A failed attempt to bike from Boston (Somerville) to Saint Albans, VT. But just because i failed doesn’t mean I didn’t have an amazing time.
[Music] All right, there she is in all her glory. Is she overpacked? probably. But I’m bringing everything that I want, not everything I need. And uh yeah, this is going to be a bike glamping trip, not camping. Welcome to my trip. Liz thinks I’m crazy, but that’s all right. You’ll see me in a little bit. The support vehicle driver. All right, here we go. Bye. See you later, babe. Be safe. Really great. Got to do one quick thing before I leave Boston. All right, now we’re ready to go. All right, so now that I’m officially underway, let me tell you what’s going on. I’m leaving Somerville, Massachusetts right now, just north of Boston. I packed up a bike and I’m making it to the Minute Man Trail right now. And the plan is to go to Vermont. There’s already traffic on the bike trail. All right, so we got about 275 miles ahead of us. Uh we’re starting at around uh just 5 before 8:00 in the morning. It’s supposed to be 90° today. It’s going to be a scorcher, but it’s overcast. You can see that it’s kind of cloudy above me. Yeah. Haven’t done anything like this before. We’ll see what it’s like. And uh for the first part, I’m going to try to remember to film cuz I’ve obviously biked around here a lot before, but uh there’s a lot of stuff going on in the first leg of this trail. Uh we’re going through a lot of cities and going through all that stuff is going to be really fun. I need to remember to film. Anyways, let’s try to relax. See what the road takes us to. Turn left onto College Avenue, then turn right onto Davis Square. Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] All right. In 1,00 ft, slight left to stay on Minute Manuter Bike Way. Man computer bike way. Did I say computer or commuter? I’m not sure. [Music] Spy Pond Park. [Music] We’re finally getting to a place on the Minute Man Trail where there’s less people. It’s been busy for a really long time. And this is my favorite part of the trail. You can see there’s like just one person that just passed me. There’s a bike like way up ahead in the distance. And we’re like 8 miles into our trip right now. It’s kind of crazy that there’s still this many people around. But I mean, we’re still not to Lexington yet. We’ll get there eventually. We’re going about like 17 m an hour right now. We were averaging about like 10 downtown. So, finally picking up some pace. But honestly, you could tell coming from a port city that there’s just a constant small incline. And uh just presume that’s just going to get a lot worse today. Oh yeah, doing some face tracking on the camera. How cool is that? Oh, yeah. When I lean, do you see? All right. There’s a lot of technology that I haven’t tried yet, and I’ve kind of been waiting until uh I was going to do this bike trip to try it out. So, I have a uh DJI Osmo 3 that’s filming right now. And I also brought a uh a drone with me. Not sure when I’ll pop pop that out, but it’s probably going to be in a less populated area. [Music] All right, here we are. Lexington Center. I think we’re going to stop here for a second. Check the gear. Why is it going? There we go. And uh yeah, I mean this is the longest that I’ve ever Turn left for Depot Square and turn left. Okay, robot. This is the longest that I’ve ever uh biked with like all the gear on my bike. So, I feel like it’s a good time to just stop, check everything. depot square and then the depot square continue going. I’m going try to make things a little bit quieter, too. Like uh the tent spikes are just like making noise every time I get a bump. And I could probably fix that. So, here we are. Lexington Center. Let’s go. All right. Back on the trail again. And it’s beautiful. Going to share some skin. Crossing the highway. Definitely out of town now. We’re going to keep going. It is beautiful at the end of this trail that’s just all covered by forest. It’s perfect. [Applause] [Music] Turn right onto South Road, then turn right onto Lumis Street. Made it to the end of the Minaman Bike Way, the Bedford Rail Trail. This is basically the uh the farthest I’ve gone. Uh, and it’s also kind of nuts to think that uh we’re 13.2 miles uh into our trip and I haven’t really biked on a uh road