Stage 6 : Sheet to Winchester : a Thru Hiker’s cycle experience
King Alfred’s Way is a 360 km predominantly off-road cycling route that officially starts at the historic Westgate, at one end of the High Street in Winchester, and finishes at the other end, under the statue of King Alfred. Our Stage 6 was a final 61km into Winchester from Sheet. We followed the South Downs Way for a good proportion of the day, bringing back memories of my 2023 thru hike. A tough day on a bike with many ups and downs, thin paths and many hikers to navigate. It included the second puncture of the week, almost cycling to Quebec and reminiscing about my thru hike
Overnight = The Wessex Hotel, Winchester

Daily km = 61
Cumulative km : 390

That has been one of the more enjoyable KAW cycle series I have watched. What bikes were you using?
Another great trip. The skies were beautiful for you, but oh my, that heat!!
