Okay, welcome back to my YouTube channel. So, this weekend we’re at Outlaw Hulcom. We’re doing the double race weekend. So, we’re doing gravel sprint triathlon on Saturday. That’s what we’re here for today. And then tomorrow we’re doing a 70.3 and but we’re going to take them a little bit steady cuz we’re doing Swansea 70.3 Pro Series next weekend. So, this is going to be like the final big training weekend before we go and smash that. Um, so we’re going to do gravel sprint triathlon kind of tempo and then 70.3 zone two just take it steady. Um, practice all the race nutrition and all that. Um, but yeah, let’s go and get into transition with the gravel bike and we’ll see you over there. Okay, so we’re all set up in transition now because we’re number one. Um, I haven’t bothered to put any elastic bands on. That’s also cuz I haven’t got any. Um, so we’re just going to let the shoes dangle cuz I’ve literally just got to run to there. You can see the sign. Um, we’ve got 34 PSI in the back and 32 in the front. Front tire is a bit bigger. Um, they’re set up tubeless this time cuz I got a pinch the other day riding through a car park. Um, we’ve just got normal running shoes, uh, road helmet, and at the moment my bottle’s full, but I’m going to drink a bit to save some weight. This year it was like just getting started. People weren’t sure what to quite make of it, but this year it sold out really, really quickly. And we’ve got a proper range of bike. Like look, we’ve got a high here. It will turn anyway. U full suspension downhill mountain bike. Like all sorts. So it’s really cool cuz everyone can have a go. Like you don’t need any of the best equipment. Look, this Marin, it’s like what’s that? 2000s maybe. Um but yeah, it’s pretty cool that everyone can have a go. So this is the most important part of the pre-race ritual, the big massive poo. So thankfully we’ve got here nice and early. There’s no queue yet and we can take our pick of the portaloo. So I think I’m going to have to choose this massive one because I’ve got a big one brewing. Um so avoid whatever number one this is. Wish me luck. Okay, so here we are. We’re at the swim start. So we got two ramps to enter the water, which is quite nice if you’re doing your first one. Like you don’t have to jump in or dive. Um, I think it’s actually quite warm cuz it’s not the deepest lake and it’s also not that big. Um, so I think you will be able to see we’re swimming up to the red boy and then there’s another one around the corner and then there’s a yellow one out all the way back around. Follow the red ones back. Yellow one over here and then we’re coming out over there just behind those ducks and all the little ducklings. So what what are my like race plans for this race? So, since I’ve got my probably the biggest race I’ve ever done next week, um this week is just going to be like a tempo sprint triathlon. Um and that’s today. So, we’re going to go like we’re going to go fairly hard on the swim. Um steady on the bike and then not going to finish myself off on the run, but I want to still put in a good effort. Um just to get like a similar training effect to something like a sweet spot session, but doing it over a triathlon. [Music] Well, everyone here at Hul this weekend, we’ve got the yellow hat. [Music] [Applause] Okay, there we go. So, 750 done. Almost fell over there. So 750 done in just over 9 minutes. So like a minute faster than last year. No one else has come in yet. Uh that was about 110 per 100 pace. Feeling pretty comfortable. Um but yeah, about to get on the bike now. So hand you back over to Eve. [Music] transition to the mic. Bye. See you later. Woohoo! The mic’s connected. Put it like near my face. There we go. Bike done. Stop my watch. That was pretty good. That was like crazy bumpy. Way from way better than last year cuz it was like not a storm. It was really really windy. Um, but apart from that, pretty good. Like 300 I think for 20 minutes. 