yet. It’s awesome. A depot park with Bedford. There we go. Um from here it’s just going to be a a gravel trail. Turn left onto Narrow Gauge Rail Trail. Hopefully uh the rail trails going to be nice. Everything’s been shaded so far, which has been fantastic, but I can feel it heating up. And uh I’m going to kind of miss the pavement. So, let’s go over here. Let’s see how it goes. Continue on narrow gauge rail trail for 3 miles. Narrow gauge rail is true. I think it only goes to the end here. All right. So, it is paved for a little bit. I thought it was going to be gravel. Learn something new every day. Let’s see how far it’s paved, though. Guess I haven’t shown you my uh my setup yet, though. Pretty simple. Got uh the phone here. It’s got GPS on it. Got the usual ebike meter, Bluetooth. Still got my uh my Boston diuretic. Simple. Listen to music and let’s bike. Oh man, it turned into gravel in no time. I think that was maybe like a tenth of a mile. All right, that’s fine. It’s getting real now. [Music] I was just going to pull out my camera to be like, “Hey, look. This foresty area looks uh pretty cool now.” And uh we’re getting more in the middle of nowhere, but like not really. I just passed a fire hydrant on the middle of this trail. So, uh still pretty safe. Uh, let’s see. How what am I averaging? I’m averaging like 13 15 miles an hour still, which like I think is like pretty awesome considering on a dirt trail. I don’t know, dude. This is just [ __ ] awesome. Love it. I’m going to keep doing this for a while for sure. Oh, wait. There we go. See? Huge freaking house just like right through those trees right there. It seems uh yeah, we’re not in the middle of nowhere yet. [Music] There’s a little sandy here. That’s interesting. Woohoo. Still cool. Oh, first big obstacle, guys. Big route. And we crushed it. Yeah. All right. Mile 16. Getting on to Conquered Road. Now we’re actually on the road for a while. Continue on Conquered Road for 2 miles. Oh, just two miles. Easy. That’s good with me. Let’s do it. [Music] [Music] All right, the town of Vil Rick. Turn left onto Massachusetts 38. Time to go around the little town center. Continue for six miles. Woo! Look at this, guys. It’s a downhill slope. Oh, yeah. It feels good. If it was only all like this, it would be great. up. Turn my sound up. [Applause] Oh, look at that. Getting a low. There we go. [Music] Hey [Music] oh. [Music] Oh. [Music] Oh. Oh. [Music] [Music] Oh. And here we go. That’s what I’m looking for. [Music] Oh, look at this. Oh, yeah. Welcome to New Hampshire. Well, we got to stop here. Perfect. Also, battery check. Let’s see what we got here. All right, we got um Woo. Oh, can you even see? Uh 29.8 miles. Half a battery. Half a battery after 30 miles. That’s actually not bad at all. Sweet. Uh what else do we got here? We got the welcome to New Hampshire sign. [Music] You know, another thing that just occurred to me is that this is the first state line that I’ve crossed on a bike. I think that’s pretty cool. It’s a milestone. The milestone of going past the Minute Man Trail seems uh pretty insignificant compared to this one. So, uh, I’m liking it. Let’s go. I’m tired. [Music] [Applause] All right. What’s this intersection here? Got to take a right to go somewhere. This is 111. At the light, turn right onto New Hampshire 111 East. New Hampshire 111 East. All right. Sure. Looking a little busy, but then I think we take a left onto a side road real quick here. All [Music] right, this isn’t bad. It was like 100 yards before we need to take a left off this road. that we’re back on a calmer road. Let’s see how far we’re on this one for. It’s getting a little warmer. I Let’s see. It’s 11:00. We’re at 38 miles, so we’re probably almost halfway. Might want to stop, grab something to eat before we head on the second half of this journey. So far, loving it. Kingdom Junction. This is just a little bit before the rail trail that I’m going to jump on. I just stop, set up some water, maybe get a granola bar or something and continue on. [Music] All right, took a little break. Was well needed. Got a little BLT from that shop. Talked to a couple of people who saw my bike and knew that I was doing something long. Apparently, there’s another guy that’s biking up and down uh the New Hampshire line. So, I