I’M ON A QUEST: For culture cuisine, and connection — in every country in the world. For over ten years I’ve been riding around the world alone on my motorcycle. I’m not going to stop until I’ve ridden through every country in the world.
WorldRider TV is my YouTube Channel that captures the raw essence of solo travel around the world on a motorcycle. Some videos are raw and rough while others are edited and produced. Everything is real and authentic. I’m not out to ride the toughest roads, climb the highest mountains, search for ghosts, or solve mysteries.
I am out to meet the beautiful people of this world, to try to understand their culture, and learn about their history. All along enjoying good food, drink, and laughs. We all share much more in common that we have differences. I’m blown away by the kindness of strangers and how many times I’ve been brought into the homes and families of people everywhere.
There are no strangers in this world, only friends I haven’t met. SO I hope I meet you. Meanwhile, join me and subscribe to my YouTube Channel, follow me in the usual places like Instagram and Facebook.
================
It all started on July 4th—symbolic for freedom and independence in my home country, USA. I set off alone on my trusty BMW F650GS Dakar motorcycle to travel the world. I didn’t know exactly where I’d go or how long it would take. After three years traveling through thirty-five countries and five continents I returned home in California and wrote the book that documented that adventure in stories, photos, and recipes: FORKS: A QUEST FOR CULTURE, CUSINE, AND CONNECTION.
Then came a one-year cross country book tour in his legendary “FORKS Van”, then a television show on THE COOKING CHANNEL, inspirational speaking gigs, and much more. All along I continue to ride the world months at a time, returning home to work and save for the next segment—always leaving my motorcycle in some garage somewhere around the world.

hey this is Alan Karl world rider and we are riding the world here’s some thoughts notes observations as I head from Kosovo to Macedonia ordered aboard I’m south of Cristina now I guess I’m going to makedonia no time to go to Bulgaria but on the way out of town on top of this building I saw in the Statue of Liberty standing proud in the center of this ten story building right there in the centre of Christina was a massive Albanian flag flying and we are in percival for all practical purposes so there’s something weird going on here and also it’s just a one big megalopolis of shopping centers a bit ugly big logos plastered on the sides of these warehouse type buildings it’s it’s really I get an odd feeling understand and and in Kosovo itself weird collection of flags you know American flags are flown in many places in the Albanian flag a statue of skander Beck you know the great Albanian Liberator their their only hero in the center square of the outside the government Congress building sadly I don’t have enough time to kind of dig in here so anyway I’m on my way to makedonia which my good friend who knows in Serbia calls a fake city like Bollywood not even like Disneyland he calls it like Bollywood so that’s the story here in scoundrel Beck Ville rather Kosovo headed to the border the short-lived about maybe 20 kilometers more or less a new highway here GPS didn’t even know it was there you can see they’ve got the signs up here that are you know indicating this roads going to continue all the way to Chicago up to I just passed one of these signs that said there’s a you know a service area a rest area with gas bathroom and food and all that was there was a construction staging area for construction materials building his Road this there’s a railroad down there too here’s a tip for you if you do end up in Kosovo and you you needed part or you know keys of the junk car some construction materials get off the main road you’ll find it we’re going into the tunnel I don’t think we’re gonna get on that thing but there’s buses up there that I bet bring workers out to the construction site Wow look at this I mean that is that’s a major maid now this kind of wise deterrence it’s above that River a bunch of people out there they all came on those buses and I’m getting dizzy looking down in these guys these guys they’re up there and there’s a big piece missing that’s why we’re not on that look at that they’re still trying to figure that one out it’s pretty this this project still a year to year to go I would say but I’ve had a good year you’ll be to be on that road that crane so press Baird in Kosovo and see anything in this scale in the Serbian side nor have I seen anything of this scale anywhere in the Balkans all right let’s take out this tanker hopefully I’ll be okay is my shield but this project that I’m looking at right here that goes from Macedonia sculpting and to Christina in Kosovo is pretty huge for to young border-to-border guys makedonia is next makedonia is next this guy just had a good ticket piss it’s pretty spectacular this road project okay I’m gonna take a picture [Music] this roads got major holes in it everybody has to slow down it’s like watching people on an obstacle course go over it I took some pictures on the bridge making a big u-turn area almost like ran into the side of the bridge think you all saw that okay we’re gonna get this road on the show the least Kevin big you ten before when I was coming on the side of that bridge and I finally got my organs right there’s a car right next to me I’m like good thing I didn’t hit it all right well there it is there’s my fascinating construction project we saw I saw a bunch of pieces at its bridge I mean these bridges coming together several kilometers back I imagine we’re pretty close to the border but the weirder part of this is you know we’re sandwiched here between Serbia and the north Macedonia on the south and then of course Albania to the west and to the east here we have Bulgaria so the question is is this little this little enclave of Albanian ethnic Albanians skander Beck worshiping Albanians was the agreement because you know why didn’t this become part of Albania and the people still want that and is this what the Serbia Serbs are are worried about they not only lost the territory and it’s an independent state at this moment but yeah the EU is pouring money into it but yet Albania itself is so far from being anywhere close to el-beit to being part of the EU okay I am at the border right now of Kosovo and makedonia the first stop is the customs I’m not sure what’s going on hey man what’s going on oh no I’m okay thank you got some see hello hey how do you see him and endearing daddy thank you ciao it’s like wow there’s like nobody here all the cars I’ve been passing I thought for sure we’d have a big sham up at the border hello yeah no let me see really doesn’t have Macedonia huh I’m gonna go to Skopje and then I go to a pop of Kula it’s a winery and then to Greece what’s happen 15 that’s crazy only two days I don’t know why they didn’t do this I told them all the countries I go to sorry is that what I have to do over here yeah I guess I go I have to go to Greece okay okay okay yeah this is yeah the plate all letters USA California okay okay where I go here are the white building okay [Music] all right I’m in Macedonia but by the looks of that full board it looks like I’m in an english-speaking country a little bit of a problem at the border as you guys have seen my insurance card the green card liability required the EU course we’re not in the EU whoops so let’s not get into an accident right and then my first day here all right well anyway that’s a little border confusion had to go 50 bucks 50 euros I kept saying 15 15 you know I asked for a discount fixed pricing world rider is going border to border through Macedonia we’re going to stay at a winery tonight I think [Music]

Severnamakedonija is true….Macedonia is Greece
that new motorway to skopje is open i have been on it to go to skopje airport to england
It's amazing how some people just love to hear themselves ramble on with their jibberish, while "traveling the world", so that they can say that they've been there and done that. I'll bet you even place little self important stickers on every public road sign along the way, don't you?
Thanks for this Allan, it brought back memories of riding the same route on that incredible highway last summer. Like you I felt €50 was high for a two day transit. Not a great strategy to encourage tourism. A pity because North Macedonia was a highlight of my Balkan tour.
Thanks also for Forks, I bought it years ago but it’s still a favourite winter read.
Looks like your Serbian buddy managed to brain wash you, although he most definitely hates everything American.
Kosovo was a dump in 2002.
