Our bikepacking journey from Salzburg to Vienna kicked off with a stunning route through the heart of Austria — from the historic city of Salzburg to the calm, crystal-clear waters of Attersee.

We rode about 57 km on this first day. The route started in the city, quickly led us into peaceful countryside roads, passed through small villages, and gradually shifted into forest trails and gravel paths.

Along the way, we passed through towns like Eugendorf and Straßwalchen, where traditional Austrian houses, open fields, and quiet roads made the ride feel relaxed and refreshing. There were a few gentle climbs, but the scenic views always made it worth the effort.

Toward the end of the day, we cruised down into the Attersee region — and that first glimpse of the turquoise lake was unforgettable. Cold water, mountain air, and a quiet lakeside — the perfect way to end Day 1.