don’t know. I guess I got to find him. See what he’s doing. So, I feel like I’m doing almost the exact same thing just through Vermont instead. All right. Here we go. This is a trail that I’m slight on Dair Rail Trail. [Applause] Nice. Continue on Dair Rail Trail for 3 miles. Here we go. Dair Rail Trail. Let’s get going. All right. So, the Daily or what? Dair Rail Trail. It’s pretty nice. and paved. Oh, this is this is the good life right here. I thought it was just going to be more gravel, but I got some more time. Looks like I’m down to my last bar of battery uh after my after my lunch. So, might have to change in the next maybe like 10 miles or so. I guess we’ll see. But if I’m only on battery two of three, that means I got a lot of leftover battery. I think that’s good. I have no idea what day two is going to look like cuz I think it’s going to be a lot more higher elevation change. But I don’t know. I’m liking my odds. It’s pretty good so far. I’m nice and recharged. My legs don’t feel like jelly quite so much anymore. And let’s keep going. Oh man, it’s so good out here. Look at this. [Music] Like, if it’s going to be like this all the way up there, this is fantastic. [Music] [Music] Tell you what. [Music] All right, little update is uh there’s construction going on on a part of the uh the Dair Rail Trail and there’s no way to get through. So, like I saw a couple bike uh like trails or like you know in the mud in order to get around the uh construction. I decided not to do that cuz I didn’t know what was over there. So, I’m going to try to find a way around, but there’s just like no signs or anything despite the fact that there are people trying to use the rail trail. So, this is going to be fun. And I’m going to be on really busy streets, I think, for a little bit until I can find the next place that the rail trail crosses the road. Let’s see how that goes. All right. Where is this rail trail? Oh, wait. I think I see it up ahead. Yes. Slight right onto Granite State Rail Trail. Londereerry Rail Trail. Here we go. Oh yeah. Thank god this came up. Now I take a rest. Continue for 1 and 1/2 miles. So my battery was dying. It’s pretty much dead right now. But I didn’t want to stop on the middle of that busy street. So I was just like, “All right, let’s just hoof it with no battery.” And it’s finally a good space to stop. Uh, tons of electrical lines, which is really interesting. But at least I could take a little pit stop here, exchange batteries, and then uh go on with my day. Weird little uh uh sidetrack that uh I didn’t think I’d have to do, but I guess it can’t be unexpect or it can’t be expected. All right, let’s pull over. Change a battery real quick. Nice. All right, so I don’t know how how much this is going to track the case. I think it’s tracking it pretty well, actually. All right, off with one battery. Oh, yeah. There we go. And then it’s underneath my bag up in the front. [Music] Oh, hey. Drop in number two. Uh, see locked. [Music] Turn it on. full batteries. We’re never missing a thing. [Music] It’s time to get after it again. Yep. Let’s go. [Music] I don’t know what highway you’re going on here. That’s pretty cool. [Music] Guys, I had to stop. And I think you know why I can’t turn down stopping at a brewery. Are you kidding me? Here we go. Getting a beer. That’s gonna be refreshing. And it’s got a nice patio. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] road for four miles. All right, so for better or for worse, I stopped for a beer and holy cow did it feel good. Uh, so let’s see. It’s 10 after 1 right now. I’m about 50 mi into the bike ride. I think I got about 30 more miles to go until I get to the campsite. This says I’ll be there by 4:30, which sounds uh actually pretty good. Um I’m on this road for a little bit until I get to I think like another rail trail. And yeah, I think it’s time to put in it’s time to put in some miles. But I’m ready. Let’s do it. All right. I don’t know where I am now, but it is it’s like 2:20 and man, I’m just trying to go up these hills and it is killing me. This like the incline. I’m just down in first gear praying that I get up. Definitely dehydrated and I’m getting cramps. I was like, “Oh no.” Feeling really old right now and I have no idea when the uphill is going to end. This is Oh