300. Oh, my helmet. Helmet’s off. Don’t forget that, guys. Um, but yeah, out on the run now. That was like 20k gravel bike. I think it was like 315 watts average. So, pretty steady, just like sweet spot. Um, but now out on the run. Just going to take it nice and easy. Well, tempo. So, probably about I don’t know what would be the equivalent of 330s on the flats, but obviously it’s on trail off road. Um, yeah, you can do. There we go. So, just coming around the corner now to finish in front of Hulcom Hall. Nice and beautiful. Done. A nice tempo a nice tempo run there. Just under 20 minutes for 5k and coming down the orange finish line now. I’ll see you in a minute. I’ll give this back. How was that, Malachi? Was that as fun as last year? That was absolutely brilliant. Last year it was all stormy, but this year bone dry dust everywhere. Was like crashing all over the road. Um people on the course, you were like on your left and there was like going like really fast around the outside. Um everyone’s having a good time. Um and the run course especially cuz last year it was so muddy. I was like caked in mud at the end. Um and it was pretty slow. But this year it was like a lovely jog through the fields. Um loads of geese. Um saw a couple of deer like Bambi run out in front of me. Um almost stuck me out and I had a lovely man on the bike. I didn’t actually get his name but he was super helpful um guiding me around the course pointing out all the branches that I was going to hit my head on. Um but yeah, it was a great time. 10 out of 10. Would recommend. Um, so we’re going to go get my bike in a minute out of transition and then we’re going to go back to the car, get my TT bike, and then we got to check in for tomorrow’s race 70.3. Um, so we’ll get a bit of food, check that bike back in. Yeah, doesn’t have to take his bike out. Transition. [Music] I can go find I can I can do it. We’re happy to do it. We just wanted to check whether it was all right. Sorry. I feel bad. Do you know your number? Number one. You’re number one? Is that cuz you’re coming in number one? Well, I was number one today as well. They’re in the same position as me. It’s not going to be long before her child in Toronto actually. Okay. So, it’s now Sunday. We’re back for the 70.3 and we’re just getting in transition now. So, the bike’s all set up. It’s got my shoes on, all my bottles, nutrition, um, got the gels and the running shoes down the bottom um, for after. And yeah, you can see there’s like loads of bikes in here. I don’t know how many people are doing it, but I probably estimate about 15 million because there’s so many bikes. One woman has already come past and said that my bike’s the best. And I was just saying that this pink bike is is just a woman magnet. I’m literally fighting them off. Um, but yeah, hopefully I can get rid of them in the swim and get a bit of a lead before all the women start chasing me down, trying to steal my bike off me. But we’re gonna go over to the swim start now. Um, and get my wets suit. I I’ll put my helmet in transition. Um, and I’ll remember to take it off this time when I come out. Okay, so I’m here with Louis Dunn. Um, and he decided that he was going to ride 180k yesterday and now he’s doing a 70.3 today. So, he’s already one up me cuz I only did like an hour of exercise. How are the legs feeling today? Surprisingly good. Um, I had to get here if I’m not losing him. So, I thought bit of a full distance training. Why not give everyone else a fair chance, you know? Yeah, it’s definitely efficient way of getting here, getting your training in whilst traveling to the race. It’s a bit further for me to come. It would have been about maybe 400k or something, but maybe we’ll do that next year. And are you going to like smash it today or are you just going to like cruise around tempo? We’ll give it a good crack. Swim and bike hard. Um the run maybe start off high then I’m going to not going to go flat out just cuz I am training for the full in 3 weeks. So I have to make sure I’m ready to train next week. But if I’m in the mix, I’ll probably get carried away. I’m thinking exactly the same thing. Right. Good luck to you. Here we go. Got carried away. I’m winning. Remember to take it a bit steadier on the bike into transition there. We got Ted just behind us. Ted Ward and then looks like we got quite a big gap. Ted, you’re going to win by miles. [Music] I’m getting out. But yeah, I got a bit carried away on the swim. So, 2410. So, not too bad, but slowed up in the middle, so I just gave it a bit. But yeah, come back now. [Music] [Applause] Oh, come on. He’s out his wet suit. Quick, he’s got his helmet on. Come on. Oh, his bike’s off. Come on. A go. Uhoh. Good luck. Uhoh. Go. I got no break. T1 Malachi break it is. Have a good