Today I take you through Oxford United FC’s plans to build a new £150 million, 16,000 capacity stadium as they look to leave the Kasaam Stadium (yes, the one with the missing stand!).
The ‘U’s were promoted to the Championship last season via the play-offs and have managed to stay up this campaign. Now, their next task as a club is to gain planning approval to construct this new ground in Kiddlington, North Oxford.

oxford United currently play at what many call the worst stadium in the country but soon this could all be changing the Kazam Stadium opened in 2001 and is both owned by and named after the club’s previous chairman Firos Kazam the ground is often mocked by rival fans for having a missing stand behind one goal known as the car park end but that’s not Oxford’s biggest problem the issue is that their lease of the stadium runs out in 3 years and this was only after the club managed to secure an emergency short-term extension earlier this month otherwise the lease would have run out next June plans to move to a new clubowned ground have floated around for years starting in 2022 when a letter was leaked to the press which said that the club wanted to leave the Kazam Stadium initial images of these plans were released in 2023 it’s set to be called the new Oxford United Stadium although I’m sure this will change as sponsors are chosen it will hold up to 16,000 people around 35 12,000 more than the current ground and could cost upwards of 150 million pounds to build now I must say the ground itself looks lovely having a fully connected bowl-like interior which I’m sure will create a fantastic atmosphere and of course eliminates that issue of having a missing stand like there is at the Kazan the roof of the stadium will be made of glass allowing in lots of natural light and the club’s colors yellow and blue will be heavily incorporated into the design thousands of solar panels will be placed on the roof as well making the stadium the country’s first fully electric and it will feature trees and a pond outside not just giving a beautiful space for fans to gather before games but also increasing net biodiversity in the area by around 20% the building of the ground will massively boost the local economy providing a,000 jobs and generating around 32 million pounds annually through tourism this will be achieved not just through football matches being played but also via a 180 room hotel and 1,000 people capacity conference and exhibition center the ground will be located within what is known as the triangle site in Kidlington in North Oxford 10 miles from the Kazam Stadium which is in South Oxford this does mean that once again it isn’t in the city center but for a ground of this size that was always going to be difficult to achieve one positive with this location is that the site is next door to Oxford Parkway Rail Station and a foot bridge is set to be constructed to connect the station to the ground allowing for easy access for fans a planning application was submitted to Chwell District Council last year and the final decision is set to be made in the next couple of weeks the club have asked supporters to contact their local politicians to try and gain their support for the plans ahead of the decision local MPs have already expressed their support in numbers be sure to keep an eye out for the news as to whether this stadium will be built or not as if it is I think it will not only be fantastic for the club but also the local area and I’d love to visit thanks for watching see you in the next one [Music]

Are they running into any Green Belt issues with this proposal?
Great overview. Oxford has a tonne of potential as a club. This stadium could really unlock that potential. Its 35 mins from London on the train. "Oxford" is a globally recognised brand. I really think they'd be ripe for a lucrative takeover in a few years if they can establish themselves in the Championship and sort out their infrastructure. The Kassam Stadium is not just a terrible stadium, it is really difficult for travelling fans to get to/from.
Lit half the price of Man City’s new stand
Another good video and maybe you could do one about our new national league teams.
time is running sort !
Whilst I hope Oxford get this built as it looks a cracking ground, albeit it is a shame the situation has come to this for them, I do fear their timeframe. With endless bueracracy and deliberations on projects like this in this day and age, I do fear that it will take more than the next 3 years for it to be completed and ready to open, so much so that if it's completed prior to 2030 that's an achievement in undertaking.
16,000? You’re having a laugh!
Wow will it have 4 sides incredible lol
A new “tinpot style” stadium for Oxford United. 😂
Surprised they didn't go for a 20,000 capacity stadium. Shows lack of ambition.
Harus nya pak Erik Thohir lebih berani menunjuk pelatih yang berkualitas untuk Oxford biar Oxford bisa masuk ke premier league
Just build it! There is plenty of potential to extend the capacity later. It will be connected to many parts of the country by rail, especially with the first part of East-West rail opening later this year.
Please come to borehamwood fc next season! A stadium tour would be cool as never done before on youtube or a matchday vlogs
Away fans remember our stadium compared to the same old boring stadiums every other club has. Northampton's stadium by the way is a I kid you not a BUILDING SITE HALF OF IT IS MISSING
also to add on to this we will only have 3 years on the lease only if the planning application goes through without that it will be 2 years left and then the club will go out of business