man, this is brutal. All right, checking in. Oh man, what time is it? It’s 3:30. It is so freaking hot. And uh I’ve just been I think I almost died. I’ve been coming up this hill and uh I was just dying. I think I I may have done like one video about it earlier where I was just like I can’t can’t talk but like every time I see like a little bit of flat area there’s just like another hill and I turned my pedal assist like all the way up to five. I could barely get up and I had I just had to like pass out. So, I’m at uh Wilson Meadow Road right now. I’m I hear that I’m like at the top. Like there’s just like a little bit farther to go and then it’s like all downhill from here. But like I couldn’t make it anymore. So like I I found this like sweet tree right next to the road between a tree and a phone pole. I was like, “Oh, I’ll be safe right here.” And I just like passed out. I wake up and there’s this like guy over at this house over here. His name’s John, and I think he just saved my life. He gave me more water. I uh went into his house, which was air conditioned, and it felt amazing. But my uh my legs are spent. I uh I think I need to take a nap. Uh told this guy, I was like, “If you see me still out here, I’m just still resting. I’m not dead yet.” Uh nicest guy in the world. Thank God for giving me uh some cool water. And uh oh man, I hope I hope hope next that the like ne last hour or so is downhill cuz my my legs are just mashed potatoes at this point. I was I was I was definitely secondg guessing this trip for a little bit going up the hill. I like tried to get off and like walk my bike for a little bit and I was like my bike’s way too freaking heavy to walk because I piled it up with so much [ __ ] So, I’m just staying on it and getting some uh got some cramping. Hating life. Now everything’s uh it’s looking a little bit better. Temperature hopefully will go down in a little bit even though there’s a heat warning. I got some nice shade. So, uh yeah. I’m just going to take a nap. I’ll see you guys later. All right. So, I just wanted to show you guys. We’re about to get going again. There’s like clearly a hill and a crust up there. And I saw that and I was like, “Oh no, that’s another false hill.” And it’s going to kill every every bit of my soul. This was the little bit up here that I was like, if I go over this hill and there’s another one behind it, I don’t know if I have enough will to keep going. So, that’s why I stopped before it so I could gather everything together and then deal with the depression of seeing another hill after this. But John, my buddy, said that it’s actually downhill after this. And I am so happy. But let’s see. Oh, look at that truck sign all downhill. Oh, thank God. I stopped right before the top. All right, I’m in much better spirits now. I took a little nap. Oh my god, it’s beautiful, too. All right, let’s go. Woo! Oh, I can’t tell you how good it feels to just coast for a little bit. Oh, it’s so great. Oh my god. Uh, it feels amazing. All right, crisis averted. We’re now on a much less busy road and it’s downhill slash flat. Yay. I can’t tell you how good that feels. And it’s shady going up that hill. Uh previously uh it was just all uh going north. So I was on the east side and there was no uh no shade at all. So it’s just like getting scorching hot. And now I get a little bit of shade every once in a while. We got Let’s see. I don’t know if you can see that. Got an hour and a half to uh camp tonight. Spirits are lifted. [Music] I don’t know if you can see it up there. There. Oh, there is a deer. Oh, too bad. We’re seeing wildlife. Fantastic. See that big air down the road? Yeah. Looking pretty nice for the boat. Yeah, I know. He was just standing there, wasn’t he? All right. In 150 ft, turn left. Here we go. Bike route. No other motor vehicles. What is this? This doesn’t Oh, it’s paved. All right, I can do this. Oh, man. Continue for one mile. Looks fantastic. Everything’s looking up now. Everything’s looking up. [Music] This is what I want to ride my bike for. Oh man. Yeah, you’re next to the highway. I get it. You can hear the cars, but this I I mean, you can’t feel it. The cool air is so nice. It smells amazing. It feels like it’s just hidden away. And I think this trail is going to take me to my campground. Oh, it’s