Welcome to an incredible journey through one of France’s most stunning natural wonders – the Gorges du Verdon. This scenic drive along the Route des Crêtes offers breathtaking views, thrilling turns, and a visual feast of the Provence landscape in 4K quality.
Geographical Highlights:
The Gorges du Verdon, often referred to as the “Grand Canyon of Europe,” is located in southeastern France, straddling the departments of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Var. Carved by the Verdon River, the gorge reaches depths of up to 700 meters (2,300 feet) and stretches approximately 25 kilometers (15.5 miles). This drive provides a panoramic view of the limestone cliffs, deep blue waters, and lush greenery that make this region a natural paradise.
The Gorges du Verdon was formed over millions of years through the erosion caused by the Verdon River.
The area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering activities such as hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, and paragliding.
The Verdon River gets its striking turquoise color from the rock flour suspended in the water, a result of glacial action.
Nearby Localities:
Moustiers-Sainte-Marie: A picturesque village renowned for its earthenware pottery and nestled at the base of rocky cliffs. It’s also known for the star hanging between two cliffs, a centuries-old tradition.
Lac de Sainte-Croix: A stunning artificial lake created by the construction of a dam on the Verdon River. It’s a popular spot for swimming, sailing, and other water sports.
Castellane: A charming town at the entrance to the gorge, known for its historic Notre-Dame du Roc chapel perched high above the town.

This drive is not just about the stunning views of the gorge; it’s also an opportunity to immerse yourself in the serene and captivating landscapes of Provence. The rolling lavender fields, quaint villages, and the aroma of wild herbs and flowers create an unforgettable sensory experience.

Salutations d'Ankara, Turquie.
can you please mention the starting and the Ending point please
Is the drive difficult or risky? Or should be safe ?
Amazing Road 👍💯👏 great ereal 🍀
