After finishing the old non-pro G-one R tires I had on the bike, today I put on some new rubber. Put on a fresh – now pro – G-One R in the rear and got an RX Pro for some more grip up front. No tan wall this time, just because price and availability was a bit better on black lol.
Went on a nice 60km loop for a shakedown ride. I would be lying if I said I notice a significant difference on the R Pro aside from the "new tread factor". Corners about the same in the rear and rolls basically the same too. The RX is noticeable though. The grip, especially on the XC trails and in damp soil is much better. It is not as perfectly smooth cornering aggressively on tarmac. But the off road grip is worth the tradeoff so far. Open "Champagne gravel" turns feel a bit different but I am not sure if it is less grip or higher speeds from more grip lol.
The rolling on tarmac is a tad slower, it looses the effortlessness the R still has imo. But it is not bad at all. The noise is more of a low swoosh than the mosquito-like buzz of the R.
Pretty happy so far.
