This was my longest cycle ride ever – 60 miles! I made my way from Aylesbury to Bledlow and started the video from there. I then went through the various small villages in the Chiltern Hills and down to Marlow. So many narrow lanes and steep hills, plus beautiful scenery. It was an amazing journey.
hello again everyone welcome to another video another cycling one I’m afraid I know they’re not as popular but um I like doing them uh this is going to be a long one today um I’ve worked it out to be 55 miles from my house in Alsbury I’m going down to Marlo and uh passing through fingest hamon Marlo as I said and then coming back through flackwell Heath uh South Heath and around the back of great Mendon there should be interesting we’re going to see the river temps as well so looking forward to that on a beautiful day let’s go and see what it’s like shall we so I’m starting from the village of bledo even though I’ve cycled 9 mil to get here I didn’t want to bore you with all that traffic between Alsbury and here along the lower RNE way so I have not been down this way before so this is all going to be new and you’re going to discover it with me that looks like a Railway Bridge it might be the chin line actually although it looks uh derel I’ll be showing you where I am on the map anyway way at certain points so I know it’s hard to navigate where you are from just the [Music] video 10 miles done from home only another 45 to go that’s an estimation based on my uh route planning using the outdoor active uh app very useful and it’s uh what I’m following at the moment cuz I don’t know a lot of these little country roads they turn this way and that you don’t know where you’re going and it tells me I’ve got a a turn say 500 ft ahead or something like that is useful [Music] huh using all of the modes on the on the ebike just to keep me [Music] going it was fully charged when I left and after just over 10 miles I’ve got 89% left rag Mage Lane down into the [Music] valley oh Jesus look at this isn’t it uh it’s har they’re awkward when you can’t see what up ahead pleas nothing coming up we’re all right [Music] [Music] oh it’s so dark as you get blinded by the sudden light you can’t even see the road ahead very [Music] cautious right jeez see I suppose I should have a blinking front light or [Music] something well that’s good that was a van and they usually pretty wide aren’t they [Music] so if that can fit past car should be able to just following it around this reminds me of the hail back of Wendover which I’ll be going down later hopefully on the way back radnage there’s nowhere else to go but following this road [Music] carefully now still good still following the [Music] road up and down we [Music] go good Lord wow that is [Music] narrow Extra Care down here my word it’s as scary as hell this one jeez man and here’s me in the shade as well we have a chance we’re all right [Music] [Music] look at this road man guys it’s so scary I should have put a bling headlight on [Music] [Music] now this reminds me of [Music] whales wow look at this Woodland beautiful [Music] now we there for time just almost 11:00 17 mil [Music] done still a lot to go but psychologically as soon as I get to Marlo I’ll be coming back home from there so that’ll be the halfway point pretty [Music] much I can hear the traffic of the M40 [Music] there we go Marlo 7 what I’m doing a right and then a left [Music] well presumably this is a continuation of the old road I just on Checker’s [Music] Lane yeah definitely [Music] [Music] oh oh not another [Music] one I don’t like these [Music] Lanes I’m leaving out to this the side to see if I can see anything coming I don’t like [Music] it I’m all right as if I if I can see far ahead I’ll speed up a bit [Music] [Music] how the hell did that get down those roads can I get past it I don’t think I can [Music] [Music] Jesus so I’m not in a rush well I’ve made it to fingest or is it fingest I think fingest myself so lovely little village South buck and a distinctive Church which we can have a look at in a little while just followed a BL in um the refuges collection a bin wagon as they call it disturbing the Tranquility of this place so let’s go and have a look of the old church right so there we are the Checkers in a beautiful sh and a pheasant which nearly scared the crap out of [Applause] me doesn’t that look gorgeously Norman church with its uh double roof there very unusual I don’t know where I’m going next um we will see won’t we skit and hamon that’s where I’m going yes just double checking my map on the uh phone [Music] skumm it unusual name isn’t it [Music] [Music] [Music] yep the frog that scar it very droll almost at [Music] Hamilton hamon is probably one of the most beautiful little villages in the county [Music] very photogenic used for a lot of uh TV and film work [Music] [Music] what [Applause] Lovely isn’t it look all these flowers wow hamon [Music] Church uh [Applause] okay that threw me for a second see what I mean look at this absolutely stunning [Music] [Applause] [Music] I’m not going out this way but uh we have a [Applause] look the view of the church what an amazing place look at [Applause] [Applause] this yes beautiful about going back in time if we W for the cars [Music] [Applause] is where am I heading yes I’m heading that way so that was beautiful hambledon now I’m going down to the river Tims [Music] [Applause] wow look at this I’m not going all the way out there so I’m just going to uh show you what’s here and then come back so here we got h and locked stunningly beautiful place yeah the same river that feed London I’m not going that way cuz I need to cycle to Marlo so yeah let’s [Music] go think I’ll go down here now [Music] yes rotten row [Music] [Music] uh God look at this oh grav as hell [Music] rotten row say was that [Music] rotten wow look at this pond [Music] [Music] oh all right thanks [Music] mate not another [Music] one this ain’t so bad just the Steep sided ones are quite treacherous much room to move out of the way ah [Music] hey at all that time squirrel what do you chose then [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] oh my word [Music] it’s