Diese Rundtour führt Dich mitten hinein in eines der schönsten Gebiete Deutschlands: Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Zwischen imposanten Bergen, glasklaren Seen und spektakulären Schluchten wie der Partnachklamm entdeckst Du mit uns die Highlights dieser Region – auf dem Fahrrad, mit leichtem Bikepacking-Gepäck, und gefilmt in besonderem 360°-Look mit der Insta360 X5.

Startpunkt unserer 55 km langen Radtour ist der Hauptbahnhof Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Von hier aus geht es zunächst flach und entspannt entlang des Flusses Loisach in Richtung Farchant. Schon auf den ersten Kilometern eröffnet sich das gewaltige Panorama des Wettersteingebirges mit Zugspitze und Waxenstein. In der Ferne erkennen wir auch die legendäre Kandahar-Abfahrt im Skigebiet Garmisch Classic – eine der berühmtesten Rennpisten Deutschlands und Teil der Weltcupstrecke.

Nach dem ersten Abschnitt führt uns der Weg weiter in Richtung Skistadion und zur weltbekannten Großen Olympiaschanze, bekannt durch die Vierschanzentournee. Kurz darauf erreichen wir zu Fuß ein echtes Naturwunder: die Partnachklamm – eine enge, dunkle Schlucht, in der das Wasser donnernd durch die Felsen rauscht. Kühl, spektakulär und eindrucksvoll. Wieder zurück auf dem Bike geht’s bergauf, vorbei am idyllischen Riessersee, über verwunschene Forstwege in Richtung Eibsee. Die letzten Kilometer sind fordernd, aber lohnenswert: Oben angekommen erwartet uns einer der schönsten Seen der Alpen, türkisblau und direkt unterhalb der mächtigen Nordwand der Zugspitze.

Auf der gesamten Strecke treffen wir auf das, was den Urlaub in Oberbayern so besonders macht: naturbelassene Radwege, urige Almen, frische Luft und überall das Gefühl, mitten in den Alpen zu sein. Die Region rund um Garmisch-Partenkirchen eignet sich nicht nur perfekt für Radtouren, sondern auch für Wanderungen, Camping, alpine Abenteuer oder natürlich im Winter zum Skifahren und Tourengehen – zum Beispiel durchs Höllental, am Kreuzeck oder bei der Zugspitze.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the part to Klamm and Lake Alsee. This bike tour combines several highlights here in southern Germany and I am delighted to be able to take you with me today to this special mountain scenery. We are also testing out a new camera, the Insta 360 X5. You can see all of it in this video. Let’s get steep. Yes, and with that, we would like to extend a warm welcome to you again here in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. We have just arrived at the train station and now it is midday mood here in the pedestrian zone of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. We start today’s tour from here near Marinenplatz. 50 km in total and 600 m of elevation gain with several highlights, as we have already mentioned, but first we will fortify ourselves here. It’s time to have a coffee and a bite to eat, then we will start pedaling and fill up our water on this hot day before we set off. Look at this house right in the middle of it all, the garden, the church, it is really idyllic. After a few minutes we leave the famous winter sports resort, which was also the host city of the 1936 Olympic Games and was forcibly merged for this reason. That’s a stark history. As a result, Garamisch and Patenkirchen still have their own town centers and pedestrian zones to this day. We were just in Garmisch and will be in Patenkirchen later. We’re currently driving along the Leusach river towards Fach and are surrounded by various mountains, the Wetterstein, Ammer, and Ester ranges, and we also have a view of the Zugspitze, Germany’s highest mountain, which we’ll get closer to today. But first we’re going along the river on this beautiful gravel route. Once you arrive in the small Luftcoort Fachhand, take a look at how this place is situated with a direct view of the Zugspitze and Alpsitz. Simply idyllic. There are a few places to stop and rest, for example here on the town hall square. And if you have a bit more time, the path towards the Kuhflucht waterfalls could also be interesting. We can’t make that today. We’re now heading towards the Partnach Gorge. That too is spectacular and there’s plenty of water, let’s go. Off to the pasture. Greetings to you. Now we’re coming to the historic centre of Paten Kirchen and driving through Ludwigstrasse, which makes this area very special. This is the house art, specifically the Lüftelmalerei, which we see on some of the buildings. So let’s take a quick look and then fold it down towards the park. And now we’re passing the old lady here. The nickname of this ski jump, Olympic ski jump. The Millennium jump by Diet Thoma in 1999, Eddie the Eagle. So many stories. I always find it exciting, and the ski jump plays a particularly big role in the Verschanzentouree (jumping hill tournament), and we take a quick look at it as we ride past. It really has Olympic energy. With a view of the Wetterstein Wall, we roll to the entrance of the gorge. And now it’s time for us to park our bikes and walk into the gorge. If you’re here and looking for a bit of a challenge, you can check it out, because it’s definitely a candidate for the steepest road in Germany. I remember when Basti and I rode our interpretation of the Konigsseeweg (Lake Constance Königseeweg) together, we ended up on a section like that. I’ll link the videos up here for you. Very worth seeing in my opinion. But first, let’s park and take a look at the gorge from the inside. They take €10 from the live ones. But come on, it’s no use. Two golden tickets. It’s nice to cool off here. We are in the middle of this almost 700 m long and up to 80 m deep gorge of the Papnachklammen, which has been open to tourism since 1912 and is particularly geologically very special. With its rocks, with the water, which in summer emerald green and in winter the whole place is a real ice backdrop. What’s also special are the moss-covered rocks above and the view upwards, where individual trees are standing or even falling down. And here we are testing A very nice experience about halfway through today’s tour. Now we’re back in the sun. The heat is coming straight away and our bikes are still there too. Lucky. Lucky. Lucky. Yay. Bye. Off we go to the Albse. And now look at this panorama we’re taking. We’re riding straight towards the Wachsenstein. We can still see parts of the Jubiläumsgrad. One of the most famous and popular high-alpine climbing ridges in the Eastern Alps. And here we see the Kanderha, one of the most spectacular ski areas in Germany. A video about it will be online next winter sports season. And to capture the whole thing clearly for you, we’ve No mercy for the calves. Quote Linus. Now comes another steep ramp. End of quote. So now we go really up again towards Lake Alpsee. Huh. Steep one. And there we have it. On the left you can see the Zugspitze. Up there it is the highest point in Germany and the special cable car that we also rode in winter. You can see a few photos of it from the archive. Incredible structure and then we arrive at Lake Alssee, which we are now going to circle. Come with me. Wow, it has a bit of Canada about it, but also a bit of a Krommacher advert. In any case, it is incredibly beautiful. We have literally arrived at the point of our tour today. We are at the Ibse at the foot of the Zugspitze. Up there you can see the summit with the two cable cars: one from Germany and one from Austria. That is also an exciting story. This mountain lake here has crystal-clear water with its eight islands.
