  1. They wouldn't lose or break there thumb while loading the M1 grand they ether use one hand to load the M1 and the other the hold the clip and some times the clip wouldn't even close and you'd have to push the clip and your finger would have only gotten scratched, brused, or lose there finger nail

  2. The M1 Garand very rarely did this, and you also don't lose your thumb. On a Garan in good conditions, the bolt has to already be very VERY weakly attached for it to slide forward when reloading, otherwise it'll stay up.

  3. Actually this isn’t true even @worldwarwisdom showed it, it will hurt but it’s not that bad and multiple reloads and those few failed attempts the most damage is some bruising or minor cuts and scratching also voltspade or something like that said the same thing about bruising and cuts so yes shout out to him ig

  4. This is actually semi untrue. You had to use both hands to work. The action now releasing it with the one hand while your thumb is still in there. Wood Creek Grantham but if you did it normally and just release the action because you had to do with two hands. If you were actually paying attention to what you're doing, you wouldn't get it caught. It was not as bad as people said it was. It did happen but it only happened in times where soldiers weren't paying attention to what they were doing which probably happened in high stressful situations

  5. They didnt push the bullet into the chamber they simply. Pushed doen the clip and then pull their hand up fast. Most soldiers simply held the bolt back s9 that they didnt get garand thumb
