[Music] Have you seen it? show you here. I’m sorry. Was that supposed to be a surprise? It’s good to be on the camera. [Music] That was just me. Yellow bike. Yeah. Appreciate the turn around. It’s uh awesome. [Music] We’ve done what we’ve done and I don’t think it should end here, right? Let’s keep our feet on the ground. Let’s do things one thing at a time, step by step. If Ben gets to some point in the race where it doesn’t work out, we can go reset and go back to our usual lives of trying to win stages. But we can do hardcore things here, right? We’ve already done hardcore things here. What do we need to do to do that? The first thing I think that we need to do is listen to all the noise outside and the noise that you hear when you open your phones, right? You should enjoy that because you earned it. And that’s the attention that people who do exceptional things get, right? But we need to know how and when to tune that out, right? There’s signal and there’s noise. So enjoy it. All the stuff that’s coming today. But today isn’t just a show day for us. It’s actually a racing day, right? Yellow everything today. Knock some eyes. It’s not real, is it really? People out cheering, but just another day. Crazy. Yeah. Enjoy it. Let’s go, boys. Feeling good. Been told to try and moderate my emotions a few times, so I’m doing my best to do that, but very excited. It’s just incredible, you know, to see the support and uh and everything else. It’s Yeah. blown away by it all. Yeah. Honestly, just doesn’t feel real. Yeah. It’s uh it’s going to be a special day. [Applause] You feel that what the team is doing is affecting people and they want to share it with us and that’s why we do what we do to share what we create, you know, together and uh people want to be a part of that. It’s really cool. It’s pretty surreal honestly. Uh yeah, I mean we’re on such a high right now. We got a stage win. We’re in the yellow jersey. going to try to defend the race and yeah be at the front of the Pelaton today in the tour to France and that’s uh something that doesn’t come around too often so we’re going to enjoy it. We want to defend the jersey, keep Ben and Yellow and keep the keep the flow going. I’m very I’m very motivated and this team is really really nice. I mean, I’m from Tulus, so I live here. My hometown and uh yellow jersey, new bike, first car at home. It feel quite special for me. But yeah, how cool is that, right? It’s just cool. Two days ago, I basically lost my whole day watching the stage. Kind of switched on when I seen four boys were at the break and then couldn’t really switch it off until the finish. just counting down the seconds to make sure he went to yellow. And then to be here and see the buzz and the atmosphere and all the people just in such good spirits and uh all the boys so motivated to keep yellow and really fight for Ben. It’s incredible. And yeah, I think for Ireland it’s it’s something to be extremely proud of to only be the fourth rider ever in yellow. I mean, what can you say? Here he is. He looks looks pretty cool. So, I think I might have to ask for a photo, too. enjoy. [Music] [Music] [Applause] just like a sponsor. What do you have to do to get it? You got to be You have to have yellow, you know. Okay, I’m going to do that. Where’s Charlie? I don’t know what to say. I really don’t know what to say. I think it’s a bit small, but at the same time, it look cool. [Music] What’s the problem, Charlie? Just like this. And then [Music] get it all. [Music] Today is a normal race. It’s a painting with a nice shiny frame around it, but we know what the picture looks like cuz we’ve seen it before. Switch on race mode. Get in position. you’re you’re defending the jersey, but you’re really only defending the jersey from about at this point in the race 10% of the riders that are not even less that are in the Pelaton. You’re really not worried about most of the riders because um most of them are too far behind to actually threaten the yellow jersey. And then even the a few of them that are actually close enough to threaten the yellow jersey, you know, are maybe saving their, you know, saving their bullets for a later date. So on a day like today, what we do is, you know, you have to be at the front to observe who is trying to go in the breakways, close to the front to observe who’s going to the breakways. And then you basically are trying to pick up on if there’s somebody that’s close to the yellow jersey that’s trying to be active slipping into one of these bigger breakaways that goes away with other riders that are just trying to win the stage. And if you see that happen, then the team has to react immediately. Conversely, in the moment where the breakaway is actually forming, which today was chaotic the entire day, in that moment, you have to wa watch for when someone within 2 or 3 minutes tries to slip in. And that did happen actually once today. And we had to close that gap very sharply and suddenly. Push hard here, guys. Short turns. We’ve got to close this. It’s a it’s a very defensive posture because you’re you’re basically playing everything to not lose. You’re not trying to win. Big attack of Yonas. Thank God on the climb. Ben Healey needs to react. [Music] [Applause] Good job, man. Good job. [Applause] Chaos. I think it was the most stressful day of my life, but we’re here soon, so I’m happy. Stressful. I can tell you that. Uh the stage just kept on going, you know. It was a massive massive fight for the break and uh yeah, we I missed the first split cuz I honestly wasn’t expecting it to to go that crazy, but uh yeah, I think a lot of guys did and the team did an amazing job to bring me back and from then on I was super switched on and uh just followed followed everything and was in the front when I needed to be and uh yeah, eventually the break went and uh it was a more controlled final until this last little kick of the full climb and yeah, I definitely had a had a bit of a throw in there, but uh yeah, I dug it deep and made it into a line to hold on to yellow. Yeah, it was special, but uh it was also an incredibly hard day, I think. Yeah, on paper it said flat sprint and that just wasn’t the case at all. It was just it was just chaos. Like the group splitting into pieces few times on the crosswinds and then some of these short steep climbs. Um yeah, pretty much every puncher from every team was trying to get in the move today, so it just made for a really intense stage. Everyone was really committed today.
