We’ve just had a absolutely amazing seven days on the island of Cit, one of the Greek islands. So, probably I’ll give you a little video which will be different to the other ones you’re going to see on YouTube as we’ve been in a part of CIT that’s a little bit lesser known, so to speak, a little bit off the beaten track. We’re going to show you some of the food. We’re going to show you a hotel that’s fairly new and it’s going to be soon be one of the hot spots to to visit for couples potentially. I’m going to show you one of the most unique ways to get around this island. So, join me and I’ll show you what we’ve got to offer. So, I actually figured I’d put a video together more for us. um largely because we we filmed that much footage while we’re away that I just wanted somewhere to to be able to save it before anything gets deleted. Um, and I think back in the in the day when you went holiday, you would you’d often make a we photo album up or put a couple of pictures up on the wall and things, but this day and age where we’re walking around with iPhones on us or or little cameras, action cams, like I had my DJI and Pocket Osmo with me. Um, so it made it easier to to take these kind of videos. This is we were staying at the Santana Island which is a a very new hotel. I think it’s been open just over 12 months with these kind of swim up pools that you see here. Swim up rooms and outdoor and indoor eating areas and a stunning location. You know, I had the infinity pool in the main part that that you look right over on the sea. This was facing north. This is in the um kind of norththeast um of of Creek and just slightly off the beaten track, slightly off the more popular areas, but nevertheless um I think it one of them areas that will become one of the more popular areas. It’s not far away from Malia, which is quite a popular area you see on TikTok these days and the Malia strip. Yeah, that was our digs. Yeah. So I thought I’d give you quite an intro of where we were at, you know. Greece is is very much known for its food. and we were at an all-inclusive hotel. So, um I got to be honest, a lot of our food was actually within the hotel area. Um but here’s a few little montage clips of us of all the many different things that we sampled for pretty much from the plate of Gayen and our we happy dance that she’s she’s eating. Um we can both safely say that we at our all-incluses worth of food while we’re away and and I can’t recommend enough um to go all inclusive when you go to a place like Gree um Cree or or one of the islands um cuz every night for us we found it was just such good variety and what you pick for and then when we did go out on our little adventures we were always finding nice places to Ah, the fun bit. Now I know when people go to treat all the videos I was seeing was of folk who had um hired a car and I get that because a car would then allow you to get around the island. Um and the best way I can describe it is creeks are quite a bit bigger than than sky. Um so when you you do the island of sky you typically want to have yourself a a car to drive around but we didn’t want to go the whole island. We just wanted to take in the area that we’re in but in a fun way. So we hired a quad bike done it twice. Um this is a little town called Milos that was quite close to us. A little beach town. Those big um concrete things that you seen there was uh the remnants of the war actually and they were used as like barriers out in the sea and then they obviously pulled them in and then piled them up. Uh but we kind of used the quad bike cuz it was it felt more it had some holiday vibes to it. So, you’re getting the the sun hitting you as you as you’re you’re scooting along. Um, you know, it felt lovely. I’m not going to say too much more. I’m going to let the the footage just roll. Um, so you can get savor the the sound, the wind blowing, the the we bit noise in the different areas. Um, it’s in no real order than that we had a few different stop offs that we did. And the one thing I I want to kind of add is for anyone ever played the game Grand Theft Auto, this is the kind of vibe it felt like is that you were you’d be driving along in a and a we all of a sudden you’d pop up to the the most minute tiny little village um settlements almost eight 10 houses where people can the doors waving at you. went past or dog would chase you and um they all felt like very unique areas and um just the thing that I want to highlight as well just as we’re coming up in the video here is every so often you’d see these little um things at the side of the road like mini churches there were that was almost like a post box and this was the first one we’d seen and what it was is it was basically letting me know that that on that driveway or up that area there was a place of worship worship so like a church or um a monastery so to speak. Um sometimes it was visible like it is there uh and in other times you would um they would be hidden in a a top of a hill somewhere and a lot of them are very high up. I mean I was looking at the maps and some of these churches I was finding were way above the height that you get Ben Nevice at. You know, 1300 m. It was quite um quite funny to think that they’re going that high up to pray. Here’s one of the the many little villages that I couldn’t remember the