Marostica, Italy
“Marostica (Italian pronunciation: [maˈrɔstika]; Venetian: Maròstega [maˈɾɔsteɡa]), is a town and comune in the province of Vicenza, Veneto, northern Italy. It is mostly famous for its live chess event and for the local cherry variety.” – https://wikipedia.org
North of Marostica, foothills and steep climbs galore for the cyclist desiring to challenge themselves. South of Marostica, abundant flat roads and farmlands. In this video, JOM of the Gravel Cyclist rides a course his own design that traverses quiet farmland paved roads, gravel tracks and paths. This was the perfect ride after flying into Italy a day earlier.

Good day trends setters. Today I’m coming to you from Marostica Italy which is headquarters to Apertina Bilin. A very long storied and quite well-known bike brand and it happens to be a bicycle I’m riding today. This is the Afacina Batalin Matera. A review might be posted by the time this video appears. does. If you’re interested in seeing what happens inside this building here, I have a factory tour video. It’s linked in the description below. Today, I’ve got a lovely ride that’s heading out of Morostica. Ultimately, I’ll be riding through the towns of Citadela and Basano Delg Graa and back here to the start. Let’s get cracking. There’s a reasonable amount of gravel on today’s ride. This is a route of my own design. I don’t know if you can make it out. That is the castle that sits above the town of Morostica. This town is really worth visiting. Absolutely beautiful, especially the town square. If you’re interested in seeing how I create my routes, I have a video explaining the process. It’s linked in the description below. Some folks might be wondering where is LGC, aka Lady Gravel Cyclist. Unfortunately, she could not attend this trip, so I’m solo this time around. But you’ll be seeing her soon enough. There is another view of the castle. Hopefully, you can see it. It’s just on the edge of this shot. And here is the first gravel road of today. Absolutely love these quiet farm roads and riding pavement. But it’s narrow, it’s winding, beautiful scenery, and it’s flat, which is just what I need today because tomorrow I’m riding granuro Italia. And after this video or this ride, I’ve got about a 5h hour vehicle journey towards Sienna, basically Tuskanyany. It’s going to be amazing. Can’t wait. A sweet gravel track parallel to this highway. There are unsealed roads about the place. You just have to look carefully. or like I do spend a bunch of time screwing around on the satellite maps, Google Street View. This entire area is on Google Street View. It’s quite simple to plan a route. You just need to have a bit of patience and time. Oh, here we are. Welcome to Novea. left turn to the next gravel road here. I freely admit I rode part of this course yesterday mostly in the interest of shooting some drone video of the review bike the officin matera. So I was able to vet some of this but there was no deviations. Pretty sweet course. Hopefully the remainder of the course is just as fantastic. Now this is a sweet little road. yeah. So much amazing riding around here. I’m just riding the flat lands south of Morostica, etc. But you can see the foothills there. Undoubtedly challenging climbing. This part of the route is uncharted territory. Uh-oh, about to get wet here. Let’s wait a second. Don’t want to get dowsted in bloody poo water. Hello. What’s this? Oh, he’s only gone and found himself another bloody sweet gravel road. Nice little gravel track there that runs parallel to the river. I thought this track was familiar. I’ve ridden this particular track a couple of years ago out of Basano the Grapper. I’ve got a mate who runs a bike shop not too far away. Max Scalleti if you’re watching. Good day mate. He’s got a grassroots event he runs every year. I rode the short course. It was a ton of fun. I’ll link it in the description below. On the left side is the world headquarters for elite very famous cycling brand. They produce bottle cages and other accessories. If I had time, I would conduct a factory tour. I’m very close to the beautiful historic city of Citadela. It would appear there is a train coming through here. Freight train. Electric freight train, no less. Getting closer to Citadela. Walking on history. Citadela. It’s a little bit trafficy here, so to speak. Glad there’s a segregated bike path. Welcome to Citadel Americano GMC Denali. That’s a big ass truck to see over here. Anybody who’s driven Italy knows some of these streets are pretty tight. It’s not often you have a mixed surface ride taking a beautiful historic citadel. How amazing is this? Okay. Now, I’ve been here before and I will link the video where I rode through Citadel in the past because I show more of the city etc. in that particular video. How nice is this view transitters? Harder than the motor vehicle. On the wall over there is an advertisement for the Bonito Trail, an unsupported bike adventure. Starting on 20th of June, 2025, 500 km and 10,000 m of vertical climbing. I love getting around these little back roads, back streets. So much fun in on the bicycle. If I wasn’t on such a time crunch, I would stop at Audi. This tree canopy is a marvelous break from the heat, but my ride is just about over. I have about 10 km left to ride. There you bugger. Oh yeah. Wants to kill me. Welcome to Basano del Grapa. We’re almost back to the start in Morostica. Welcome back into Morostica where I started my ride at the factory of Aatina Batalin which basically means workshop Batalin. Oh my god, the weather’s stunning today. Very warm but not a cloud in the sky. Oh, there’s some lovely Porsches in that showroom. Here we are back at the start of Facina Batlin. Train setters. I forgot to close off the video earlier. So now you get to see me doing that as I drive towards There’s a mobile speed camera reported ahead. Rot Roll. There’s a mobile speed camera reported ahead. as I drive towards the host town of Gruro, Italia. All right, enough of that clap trap. As always, thank you for watching. If you haven’t already, please consider subscribing to the Gravel Cycles YouTube channel for um interesting ride experience videos such as this one. No gravel bike reviews, other product reviews, and of course, general madness. Well, thus far this driver is general madness as all of it is released to the channel. I’ll see you in the next video. It’s pandemonium here. Blood dear hell, mate. Overtaking the panda the fear as he does a left turn. Let’s keep going here.

Grazie JOM! Wonderful content, as usual. Since you are are in Europe, try to yell at dogs in the native language.
Very nice
Sometimes a man needs to run solo. No harm in doing “me”. Plus Ladies can wait, I say.👍🏻😅🤓