perfect. It’s perfect. It’s a forest bike ride. [Music] Oh man, just replaced the battery. I’m on my third one. So, so happy that uh I brought three because man, that was just the hill was crazy. Um I I’m so glad that I got one. I think it’s going to be a lot easier for us away. I think I only have like 10 miles left. I’m going to make some more liquid IV for myself and have a nice little cruise in because well, I deserve it. Route one or I guess like step one, stage one is coming to a close. Oh my god, I can’t believe I did it. This is nuts. I think it’s on the right up here. Oh my god, I can’t wait. Can’t wait to stop. But then I need to put my time. Oh, that sucks. All right, let’s find out where this place is. Ah, Cozy Pond Camping Resort. Got it. Yes. Oh, man. Best ever. Oh my god. I can’t wait. All right. Hope this place is open. Oh, wait. Late arrival instructions. Perfect. All right. All right. Or site A26, wherever that is. [Applause] Guys, I made it. 826. [Music] Oh man. Now I got to undo a tent. Set it up. Ah. [Music] All right, I have the tiniest bit of energy now after a very cold shower and figure I’d just share with you what I did. I I was so tired setting this thing up that uh I I was just like throwing stuff down uh as fast as I could before I passed out cuz I was like if I wait any longer uh maybe nothing will get set up. So uh let’s see. Uh running electric from outside in. There’s the bike garage looking fantastic. I just took all the uh the batteries out. threw them down, connected them real quick. All the red lights mean that we’re charging. And then I got a little table here and my chair set up. It’s fantastic. Hopefully I’ll eat something later. And then here’s my sleep system mattress and sleeping bag. Uh it was too hot or I was too hot and miserable to lay on my sleeping bag at first. So, uh I was just laying directly on the mattress. And this is actually a uh a carpet that I brought with me because yeah, I wanted to be fancy about my camping space. Uh I was definitely regretting it when I was going up the hills, but uh it’s pretty good uh camping setup, I think. And I can also stand up, right? Like come on. I’m 6’3 and I’m standing up in my tent. It just feels so good. Um, but yeah, right now I think I’m just gonna pass out and then maybe like eat in a little bit if I wake up, but it’s like it’s already 7:30 and I’m just drinking as much water as I can stand because I’m just like so dehydrated. So yeah, maybe uh little bit of something tonight to eat and then maybe like some breakfast tomorrow, as much as I can eat before I’m out of here. But yeah, that’s it. I’m feeling much better. That was a brutal, brutal day. And I uh I I can’t believe I made it honestly if it wasn’t for that guy that I met uh at the top of that hill after like an hour of the lowest gear with the pedal assist all the way up and standing pedaling for like 45 minutes to an hour. If that guy didn’t like come out and talk to me, uh I don’t know what I would have done. like the uh yeah, the human interaction that he helped me with. I don’t know. It calmed me down and I was able to make it here. So, all right guys, uh I guess good night. Took a little nap and I’m finally feeling a little bit hungry and I feel like it’s a good time to cook some dinner. So, that’s what we’ll do. We’re just going to do a simple thing on the Jet Boil. We got some MountainHouse right here. What is this? Yellow curry with chicken and rice. I don’t know. I hear it’s good. Let’s try it out. Oh boy. It’s finally It is good to finally have an appetite again. That’s for sure. Let’s uh let’s put this together. Cook some food. All right. That was my first time using a Jet Boil. And uh that thing is legit. So, all right. So, going pour this in here. And then it says to wait for a little bit. Add 12 oz. Carefully reseal. Wait 5 minutes. All right, let’s go. All right, I’m improving my lighting setup a little bit here. Um, I think that this is now about 5 minutes. Feels like a brick. Oh, it is stewed up on. Let’s see. How can I turn it down here? Looks good. I don’t know if I put too much water in it, though, honestly. Maybe that I mean obviously that’s like my fault. Look at this. So, let’s see how it tastes. Oh man, this is hot as hell. I think I need to let it stand for a