name of it just and there were so many you just scooted around but they were like a a couple little these Greek style houses together just looked stunning and like I say I’m going to shut up and roll for a bit and I’ll I’ll join you back in a we That’s where we are. Yeah. What the hell? [Music] I briefly mentioned it, but Malia was our closest town. It was It’s quite a party town actually. There’s a it’s called the Malia strip where it’s all the nightclubs and pubs and areas and bars. We went uh in this trip kind of reasonably early in the morning actually. I think I think we were even before McDonald’s opened up. That’s we got there. Um it took a we drive um down towards the the beach to get a cocktail and get a we um s I had a non-alcoholic cocktail just for the the reference here cuz um I was really cautious of um drinking and driving particularly when you’re over in Creek and they’ve got a zero tolerance for um for that kind of stuff. I kind of looked up before I went. Not that I would drive drink anyway, but you know what I mean? Like I was very very aware of that. So yeah, we do cruise on Malia um on one of our trips. In fact, we did Mal twice actually in the quad bike just for a we look. I seen this little town in the map, Crassy. Very, very small town. Had a couple of little features on there worth visiting, but it was something like 650 m above sea level. So, um it took a fair whack to get there. And as you’ll see with the the drive back, um it was a steep pull to get up on a quad bike, but we did as back in this little trip. But you can see the view the way down the valley. I mean, this is I say 600 m over the the crest and then following these little zigzag routes on the way back down. Some of the roads and some of the driving conditions was just fantastic, you know. Um, and again being on a quad bike, it felt more um like you’re outside. Um, lovely lovely views. Um, felt you felt more close to the mountains, I think, was the better words to put it there actually. Um, yeah. And but I will say as well like the the roads were reasonably quiet and they’re smooth. So if you’re kind of suggesting whether or not you you’d feel comfortable driving abroad or driving creek particularly, um, you have you should have no problem at all. Neapoli was another little um town that we visited. This amazing looking church, some fantastic buildings on our way up to the uh little safari park we found in the map, Amazonia Park with his little tortoises and birds and the little mircat here that was having a we nap and he was he wanted to sleep, wasn’t he? entertaining us. Um it was I seen it on the on Google Maps and I I was just looking for areas to to take the quad bike to to be fair and this just popped up as a oh why don’t we go here? Um the peacock was running in the wild that that Caitlyn was not a fan of. Um after got this footage we had to uh kind of shoe it away so we could get past. But that was a nice we stop off. broke the the journey up um before we kind of we we didn’t even look at maps at this point. We just picked little roots and just drove. You know, having the quad bike gave us the option of not really having to stick to the main roads. We could um make use of the the back roads and or or no roads as we’ll see in a few seconds, but just dirt paths. Thank you. and this ended up being one of the roads that wasn’t really on the maps anywhere, but we um we just followed the sign. It kind of roughly looked like where we were planning on going and and took a we a we wander here. Got a we chase up a dug here that looked like it wouldn’t be friendly and then it kind of bed us and took after us. Um this is still pretty high by the way. I think we’re somewhere in the region of five or 600 m above sea level coming over these hills. It’s hard to gauge the kind of depth that you are right now. But um some of these roads are just fantastic. I mean they they kind a lot of them reminded me of you know bits in the K gorms where you kind of link some of the kind of the more popular roads that end up on a B road to get between the two of them kind of like the B mark area that’s kind of the kind of look remind me of and then a few of the kind of the me roads like another area that kind of remind me of that I’ve driven on very regular is when you do the three locks um loop from M you go St. Mary’s Loft and then W Tama and then you have the food as well. But you do them these little windy roads. But then here, as you see, it wasn’t even a road. The camera’s not picking up, but it was just big boulders all the way along this. And then you come up to this absolute pristine church yet again. Um they really do take their um their religion, their prayer time serious. It’s quite um quite understanding actually. Um, but we finally found our way back on track and but it was quite nice going off country, you know, and away from the what them they wanted to do. They wanted to do the the kind of quad safaris where people lead you like nah, we’ll find our own way. We came across this monastery by chance. We’d gone back to Nepali and we were looking for another road to drive up on and I seen signs for this. Wasn’t sure where or how far away it was and fantastic. And then we ended up on this big loop that took it up through these mountain passes to Zenina. Um, this is a a road to bottom. I’m