getting scared course [Music] buy isn’t this stunning [Music] I bet this is beautiful in deepest Autumn all these young beach trees maybe I should have done the ride then [Music] [Music] uh where are we going [Music] right W the famous [Music] bridge lovely Marlo [Music] [Music] [Music] I’m only doing this for the hell of it I don’t have to go across the bridge but as I’m here makes sense doesn’t [Music] [Music] it well welcome to Marlo [Music] [Music] as a walk back there the way [Music] such a perfect morning another Direction I should go down on that churchyard I think and get proper view of the bridge that’s what we want isn’t it so here I am at the church churchyard and uh there’s the famous suspension bridge in all its Glory I think it must be time for lunch I can see a bench there just begging me to go and sit down unless This Woman’s going to go in there yes time for a break [Music] so here we are little Marlo very nice to as the sun comes out [Music] [Music] well according to my computer there I’ve done 34 1/2 miles so that’s just 19 to go [Music] some of it’s going to be a bit tough cuz I think this bit coming up is going uphill as I leave the T 10 [Music] Valley keep cling on Slack forhead [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] God these Hills are so long [Music] it’s a bit more tiring after 30 odd [Music] miles just keep it steady Pace I’m all right woo [Music] man uh God that was frightening there 35 going down there [Music] all [Music] right turn left at the end [Music] oh boy need every bit of help on this one everyone’s [Music] way it now it’s say steep [Music] oh [Music] man this is the steepest one of L on him [Applause] [Music] good old [Music] turbo oh God this is a absolute killer [Music] [Music] [Music] okay Tyler’s Green [Music] mileage now 38 n [Music] yeah I can tell but my speed that my legs are tired just keep fling [Music] on Co blowing me I thought I was done with these Lanes [Music] [Music] this is all very nice gave my legs a break that [Music] did I should see some familiar territory soon not at the moment though I don’t recognize this area at all [Music] [Music] my bike’s on 36% sorry 38% oh another Woody bit this is what it’s all about I love these wooden wooded uh Lanes so [Music] [Music] pretty what am I doing up here turning right so I’m almost at little mingan there we go there’s a sign welcomes careful drivers and tour cyclists [Music] [Music] [Music] oh look at this hey you turn a corner just so gorgeous look at [Music] this just so pretty uh where am I going uh where am I going I think I’ll turn right um I going up there think I am Taylor’s Lane oh okay so that goes under the railway Railway line the one that goes via amam to London [Music] oh this is the London Road isn’t it of course yes y 413 my God I could some time [Music] let’s go I think I’m going up the other side here single Track Road yes that was one hell of a busy road wasn’t it now you know why do these little Lanes as dangerous as these are God stuff all over it oh I don’t like [Music] this there’s the Railway Bridge and up the other [Music] side so this is a interesting test for me to see how good or bad I feel cycling this far and I have to say I’m feeling it a bit bit sadle saw I suppose it comes with the experience though my saddle’s got that sort of memory foam stuff built in so it is quite uh comfortable over a long distance I can’t believe the mileage I’ve done is ridiculous I mean when I finish this ride it will be the longest I’ve ever done in my entire life so as a bonus a bit later I’ll give you a view of uh um wend over Dean Viaduct cuz you can see it from the the ridge the Gap in a field entrance [Music] there well I’m deviating from my route but uh I said I was going to show you the uh wend over Ding viu and I can only do that by going left [Music] has just been resurfaced Old Kings Lane this used to be bumpy as hell I think it has been you know brilliant go it’s so much better yeah this is one of the worst Lanes around it was that it’s very pleasurable all right let’s show you and myself I’ll have a look I’ve never seen this before certainly not for a long time wind over Dean vict well there it is I’ll try and zoom in a bit for you uh there it is spanning the entire Valley that’s quite something isn’t it still much to do on it though like putting the power on and the the decking and all that business yeah so that’s [Music] that so back to the old Beast oh it’s not that far to go I think I could do it a break listen to me puffing and panting all right reduced speed fingers on brakes looking out for any debris on the road as well [Music] [Music] that was lucky wasn’t it good pass in place [Music] there that’s why I don’t go too fast down here cuz obvious reasons only a little bit more this this little [Music] Bend then we see some beautiful [Music] [Music] cottages like this AR they lovely oh a we’ll have a look at that shall we see how much that’s going [Music] for oh dear house L of mileage now 54.3 how about that [Music] and I’ve still got about 5 miles to go I think it’s going to be about 60 I think it’s going to realistically be 60 Windover is 5 miles away from elsbury and I’m not even there [Music] yet just this last bit [Music] and I get to wind [Music] over back on the cycle way all the way [Music] home not bad I done that in 4 hours 55 miles not bad guy right see how fast I can go down here probably not very given the uh the wind blowing at me oh number 13 there we go 32 slow down or I’ll be speeding all we are at w over feeling weary what time is it 245 that’s about the end of the uh cycle ride for me I’ve still got uh 2 or 3 miles to go and uh I’m already on 57.3 I’m absolutely knackered so taking it out of me that one but very enjoyable but one of those uh villages lovely hambledon lovely so pretty so anyway if you made it this far uh thanks for watching and uh hope to see you in the next video bye for now [Applause]

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIQUE!!
What a great ride, beautiful countryside on an unusually sunny summers day😊, that must have been one of the only decent days last summer. Lovely route, any chance of a copy🤔👍