little bit. [Music] Man, I’m going to eat all of this. This is real good. And it smells amazing. [Music] I got some breakfast too tomorrow. Same from Mountain House. [Music] Feel like I sound like a YouTuber now doing reviews. But yeah, whatever. It’s great. I’m going to eat it. We’ll see you tomorrow. Good morning. It’s about uh what is it? 5:15 in the morning and I feel like it’s time to wake up, eat some uh breakfast. probably just get on with our day. It’s It’s beautiful outside. And uh Oh my god, it feels so nice and cool. Uh makes sense to get started early in the day because I don’t want to get stuck climbing a mountain again when it’s the hottest part of the day. So, let’s uh make some breakfast first. Heat. Heat. [Music] It’s like eggs and peppers and onions. [Music] All right, those things packed up. Got green lights across the board on that huge tangle of batteries and cables. Time to get this guy out of the garage. [Music] All right, just like that, I’m off. [Music] Where are we going this time? We are going to turn left for New Hampshire 127 North. Then turn left onto New Hampshire 127 North. Man, that’s loud. All right, going to another campground. I think it’s about 7 hours away. Turn left onto New Hampshire 127 North and it’s in Haveril. I think that’s how you call it. Um, yeah. Day two. [Music] [Music] [Music] Wait, what’s that up ahead? Oh, more hills. No. Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] So, something that I kind of noticed that I’m doing this time around today is I am gliding a lot. like anytime that I have the ability to move forward without expending energy, I’m going to take it. And I think it’s half because I’m worried about my battery and the amount of hills I need to climb. It’s also my my own energy. Like, why am I spending so much energy on something where it’s going to get me, you know, to the bottom of the hill anyways? Or, you know, if I’m flat, I should just be gliding more. Um, so I think I’m going to do that a lot more. And as long as I get to my end, uh, you know, my destination for the day, my checkpoint, why why wouldn’t I take it slower? You know, it’s, uh, 80 mi. I’m going 10 m hour. It’s going to be 8 hours. And I can definitely do that. There’s more than 8 hours in the day. So, I’m not going to push myself like I did last time. Just going to enjoy myself a little bit more. Probably take more breaks. Enjoy. Enjoy more. All right, this is what I was hoping for, guys. Turn left onto Northern Rail Trail. The Northern Rail Trail. Been waiting to hit this trail for a while. This is going to take us a fairly long way. And uh I might just stay here and rest for a little bit. Get a drink. Continue on Northern Rail Trail for 10 miles. 10 miles. Oh man. All right. Well, first of all, this looks fantastic. Second of all, time to get a drink of water. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] I don’t know if you can notice the trees maybe right there. is that all the rails for this uh train line are just discarded on the side of the trail. I mean, I don’t know what you would have done with it otherwise, but it makes sense that all those train tracks are still here except for the iron. Oh no, this trail is amazing. It is just absolutely beautiful. [Music] Pizza chef. [Music] All right, quick pit stop on the Northern Rail Trail. Why? Covered bridge alert. Woo! Yeah, that’s how you know you’re in New England. Am I too excited for this? No. [Music] [Music] Yeah. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat up here. [Music] Heat. [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Heat. [Music] [Music] All right. Second stop of the day, the Danberry General Store, who graciously had a sign that said it was coming up in a mile, and that’s exactly what I needed. So just up here got something to drink or something. Nothing’s working today. All right, changing out battery. We uh only went about like 30 miles, but uh that rail trail is just like consistently uphill. So, already burned through battery. Oh, man. Good thing I got three of them. Uh, also I went into the general store, packed up on uh granola bars and water. I think we’ll be set for the foreseeable future. I might just hang out here, eat one of those granola bars real quick, and then get on my way. But I mean, they also