping spot here somewhere and uh visit this place in the morning cuz I’m pretty sure most of it is closed now. [Music] for [Music] the bean’s There. There’s a spot down there. We go left. There’s a little bank. I don’t think anyone’s going to be going down there, but I’m going to wait for the sun to go down before setting up. All right. So, that’s where I was planning to put my tent, but I just realized these stairs come out. basically look straight into my tent down here. There isn’t really much unless I go right by the water. That would be pretty gigachad. I mean, dude, there’s space. [ __ ] there’s so many mosquitoes, dude. This might be a shot. Yeah. So, I’m climbing up. Well, the sun’s gonna have set, but who cares? I can’t wait till tomorrow. I’m impatient. I’m at the castle. Damn, bro. This [ __ ] is sick. Absolutely epic. Chat, is this real, Chat? Yeah, it is. It’s Boston. Love this cliff. No [ __ ] fence. They do not care. That’s under construction for a big ass highway. Just killed half the [ __ ] hill for it. But uh it’s the biggest bridge in Boston. And that’s just free. You just walk in there. Damn, this is sick. Holy [ __ ] brother. Wow. So [ __ ] cool. That looks down. dog. I’m so happy. Man, bro, you can even be all the way on top. This is so sick. Wow. decided to chill here until nightfall. Now there’s train going across. Lights turned on at the mosque. Everyone pretty much left. All the shops are closed down. I’m still chilling up here at the castle. The night is falling, so I’ll go set up my tent now. loading Bino up. This is where I left him for the night. Right there. That’s where it was. No one touched him. So, I just ate breakfast and we’re off. Man, I love Bosnia. I’m going to need to change the uh clean the chain and add some oil cuz it’s making more and more noise. But hey, it survived a [ __ ] while. without a boil or any sort of maintenance. I just been brute forcing his ass. Look at this. That’s the nerva. This river goes up into Mustar. That’s the Buuna, which here kind of just slowly falls into the Holy [ __ ] you can drive fast on this bridge. People do not care. I thought this was a pedestrian bridge, not going to lie. This is beautiful. So sick. Friend on the bridge. Ciao. St. Huh? Okay. Okay, we’re next to a big old train yard, which is good to know. If I ever decide to go train hopping with Jack, this trailard here is pretty easy to just escape into the shrubs. Dude, imagine if we went [ __ ] train hopping when I stashed the bike away. Oh, we like threwhike, end up at the other end of the mountain range, and then [ __ ] how do we get back? We hop on a [ __ ] train. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. We’re brewing. We’re cooking here. This feels kind of Everything is burned. Look at those hills. [ __ ] dude. There ain’t a single speck of green on there. All gray and red. So, yeah. It looks honestly very depressing. But yeah, we’re like 7 kilometers away uh outside of Mustar, like the old city. So yeah, let’s go. As dilapidated as this [ __ ] looks, it’s all still functional, which is crazy. Look at that [ __ ] Holy [ __ ] How long has it been running? quite chaotic out here. The idiot I am. I put the wrong bridge into my GPS. So, I just overshot the whole thing by like 2 3 kilometers. So, now we’re on the other side going back. That’s an absolutely gorgeous building for it to be abandoned like that. That sucks. I’m lost. I’ll just go around the old town and find the bridge. It can’t be that hard to find. Found the town center walking space thing. Within two days, we have a rock climbing challenge, a Beatles concert, and a jazz festival. Yeah, but um that’s exactly what I need. Yeah, man. I Okay, I don’t know how much of that I filmed, but yeah, met up with Jack. [ __ ] great to catch up on stories and everything. What a what a guy, man. Honestly. Um, now I’m headed out to Tanya’s um to drop off my bike and also meet them for the first time in a while. Uh, but yeah, so I don’t know really how that’ll turn out, but I’m down to see. Like there’s no no pressure whatsoever. And after that, we either get picked up uh to go or I make my way back down to town by bus or something and have a night out with Jack and guys. Met some Aussie dudes on the beach looking at people’s cliff jumping and also went to for a dip in the Natva which was amazing. But yeah, I’m I’m sorry, guys, but I just somehow forget filming when I’m actually like not alone. This is where Pino is going to be staying for a good while. Well, a good while, like a week probably. Yeah, I’ll rearrange all my bags, leave the bisag here, take only what I need for a good through hike and stuff, and uh yeah, make the bag as like as light as possible. That’s the update. Obviously, I didn’t just show up at these people’s places. I’ve been like, it’s dark now outside and uh I’ve been basically drinking with them for like the past 3 hours. [Music] from he said rock.