night. Thank you. See you. Let’s go. You’re miles behind miles behind. The mic’s connected. Some guy absolutely smashed it to the ground in front of me. Oh. like going around this corner and one guy had a puncture and then there was this guy in front of me and he like went around the corner and then went off the road onto the gravel and he like skidded his front wheel on the gravel. Ouch. And then back onto the road and his front wheel went like sideways and then he went absolutely blind. I thought he was dead and he hasn’t come all but um Oh, we done. Oh, what? He just over there. It was the car about 2 minutes into the ride. Right. He fell over on that thing yesterday. What? On the Oh, really? Yeah. All right. I think almost fell over there. It was like a bit windy on the way out, but the way back in was super fast. But after doing that gravel yesterday, my balls my balls are pretty sore. Move that way a bit. So, like all the little bumps are like rubbing on my balls. So, have to put a bit more Vaseline on next time. Um, but I think I did like two 245 watts. So, right in zone 2 about 125 beats a minute. Um, what was I going to say? 38k an hour. So, not even that slow to be fair. Um, but yeah, get off on the run now. Looks like it’s about to rain, so cool me down a little bit. Um, but yeah, I’ll see you in a lap time. Oh, you did. What happened to you? You stacked it out. Oh, really? Oh, no. Does that mean you owe me a pizza then? We ain’t got the mic, but Yeah. You haven’t got it. You haven’t got it. How you feeling? Good. Yeah, it’s amazing. Right. Triathlons are actually quite fun. Yeah. If you don’t go max effort. That’s surprising, actually. It’s so weird. And if you actually eat food like for like 350s I’ve done so far. Oh yeah, that was a nice 430 for 14k and like 2 years ago I would have been so happy with that and now I feel like I’m just soft pedaling. Yeah, it was so nice. Well, it’s easy for some like you. Well, yeah, but like consistency eating on the bike like such a big difference. Yeah. But I’m dying for a week. Oh yeah. I really need a wish. Go in front of everyone, please. Should I get right here? Yeah. Just on the orange carpet. Yeah, why not? Scandal, right? Amazing. It’s recording and connected. Thank you. Thanks. Right. There we go. So, if you want to see more mid race intervals, remember to like and subscribe. Here we go. Coming in the orange now. doing a bit of commentary as well by the way from the commentators. Well, there we go. That’s just over 120 for a half through the finish line now. And there we go. Done. We’ve done gravel sprint yesterday and half iron man today. Uh we hang on. Okay. My watch isn’t working, but I think it was about 4 hours 15, 4 hours 20. Yeah, something like that. Yeah. Anyway, it was a nice day out and we did we were first out the water somehow cuz we just caught up with the front guys and I don’t know what they did halfway around but they’re having a little rest or something so I just swam off. Um and then coming into transition my brake levers got like stuck so I only had one brake. Um my back brake was like really far away so I couldn’t quite reach it. Um then we had a nice ride round on the bike just staying nice and narrow. Um, we did like 38k an hour, which is actually not too bad, but it was like 245 W, so it’s like 70 W off what I would be doing in a race. So, it was lovely. Like just enjoying the scenery. Um, but yeah, like I said, coming out of transition, my balls are absolutely destroyed. Like from the gravel yesterday, like shaking, and then today it’s just like rubbed them to bits. Like there’s actually no ball sack left. They might fall out. Um, and also I was dying for a wei the whole way round. So I have weed a little bit down there too just to finish it all off. So my girlfriend will be staying away tonight. Um, but yeah, then we ran fairly well off it. Actually probably not one of my worst runs. Like 350 average, 120 52. Tiny bit short, like 100 m short, but like it’s not actually that bad. I would have been happy with that a few years ago. Yeah, true. And a whole PB cuz last year I got like four drafting penalties. Um, but yeah, there we go. If you like this video and you like the uh commentary during the race, maybe hit the subscribe button. I’ll do it again in a bigger maybe a pro race. Get the mic on. Um, but yeah, thanks. Like and subscribe.
