We’ve come from the Netherlands and are now driving towards Cologne. We want to go to Zülpich to a campsite by a lake there. I’d like to introduce it in this video. Welcome to it. [Music] Before I get started with the campsite in Zülpich, I’d like to show you a few pictures of a campsite in the Netherlands that we used previously. A simple spot, but perhaps of interest to some of you. This spot is not far from the German-Dutch border, near Kleve – so it’s easy to get to from Germany. In the Netherlands, there are lots of campsites and mini-campsites on farms, and this one is one of them. Now we can see a building on the right that belongs to the farm – here on the right – and opposite we can already see the entrance to the campsite. Another look at the map: the place is called Herpen and it’s a small town. This campsite is nearby. In the Netherlands, there are many of these small parking and camping sites that belong to a farm. Here at the entrance, we can see the waste disposal site. There are 12 sites here, but I think there are a few more. On the left, where the mobile homes are parked, there are parceled areas, and on the right, there is a meadow. There is no parceled area there, so a few vehicles can park there as well. The site costs 16 euros. Electricity is also available – it costs extra, a flat rate of 3 euros. The site is not far from the River Maas. We spent two nights here in mid-June. It was beautifully quiet there. It’s also a great place for cycling – the Maas is not far away. This site is open from April 1 to October 31. After two nights, we continued south, towards Cologne. Southwest of Cologne lies the town of Zülpich, and there is a site there. We want to use it as a stopover. This parking space is located very close to Lake Zülpicher. We are now on the direct access road to the lake and the parking space. It’s mid-June – I think I already mentioned that – it’s June 17th. It ‘s a Tuesday, and we arrive at this parking space around lunchtime. You can now see the first motorhomes on the right. There’s a large recreational area here, so we can see large parking areas straight ahead, although these are reserved for cars. Here at the entrance, you can glimpse the lake for a brief moment. This is a large parking space. There’s space for up to 60 mobile homes . There are no parcels here – I think you can already tell. Even larger motorhomes have plenty of space here. There are two areas. We’re now driving through the front area. There are trees here, and depending on where you stand, you might even get a bit of shade. And now we’re driving to the back area – there’s less shade there. There are trees too, but the spots are usually very sunny. We meet our best friends Lisa and Horst here. They’re already at the site, having stayed an extra night. We then want to drive on to the Moselle together. We parked opposite Lisa and Horst. We’ve both put out our awnings because it’s very warm. Unfortunately, we don’t have much time – which means we have to move on the next day because we want to go to the [__] for the big meeting. So we don’t have much time to look around the town – which is a bit of a shame, of course. Lisa and Horst told us about it and how beautiful the town is – and it’s worth seeing. You really should have seen it, but sometimes it just doesn’t work out. To pay for the space, I walked to the entrance or rather the driveway. There’s a parking meter here. You can pay by card – probably an EC card. But I paid in cash, i.e. with change. You have to insert 12.50 euros in coins here. That’s the price for the parking fee. There’s also the option to pay with an app – the EasyPark app. I don’t have such an app and I’m not sure if it’s chargeable. R then paid by card, first trying the Visa – of course, that did n’t work. Then he tried the EC card, and it worked. Wait a minute… yes, 12.50 euros… “tick, select, complete ticket” – is that a miracle of technology? The parking fee includes electricity. There are power connections on the site. Opposite this entrance to the parking space is the waste disposal area. Everything is very spacious, so it ‘s no problem even for larger vehicles. You can drive through and don’t have to maneuver for long. What I saw – or at least suspect – is that you also have to empty the cassette into the floor inlet. That’s obviously not ideal. The water tap is as usual – we all know that. The tap is at the bottom, a start-stop button at the top, and then you insert coins. The nice thing here is that you can also insert small coins, such as 10 cents, and then get the corresponding amount of water. From the waste disposal area, you have a view of a parking area. This is for cars, specifically for the bathing beach. The bathing beach – if you want to access it – is subject to a fee, and costs 8 euros for adults. We didn’t go there – we simply didn’t have enough time. You can’t get to the lake from everywhere. There are fences in some places. Here, for example, there is a small harbor for sailboats – it’s not that easy to get in there. But there is the option of using the parking space. There is a small forest at the edge, and there is a path that leads to the lake. There are also hiking opportunities there. The town of Zülpich is 2 to 3 km away. We still had to do some shopping, so we set off on our bikes. The town of Zülpich is a former Roman town with many sights. It’s definitely worth a visit. Of course, I only know the whole thing from pictures and photos. We would have loved to go there and see the town – but we simply didn’t have the time. We’re riding on a bike path that leads to the town. We pass the lido – here’s the entrance, and there’s a bar here too. So it’s only a few hundred meters from the campsite. The shops are about 2 km from the campsite. It’s been very hot these days, so we didn’t go shopping until the evening. There are various supermarkets, discount stores, and shops at this location. After we returned from shopping, we had a barbecue with Horst and Lisa and enjoyed a cozy end to the evening. [Music] The next morning. We slept well, and we moved on. The campsite was well-used during our stay, but there were still plenty of free spaces. You can see it here – there are plenty of spaces available. Lisa and Horst have already disposed of their waste. We’ll also dispose of it now, and then we’ll both continue on towards the Moselle. That’s it for now. As always, I say: Thank you for watching – and goodbye, see you next time. [Music]