going to say what this circular was, but I think it’s something like 60k and it took us over, 1100 m above sea level at one point. The quad actually cut out twice because I think the the altitude was kind of hitting hitting the oil too much. Um, which is quite bizarre. A combination of oil and altitude and and the heat as well. It was 30°, but then we actually found it was getting quite cold by the time we got to the higher points and the windows hitting us. Um, but that route was just fantastic. Didn’t get to film much on that part. Um, I wish I did. I always got to give Kaitlyn the camera for that part because it was the best part. Um, but here we’re coming down back towards our kind of main part C through a little village that we went through a few times called Vachi or Vashas. Um, which was a lovely looking little village. I never actually got to see it properly. So, I was paying attention to the road too much, but when I watched it back in the footage, I was noticing little bits I hadn’t seen, but it’s the um the mountains around us. It was just such a stunning view. Um notice how green things are um as well. Like really green. Think about they get temperatures that are exceeding 30s for a lot of their year. How are they getting so green? Um just different climate and different plantation over there. Um really impressive with that. But I’m leaving the the kind of best part of our our roots for last. There is far night but different areas within creek and areas that you would say are more popular and stunning and you know more on the touristy roots but I think about Creek was kind of like Scotland where you know everyone focus on Glen Cole and Toridan. However, there’s so many parts of Scotland that that you can you can put on a tour guide and class that as a must-see place and and these areas here, I’m sure you can kind of see for yourself. They are stunning. They are lovely little these little quaint villages. And this led us into our our final stretch in the road, which then I think we’re about 500 m 550 m above sea level here. and it kind of winds it ways down in the the valley into a gorge that I’ll I’ll kind of briefly mention um as we get there And our final little part on our quad bike journeys is an area that we was literally outside our back door called the Senari Gorge which very reminiscent of driving to places like Polo, you know, the the cliffs and the mountains either side of you. But doing it on a quad bike just felt so much more, you know, the closeness of the mountains felt fantastic. Almost giving you a little mountain fix, you know, for the for the people that know me and the people that that can relate to, you know, you go a few few weeks or whatever without getting up into the mountains. K did a a great job here. I’ve captured this. I’ll be honest, I didn’t know what she was doing in the back. I didn’t know she was filming any of this. Um I’ I’d left her the um I think it was the Instas 360 Ace Pro 2 actually. That’s what I’ left her. I’d given her the RS, the 1 RS as well, the little 360 camera at some points as you’ve seen. But for most of the time she was filming on the the A Pro 2. Um and you can see the stabilization on is fantastic. The sound quality has been brilliant as well. I think um obviously the wind is going to make a little bit different but we are doing at some point speeds of 80 90 km an hour. Um so as a little test of what it’s like driving foot page I would say very good. But um back to the gorge itself absolutely fantastic. I mean look at that stunning the cliffs. I’m going to drive out and we’ll we’ll get you at the last part of the video. So, our hotel was based in Cece here in this little harbor town and very small. And you can see where they’ve kind of extended and added on the a few of the hotels, but very much kept it this Greek feel to it and didn’t have an abundance of of British style hotels and restaurants, which I appreciated. I hate those type of places. Had them in the past. where it felt like it was just going across, you know, the water to to visit Britain, so to speak. So, this felt really nice. Yeah. What better way to finish this video than with the sunsets? We got lucky with the weather. Every night was just the same. It was just this blue skies and then clear nights and then the sunset came and we got like an hour and a half to 2 hours of this stunning color change and show. I always love a sunset and that’s what you get when you come a bit further south in Europe. So like you know cit is one of the most southern islands if not the southern island I think it is uh in the Greek islands and you just get some stunning colors when the sunset comes and of course in the morning when the sun rise comes as well. But for me Robert and Adventures I just want to say thank you if you’ve been watching. Don’t forget to give it a like. Please comment. I’d like to see some comments on, you know, if anyone’s got any trips planned this year, where anyone’s actually going um to the Greek islands. Love to hear what you are doing. And then, like I say, we get back to normal um on next week’s video. Back to uh probably a bit of rain in Scotland or some other we adventure, bit of camping, bit hiking, as my my normal challenge. I go 6:00 p.m. UK time every Thursday. But for me, I’m going to say adios. Bye-bye. [Music] [Music]