mentioned that uh a storm passed through last night, and I do remember waking up and hearing hearing a lot of rain, but uh I just went back to sleep, so I must have uh really needed to sleep. They said that the their credit card machine got um hit and it was down. And somebody’s asked was asking about if 104 was even open, which I don’t know what happened last night. I guess there I mean there were thunderstorms um there was a thunderstorm warning from Maine and I guess it would have had to come through here to uh to go to Maine, but I thought it was going to go to the north. Apparently it was uh pretty much right here. Good thing uh I didn’t notice uh and it didn’t affect me too much. All right, take a break for a little bit, have some water, have a granola bar, get back on the trail. [Music] Well, I guess here’s a good example of uh the storm because this all looks pretty fresh. Guess I’ll need to get off and walk it around so I am not an idiot and fall over while passing. [Music] Woo. What’s funny is that it’s uh it’s pretty windy uh when you get off the trail. There’s definitely a cold front overhead, but uh on this trail it’s pretty protected, so it feels just fine. [Music] All right, continue on. All right, my uh 10 mile break basically and I uh found a pretty good spot to hang out in. We got this. [Music] Now, if it wasn’t already chilly, probably be jumping in this guy. But, uh, I think it’s just going to be a cool hangout spot right now. Woo. All right, take a break and recharge. All right. Might have had a huge problem. I think the spoke on the rear wheel has basically uh popped and it’s getting stuck and I don’t know how to fix it. I take a look at it real quick. Get all the weight off the back of the bike. Take a look at the wheel. See what’s going on. Okay. So, I think I found my problem. Not really sure how I’m going to fix it. Uh here, cuz I’m pretty sure my wheel is shot. Uh let’s see. So, all of these spokes right here and this one on the middle are just out and just I mean just ripped up so bad. And that doesn’t look good either. This wheel is basically clasped and sheared off sideways or something. I think I need to find a bike shop and I don’t know where there is one anywhere soon. Oh god, this is going to suck. All right, so it we definitely need a new wheel. I think uh I’m going to try to I guess bind those broken spokes somehow. Put everything back on and then it’s like an hour to this bike shop and let’s see what happens. Woo. Uh not sure how to put them all together. Maybe I’ll use some Velcro straps. [Music] is prevents from [ __ ] up the rest of the flight. All right, that’s my janky ass fix for right now to make sure that the spokes at least don’t get in the way of anything. and then see if I can bike on that for an hour. All right, to the bike shop. Back on the road. I just need to pretend like I don’t have five spokes in my wheel, not even connected to the to the inner or outer hub. So, and it’s getting windy as hell. All right, next hour and a half is going to be fun and interesting. Well, I think I have had it. Uh, I was riding again on the trail after tying those spokes together and, uh, it was obviously going to be a problem where you just don’t know how long the wheel’s going to last. And it lasted all of like, I don’t know, 5 minutes before like 2, three, four more came off. And this time, one of them hit the rear derailer when it came off and just bent the complete crap out of it. So, I’m walking to a gas station. I called the bike shop. I’m 14 miles away and they think one of the mechanics may be able to come out and pick me up. But oh man, this sucks so bad. Like, I can barely push this thing. It’s It’s [ __ ] up so bad. All right. Well, go to this gas station and then we’ll just wait for a call. All right. Well, I got it here at the shop, but I don’t know if they will be able to fix it. There’s just too much wrong with it, I think. Um, well, it’s really just replacing the wheel. And I have some pretty bad derailer problems right there. Um, but yeah, it’s just I think you need to just completely fix the wheel or replace it. Sorry. because spokes have just been ripped right outside of the wheel well right there. You can see it now. When I tried to keep riding it, that’s when that’s when it just got worse. [Music]
